Chapter 2

I walked along the cobblestone streets again. It was a nice day yet still foggy outside. Men and women off to work were frantically driving, cursing in strong Orfridian from their lack of patience . I got side eyes and looks from pedestrians crossing the frantic streets, If I passed them. I was on Bertin street, making my way down a sidewalk with white houses aligned on the street. Finally, there it was. ''Ambrose Delais!'' Her maiden name, or marital name. The building was of white brick, blue shutters, I admired the glass window showing mannequins with a amethyst dress made out of silk, and chiffon ruffles on the bottom, with tulle underneath to make the dress poof out more. It was big and elegant. I was in awe. Another dress, baby pink tulle that is ruffled and had many lay.I walked in,''Hello-'' I opened the door hearing the sound of a bell ding, the atmosphere was delightful, wooden floors, a crystal chandelier, a back room with a curtain probably for sewing, and a area with fabric cascading and laying along it, probably for customising, and a jewellery selection to go with dresses.

''Good morning!'' Ambrose mumbled with a pencil in her mouth measuring a brunette girls waist it was the Adlea's.  Ambrose's hair in a chignon with a light blue chemise dress, with lace.
I straightened my dress, and walked over there, not scared but confident. ''Camille-'' I introduced myself, quickly giving a bow. ''Victoria of Adlea!'' She introduced herself giving me a shrew look which gave me a bad impression as she stood on a pedestal to stabilize her. She was wearing about two inch heels which added height to her, she had on a grey, satin dress, with a chemised bottom. ''Camille is my assistant!'' Ambrose winked her blue eyes at me. I didn't even think I deserved that title. ''22 inch waist!'' Ambrose whispered under her breath, releasing the measuring tape from around her waist.

''I've been laying off of the tarts!'' Victoria added her cheeks blushed, and her ego showing. ''Lovely-'' I scoffed not meaning to sound so unenthusiastic. As a princess, my waist was a size 32. I admired my curves, I wasn't prejudiced or anything just she's so- out there.  ''Have you been measured yet, your highness?'' I walked over to the queen, bowing. She had a very mature look, her figure slim, crows feet around her eyes, and almost raven hair. ''Yes-'' She said quick to answer. ''I love your necklace!'' I admired looking at the diamond pendant necklace. ''I was gifted with it from a prestigious jeweller in Adlea-we are known for our diamonds and treasures in Adlea!'' she bragged, ''I've heard! Diamonds are very rare to find!'' I smiled trying to warm up to her, ''Not in Adlea!'' She tried to say under her breath but it was clearly audible enough for me to hear.  ''You're all done!'' Ambrose said grabbing her hand, leading her off from the pedestal. ''Finally! Thank you!'' Victoria unsuccessfully teased.

''Now- Camille let's talk fabric and design!'' ''Alright!'' I followed her command. '' May I suggest an amethyst satin dress, with chiffon ruffles on the skirt, and tulle underneath to give oomph to her dress,Victoria since her skin is pale   I think a amethyst shade will compliment her very well?'' I stood there in utter and complete hope. ''Yes- any suggestions from you Princess Victoria?''
''Well- bright colors don't suit me, yellow makes me washed out, dark red would be okay, vibrant's are a no, no! Plum is alright- nothing to light too dark!'' Victoria went off on a tangent, in her posh Adlean accent. ''Alright-lovely!'' Ambrose smiled softly but from her response I could sense how overwhelmed she felt. ''Your highness-I personally believe that darker shades or monotones would suit you very well!'' I walked over to the queen as elegant as soft as I could.

''Whatever Ambrose says!'' She glanced over to me, and back to Ambrose which kind of made me feel less superior. ''I think a plum corseted dress on you- and a amethyst bottom dress with chiffon like Camille said!'' Ambrose came to a conclusion and I couldn't of agreed more. ''I was thinking along those lines!'' I kept my voice civil but I managed to hide the excitement that was raging inside of me. ''Sounds lovely Ambrose!'' The queens eyes filled with refined joy. ''I am unexpectedly surprised by this- Thank you!'' Victoria said letting go of her arrogant persona. ''Wonderful!- I think a black diamond teardrop rhinestone necklace would look stunning on you!'' I glanced right at the queen, ''Sure!'' she said finally letting her guard down.

''And- a amethyst pendant necklace for the princess!'' I blushed I would be so overjoyed in this moment if I was her, prepping for balls was always so amusing, and made feel as if I was getting pampered. ''I love it!'' Ambrose smiled a huge smile. ''Sure! Thanks Camille!'' Her tone was definitely more sweet, which felt a bit disingenuous.

''The dresses will be done Saturday evening before the ball!'' Ambrose informed them. ''Alright! Satisfy me!'' Queen Corlyn's tone was exciting yet very deceiving. The Adlea's left. ''You did great-'' Ambrose turned to acknowledge me, ''I tried to be as formal as possible with my manners!'' I felt gratitude and relieved all at once. ''I shouldn't say this but- they act as if they are deserving!'' ''I can see that!'' I said not trying to cause problems. ''Why don't you work on the emerald satin for practice?'' Ambrose said leading me into the backroom. The backroom was darling, a changing room, a closet, fur carpet, an array of different fabrics, diamonds, and a classic sewing machine. Sketches from imagination were on display. ''Wow-'' I was speechless, ''It is a mess!" she said embarrassed. ''Well, creativity is the cause! Not bad'' I smirked, going to get the fabric. ''Thank you! ''Of course!'' I nodded proceeding to get to work. ''What's your idea?'' She smiled at me giving me a journal to sketch. ''Well-'' I frightently opened the blue, rough to the touch journal. I grabbed a feather plume, dipped it in ink, and let my creativity release. I first drew the figure of a slim girl, I drew every detail- not literally everything. I then drew the formation of the dress, it was sleeveless, with a heart-shaped neckline. The dress wasn't straight down, it had a slight curve, I then drew the ruffles that would fan out and be on many layers. I finally drew what was a emerald rhinestone necklace. I was then done. ''Here-'' I said, finally catching my breath. ''You have a wonderful eye but let's see what your eyes can do!'' She smirked. ''Take Victoria's measurements for practice!'' I measured the fabric cutting it, and placed it on a mannequin pinning it for reference. I stitched the emerald satin together forming the top of the dress. I took the measurements and created the bottom. I went over to the sewing machine, pinned some of the fabric down, and sewed, removed the pin, and sewed the next stitch over and again. It was the evening, I felt worn out. ''Let's get lunch!'' Ambrose initiated a break.

She led the way to a patisserie. The patisserie was lovely on the inside, and architecture that was inspired by Gindlin. A fur rug, brick walls on the inside, a fireplace was being burnt, and the smell of sugar, berries, and lemon cascaded in the air. I could hear the wheezing of a teapot in the background.  ''I'll be right back-i'll order for you!'' She winked while I sat down at a table. She finally came back with cups of earl grey tea for the both of us. A porcelain plate from Ocarina, had a mixed frangipane berry tart. ''Thank you!'' I smiled softly. ''Of course!'', ''Where are you living?'' Ambrose questioned me, this was hard to answer because I truly missed Josephine, Father, and Mother sometimes, I felt like a lost cause. ''A bed and breakfast, it's Lebleu's!'' I answered gazing into her beady blue eyes. "Oh- well, do you have family?" She puzzled me, "No- they sent me away and gave me money they couldn't afford me!" I made up a cryptic lie and felt my limbs shake. "That's terrible-" Ambrose's eyes looked down on the floor.

"You need a more stable home Camille-" she gave a look that she was thinking of something.

"I am really fine-" I answered but I really did start thinking of what I was to do.

"Camille- no, its a bed and breakfast not a townhouse."

"Miss, I don't have any other resources!" I felt guilty of lying but it was partly the truth, I had nowhere else to go, I brought enough funds to support me.  "Well- I have an extra room-" Ambrose sipped her tea.   "I mustn't!" I denied, I did need it but I simply couldn't

. "No you are! Go to Le Bleu's and pack up-" Ambrose demanded.

After lunch, I left and went straight to packing. I packed all of my belongings, and left.  Now, as I sat in Ambrose's fine black carriage, I couldn't have been more gracious in my life. It was definitely smaller than any carriage i've ridden in but it had a more relaxing feeling. The view was beautiful, I have never really captured a sight of Orfridia, I have very briefly seen my land. It was breathtaking. So much land to roam, and farm on. Beautiful plantations filled with beautiful peonies, lilacs, roses, dahlias, and babies breath. I saw lovely views of horse farms, with beautiful, muscular, stallions and beautiful, slim, horses with different colors. The houses were manor-typed, with beautiful pillars that held the house up. The architecture was beyond regal and it had a strong Gindlin style.

Then, we were finally there. The house still as regal as the others, had strong bay windows, with lacy curtains that were visible from the inside. The landscaping was impeccable, rose bushes, poppies, lilacs, and peonies. Exiting the carriage, we entered the house.  Ambrose's house was just as breath-taking as the outside. The house was filled with pastel colors, with dainty antiques, such as fans with rosettes. A crystal chandelier twirled and twinkled, and the diamond reflected on the maple wood floors. There was a big staircase that cascaded down the staircase before I got a more detailed look of it. A handsome young man made his down it. "Jasper-" Ambrose took the young man's hand and led him down the staircase. "Camille, this is my son!" She introduced us. He reached his hand out towards mine, his mother-like, strong, crystal blue eyes burned through mine. "Jasper as you might have heard!" He laughed softly. I blushed softly, I couldn't help myself he was quite attractive with his defined structure, brawny figure, and ashy brown hair. His hands were quite calloused but overall soft definitely not kitchen boy hands. I, then shook myself out of my thoughts. "Camille-" I bowed. He chuckled, "i'm not a prince, no need to bow!" "Just common courtesy- I learnt it in preparatory school!" I knew I already said too much!
"Fascinating- I know quite a lot of prep schools- I was a prep boy myself! Now, I am an entrepreneur, following fathers footsteps!" He informed me. "Delightful-" I smiled softly.  "Well, Camille! Go take care of yourself upstairs, I will have Ophelia prepare dinner!" Ambrose interrupted which I was thankful for. "I'll show the way!" Jasper led me up the staircase.  "Here's where you'll stay, I suppose!" He looked a little puzzled since he never got a reasoning. "You must be an important customer!" He smiled, "Oh- I am an assistant!" I blushed out of embarrassment. "Wow- you don't live anywhere! I would suppose you would since you went to prep school, and graduated early!" Jasper gave me a cryptic look.

"Not quite- I did in fact graduate early but thankfully because my parents couldn't afford to support me!" I shook out of guilt, I hated lying. "Wow- I must say how impressive! Most women who have a job like you came out of a upper class family!" He looked impressed.

"Don't be too impressed- it was hardwork! Not all upper classes are successful!" I might have scolded him too much.  "Right-" he took my suitcases and placed them in a corner.  "Anyways- I appreciate your help!" I smiled. "My pleasure!" He walked out without giving eye contact.

All of that chatter made me ignore the scenery of the room. It was beautiful, another crystal chandelier, pastel furniture, and a beautiful vanity, with a silver hairbrush. The wall had candle holders on the wall. The room was beautiful. There was even a balcony, I could see myself taking trips out here to clear my thoughts.
