"Goodnight, my bride." - Park Jimin
It was a day before the wedding, Eun-Byul gazing at the setup for decorations. "Ah, move the tables a bit more spaciously. We need all the townspeople to fit." She said, making the guards move them around a bit more. She gave them a thumbs up, going over to her sister. Ga-Young was doing the flower arrangements.
"Wait, I'll help-"
"You're the bride, idiot," Ga-Young stated. "Help, my butt. Go sit down somewhere." Eun-Byul grumbled, crossing her arms. Eun-Byul didn't just want to sit around and do nothing, everyone was doing this for her wedding, so she had to repay them somehow!
"She's right, baby," Someone back hugged the bride, and it's of course, Jimin. "You need to take some time for yourself. All you've been doing is wedding planning. I should be doing this for my lovely fiancee."
"I'm doing this for you and the townspeople," Eun-Byul pouted, turning around as Jimin slid his hands down to her waist. "You can't just be the only one working hard."
"And you too." Jimin kissed the girl's nose, a giggle escaping both of their mouths. Ga-Young pretended to hurl, finishing the arch of flowers. "Alright, that's enough lovebirds. Some of the kingdoms have arrived, you might want to appoint them to their rooms."
"Ah, yes!" Eun-Byul squeaked, trying to get out of the groom's arms, but he only held her tighter. "Let's go, my lovely queen." He spun her around, The two holding hands as they headed off to the carriages.
"Ugh, so cheesy." Wonho hurled, Ga-Young laughing. "I know, right?" The two laughed, starting to chat. The engaged couple went to say hello until Eun-Byul's eyes landed on someone.
"Hyo-Ri!" She squealed, the princess snapping her head as she excitedly squeaked as well. "Eun-Byul!" The two ran over, giving each other a bold hug.
"Hyo-Ri, what did I say about- Oh, King Park..." King Min cleared his throat, seeing the glares from Eun-Byul and Jimin. "It's good to see you two, King Min," Eun-Byul said, releasing herself from the hug as she curtsied.
"I hope we work well together in the future, right?" Eun-Byul stated boldly, a forced smile written on her face. King Min simply nodded, unmistakably scared of her. "Of course." He choked out, averting his gaze from the engaged girl.
"Anyways, Hyo-Ri, how have you been? You haven't called me." Eun-Byul frowned, Hyo-Ri sighing. "I had some princess-ly affairs most of the time. It's good to have you back. Even better, you're getting married!"
"I know, right!" Eun-Byul squeaked, and Jimin mocked her by squealing too. Both ladies turned to the mocking boy, disgust written on their faces. "Stop, baby," Eun-Byul stated, the boy scoffing as he hugged her. The three all laughed, going to greet more of the kingdoms.
"Seokjin!" Eun-Byul grinned as she called out to the King, the three brothers of Gwacheon turning their heads to the sound.
"Oh, Eun-Byul, Jimin!" Seokjin said joyfully, hugging his best friend. Taehyung grinned at Eun-Byul, crossing his arms. "I see we have our beautiful couple back to rule the lands~!" Taehyung mused, seeing as the couple blushed.
"Shut up~" The engaged couple whined, grabbing each other's hands. Seokjin glanced over at Hyo-Ri, who was gazing at him.
"Ah, princess Hyo-Ri." He bowed, the girl frantically curtseying at the King.
"Oh, King Seokjin!" She chuckled awkwardly. "It's nice to see you again."
The King flushed red, nodding. "You too."
Eun-Byul snickered at the (obviously) in love pair, knowing a spare will come along eventually.
"Am I the only one who notices Seokjin hyung's gaze at her?" Jimin whispered to Eun-Byul, the girl shaking her head slowly. "Let them figure it out themselves; it was what we did, right?" She teased, Jimin giggling as he kissed her cheek.
***
"Oh-my-gosh, I'm so tired~" She groaned, laying back on the shared bed with her pajamas. Of course, Jimin wanting to be very cutesy with her wore similar ones. "I need to get my dress on tomorrow with Ga-Young, and then when I see you at the altar-"
"Shut up for tonight, baby." Jimin hushed her. "You need to calm down."
"But-" Jimin softly pushed his lips on hers, a smile plastered on the girl's face as she replied to his affection. A kiss to remember not only at the altar but the countless nights they desperately waited just to run back into each other's arms. A kiss that will stay forever like the day they become entwined to one another.
He gently pulled away from her, caressing her cheek as she gave the boy a soft grin. "You love wanting to make me smile, don't you?" She whispered, the boy giving her a whispered chuckle. "You deserve to smile, baby." He replied, hugging her.
It was a bit funny, don't you think?
After everything they've been through, they are still together. Jimin waited years for her, yet he didn't love someone else? Eun-Byul too, she could've moved on. However, love was such a powerful force, it proves that distance is useless.
That affection, that sickly-sweet affection, is nothing on distance. That love is like the air, you may lose it at times, but you breathe it and all of a sudden, you're back. Some just lack it more than others. And it's a terrible fate.
Just know, that you once you discover it, it'll be a tough fate. But that air isn't just found in another, just not one person. It's around you, all the time.
And that's the best part.
"Jimin?"
"Hm?"
"I love you." She insinuated, nuzzling into the crook of the boy's neck. He pulled the duvet closer to the both of them, holding her as close as he could.
"I love you too, but Eun-Byul?"
"Yep?"
"When did you realize you loved me?" Jimin asked, the girl pulling away from her head, thinking.
"When we went to the amusement park. I realized that I had these... undescribable feelings for you, and my suspicion about Chan-Ri kind of flamed it. It was heartbreaking to feel so envious. Even now, I'm ashamed of my actions." She stated, shrugging slightly. "About you, King Jimin?"
And, Jimin thought back to the day he fell for her.
-
His eyes soon found her from afar, buying something from a vending machine. He turned away, his heart hammering against his chest.
He rested his hand on top of his chest and over his heart, breathing heavily.
"What is this... feeling? I fell for her, didn't I..." Jimin sighed, lowering his head as he turned back on his words. He said he'd never fall for a girl like her, but soon he did.
It was not a surprise. Anybody could love a girl like that. Eun-Byul was a patient, kind, self-confident, brave, and ambitious girl. Nothing was stopping her devotion to being a girl who could change the world; and maybe one day, she would.
However, Jimin had a sudden realization, his eyes widening as he remembered the first rule of royalty.
"No love is involved in the Royal Family Of Busan; no matter the circumstances..." He recalled, biting his lower lip in distress.
"I broke the first rule." He sighed, his shoulders lowering.
"What first rule of what?" Eun-Byul asked out of a sudden, making Jimin flinch and turn around quickly, grabbing onto the sleeve of her hood and holding it tight.
As the two made contact, Jimin couldn't help but feel his heart trying to tell him how he feels. However now, he realizes, that Eun-Byul's always been correct.
That he doesn't... have to listen to his mother all the time anymore.
-
"I liked you back when you were moving into the palace, but when I realized I had those feelings for you, it was at the amusement park. When I said I broke the first rule." He chuckled. "It was why I turned so much softer. That I remembered I shouldn't be contained by these... nonexistent chains. You taught me that quite well."
"Wow, how inspiring." The girl teased, making Jimin scoff.
"Of course you say that after my emotional-"
"Alright, alright. Tomorrow's our big day. You need to calm down. Let's sleep." She gently kissed his forehead, wearing a tired smile.
The boy nodded, giggling. "Goodnight, my bride."
"Goodnight, my groom."
