|4| THE CRAZIEST FAMILY OF THEM ALL.
THIRTEEN YEARS OLD CASSIAN always wondered why his family was so crazy. Not that he didn't love them but it simply was on why they acted so retarded. Especially his six-years-old twin little sisters.
Well, Callista was fine but Faith simply couldn't keep her big fat mouth shut. That girl also had a very bad habit on spying on him which she considered a hobby of hers.
So, one fine day when Cassian had gotten all ready to go out and was tying his shoe-laces in his father's study peacefully while his sisters were busy in their own work,
"Where are you going?" Faith perked her head up from the book she had been reading to stare at her brother in question.
"Do your own work, Pigtails." Cassian tugged at Faith's ponytails making her growl at him and throw her book at his head.
Before the book could make contact with his head, Cassian catched it mid-air and scanned the tittle, "Aladdin? Aren't you too old to read this?"
"I'm only six!" Faith huffed upholding her small fingers up to show him.
"Right. Little baby." Cassian teased holding Faith's book as she jumped up to grab it from him.
"Give it to me, you idiot!" She growled again making Cassian laugh and hold it even higher to irk his little sister.
Suddenly Faith stopped trying to reach out and flopped back on the couch she had been sitting on. Flipping her ponytails, she gave her brother a coy look.
Cassian narrowed his eyes knowing very well Faith was upto no good when she had that look on her face, "What's with the look?"
"I know you're going out to meet your girlfriend." Faith wiggled her brows at him, "That pretty silver-haired girl."
Before Cassian could even react to her words, Callista who had been eating glanced up from her cereal bowl.
"Broda has a girlfriend?" The little girl's eyes flickered from Cassian to her twin then back to her brother.
And just as she said those words, his mother who had been passing through the hallways halted on her steps and peeked inside the study.
"Cas, you have a girlfriend?" Carla's eyes turned surprised before a wide smile broke out on her lips, "Oh My God! Why didn't you tell us? We'd love to meet her."
"Meet who?" Anthony appeared behind his wife looking at Cassian over Carla's blonde head.
"She's just a friend." Cassian rolled his eyes at his family members and threw Faith's book back on her head.
"Ouch, you shitface!" She shrieked holding her head.
Cassian jutted out his tongue at his sister making her fume but before Faith could attack him, Carla gasped from the doorway.
"Faithy, what did you just say?" Carla's eyes were wide.
Faith wanted to slap her own face but she gave her mother a queasy smile, "I said cuteface."
"No no." Callista spoke up obediently, "You said Sheet-face. She-heet-face. What is that, mommy?"
"Barbie, shut up!" Faith growled making the blonde twin look at her quizzically.
"I just said what you said." The little girl looked like she would cry as she took into her younger twin's glower.
Carla just gawked at her children before turning around to glare at her husband. She pointed her finger at him as if to say the kids were picking up the swear words from the father himself before storming down the hallway.
Anthony looked at his wife's retreating figure in stark confusion, "What did I do now?"
Cassian shook his head at the crazy family as he walked past Anthony, "Good luck, Dad." He encouraged his father and headed outside the castle.
Anthony pondered another minute over what wrong he did before rushing behind his wife like a lovesick puppy.
* * *
Wind ruffled his dark hair as Cassian walked through the forest of Lycor towards the stream he always met Elvie at.
It was the first place they both had gone together when his friend from the fae realm had jumped into the connecting portal of the fae realm and Ancientriova in search of him.
Elvie was crazy, that much Cassian had long accepted. But he didn't know the girl would literally come down to Ancientriova to find him. Sometimes the thought soured his heart how she'd searched for him even when none of his own had.
As his head filled with the memories of him and Elvie, he spotted the silver haired girl throwing pebbles into the stream, sitting idly with her legs dipped into the water.
Cassian's lips pulled into a smile as he hastened his step to reach the girl. Once he was in front of the stream, he wasted no time in rolling the edge of his jeans up only to flop down beside the girl and dipping his own legs into the warm water.
Elvie turned to the fae boy, her silver eyes glinting under the sunlight, "So what was the parade for today? Did Faith check your pockets?" She asked, her gaze mischievous.
Cassian rolled his eyes at the mention of his sister, "She's a royal pain. She almost had everyone believing you're my girlfriend today."
"Ah, the brown haired one?" Elvie's lips quirks up as he nods, "Oh, I like her."
Cassian's eyes narrowed, "Ofcourse, you'd like her. You both are the same. You both make my life miserable." He whined like a little child.
"Tsk, Cass." She sprinkled some water onto his scowling face, "We make your life entertaining."
"Yeah, right." He rolled his eyes yet again before turning serious, "Why do you look so dull?"
Elvie raised a brow, "Did you just call me dull?" Her palms flattened on her cheeks in a dramatic way, "I'm too happy right now, you dufus."
It was Cassian who raised his brow this time, "May I know the reason why?"
"Because soon I'll be enrolling for the king's guard!" She squealed like an excited child and splashed some more water on him.
Cassian shook his head to rid the dripping water off his hair, "Why are you so obsessed with being a part of the king's guard? You know they're not really that great of a people, right?"
"And how would you know that? You don't even live in Elvendor." Elvie gave him an incredulous look, "Being the king's guard has always been my dream. Besides, it's not like I'm marrying the king." She rolled her eyes.
Cassian's mood dulled even more than before, "Will you stop visiting once you're enrolled in?"
The thought of not meeting Elvie made him sad. To add to his misery, she was going to be under the king's shed. The king he didn't want to even think about. The king who bought back blurry bitter memories from his past.
The fae never forget their memory from childhood till the day they die and Cassian had been in Elvendor for five years before jumping through the portal to Ancientriova. He knew better than anyone how those people were. Elvie was his first true friend. Crazy at times but that's how she was. He liked her that way itself and he didn't want to loose her.
Elvie's eyes softened and a smile broke out on her lips as she realized the actual reason of her friend's sour mood, "Aww. Will you miss me?"
"Ofcourse, I would." He grumbled under his breath.
Elvie laughed at his childishness and flaked an arm over his shoulder, "My friend, you're too cute sometimes. Don't worry, I won't ever forget you during the training. And the first thing I'll do once my training is done, is visit you."
Cassian's golden eyes snapped to Elvie's silver ones, "Promise?" He asked softly lifting his pinky finger up.
The girl laughed hooking her little finger with his, "Pinky Promise, Cass."
And Cassian hoped with all his might that she would keep her promise.
Cassian's story is one of the most I'm excited to write from the Royal Heirs. It just gets me all giddy when I think of his story >.<
Anyways, did you guys find any hint in the chapter?👀
Next chapter, I'll try to give a glimpse into the Kingston twin's childhood and also Cami's👀
