Another Day Another Dollar

Three weeks and two days since I was released, exactly the same amount of time I had spent in London and exactly the same amount of time I had to enjoy my new life.

I stayed at Saville Row as it was conveniently located close to the law offices for my reinstatement exams, I could also further investigate my involvement with NEMS..... Oh OK, I'll say it - I took the job!!

The amount of legal matters these bands get themselves into was astounding- not just the contract side of things. I was required to sort out the band members themselves, you know the ones that happened to get into trouble with the law- driving infringements, brawls, and the most outlandish of them all seemed to be women claiming to had a stars baby!

They were all young and naughty, and out to have the time of their life. They seemed to think 'we will have 1 hit record and that's the end so live it up quick lads', while the fire's hot.

Brian was very accommodating offering me an advance on some wages so I could buy my own odds and ends, clothes and shoes. I did select a lot of the closet presented the first day and paid what was due. Also being at Saville Row I had access to a kitchen which was huge and all I needed.

James was a regular visitor, as was Rich and his new bride, the beautiful Maureen with dark hair, quiet demure and silly sense of humour, she seemed ideal for Rich. Often Rich would not knock he would just sing 'Over The Rainbow' loudly so I would giggle and open the door to him. We all caught up on the last few years and it seemed like the perfect life for me to begin anew in.

"You know luv, my Maureen is a wonderful hairdresser and I'm going to buy her a dozen salons up and down the entire coast of England!" Rich boasted proudly.

"No doubt you will Richy your band and you are soaring at the moment. You are wise to invest but poor Maureen, she will be run off her feet!" I retorted.

"Never you mind 'bout my Maur she is very fast you know- she'll be up and down as fast as a Yorkshire terrier!" Ringo laughingly replied back and as soon as he did Maureen was swatting him.

"Did you just call me a dog, Richard Starkey!" Maureen giggled still swatting him, now with her purse.

"Aye, but a very cute little puppy she is!!" Richard bounded out of her way and 'hid' behind me ducking back and forth to avoid Maureen's feigned wrath.

"OK children" I giggled as Rich leaned over my shoulder poking his tongue out at Maureen "perhaps Richard, our Maureen is an elegant rose next time not a short legged puppy!" I grabbed Richie in a hug then we all then had a good natter about hair, new blow dryers and how I should let Maureen style my locks.

"Oh" Maureen squealed "I just remembered what it was that I had to ask! It's coming up to our anniversary let's all go out this Saturday night to celebrate! You will come won't you Rox. You absolutely must. You haven't met Pattie yet!" Maureen pleaded her case and I found myself wanting to agree, so I did.

" 'Ang on a minute, am I invited???" Rich enquired.

Maureen then tapped her chin, scowled, looked skyward taking ages to answer. Rich was rolling his eyes and tapping his foot "You DO know I am somewhat important to this celebration Maur! It is OUR anniversary!!" Maureen gave him a big kiss "Of course love. Couldn't be a party without my Rich, now could it"
