14 Beatles emerge
Johns POV
Brian glanced at his watch AGAIN, the tenth time in the last 20 minutes, he was more nervous than me for some reason.
"Would ya please stop prancing about Brian. Yer wearing a hole in the bloody carpet!" He glanced up and continued pacing. "Why are you so nervous, she's just a girl?"
Brian looked over at me, rubbing his chin and using his white handkerchief to wipe seemingly invisible sweat from his brow.
Brian spoke in his posh 'proper' voice. The one that he know goads me no end "John. One. I am not nervous, I'm thinking. Two, I do not know this young lady, that you want me to just blindly employ and three, she has just got out of a penitentiary!"
Ok, I'm going to clobber him. "For Christs sake I told you her details, why she was put in a courthouse cell and NOT general prison. What she did for my mum, for me. Just calm yourself down, have a bloody cup of tea"
Brian rolled his eyes as he usually does when he thinks I'm being a prat and sulked over to the corner of the room to pour a glass of scotch. Well maybe that will settle him down a bit more than tea.
After being contacted by Mimi and then her sending me the newspaper clippings I thought and thought what I could do to show my appreciation to Roxan, yep Roxan with an X. The news article offered all the information I needed to know what she had done, and indeed, put herself through - putting the scum in jail that killed my mother, Julia, and near broke my heart.
Going to jail herself, losing her ability to practice law. Amazing. I knew it was a means to an end for her too. Putting that evil man away for good was as much for me as it was for her. She hadn't told me he was her step dad but I had found out through Rings' - putting two and two together.
That day I found out the lads had wondered why I was so animated- yelling and hooting and hollering happily for a change, not chasing them away when they all stormed my bedroom when I was due me kip; I passed over the clippings and they all were as happy as me. Paul even looked glassy eyed when he pulled me aside in a big bear hug knowing how much the passing of my mum, and his, had crushed us both.
Ringo mentioned he happened to know Roxan (I still haven't found out how exactly) and had run into her brother James a few times in one of the smaller clubs in West End, as he played in a band there. Thank goodness Ringo has a passion for hitting the obscure clubs; I prefer the Bag o' Nails myself, they don't let every bloody Beatle scruff in. Anyhoot we set out to find James and then started organising Roxans' release day.
It took me four months... (I'm a slow planner- ok!) to work up a way of helping her, thanking her, seeing her again, if I was going to be truthful.
But I finally found an opening to a job and it was right under my nose.
With all of our touring, recording and crazy dealings Brian was snowed under with International Merchandising offers, touring packages and so forth. All mumbo jumbo to me but not to a smart solicitor person like Roxan Nicholls.
