A Dangerous Trip to the Library Pt.1 (Donnie x Reader)

3rd Person P.O.V.

You sat down at an empty table in the library. You had yet another English paper due. It was official. Senior year sucks. you dropped your books next to you and plopped your head onto the table top.

"Can I sit here?"

Without looking you nodded your head, and the kid next you sat down at the table. You didn't lift your head until you heard him pop open a can. He had a can of Monster in one hand, and a comically large cup of coffee in the other.

"Looks like this the day I die," he stated as he continued to pour the energy drink into his coffee.

You stared at the cup until he was finished mixing the two drinks.

"I think you might be right. Your heart is going to stop from all that caffeine."

"I hope so." He drank a few big gulps of the liquid.

"Mood," you laughed. "School work?"

"Something of the sort," he replied as he picked up some papers and started shuffling through them.

"Me too. Too bad you don't seem to have any caffeinated beverages to spare. I hate senior classes."

Without tearing his gaze away from his papers, he pulled another Monster out of the bag next to him and set it on the table, sliding it over to you.

You looked at it for a second, blinking, before grinning and taking the can. "Thanks."

"No probles."

"Do you always just have these on hand?"

"As often as I can afford them. If you knew my brothers, you'd understand."

"Sounds like a good coping mechanism. Do you ever sleep at night?"

"Sometimes, it depends on how much coffee I've had. I seem to have a slight tolerance to caffeine."

"Couldn't imagine," you laughed, and you heard him let out a small chuckle.

You grabbed the drink he gave you and opened it, taking a few sips. You looked down at your blank paper and sighed.

"What's your paper on?"

"A stupid six-hundred-word paper on Macbeth and why his ambition led to his demise. I've read the play, it's just so much effort. How do I get six-hundred words out of this?"

"If you need it, I can help you."

"Really? You know a lot about Macbeth?"

"Please. I have a brilliant mind, I can handle a little paper on Shakespeare."

"Oh yeah? Well, I've got nothing to lose, so let's see what you've got."

He pulled a pen out of the pocket in his purple hoodie and scribbled something down. "I actually have to leave, but text me and I'll get back to you. Also, I call that drink 'The Heartstopper,' and if it kills you, I will not be held responsible."

You couldn't tell whether or not he was really kidding, but you did notice that his cup was already empty as he was packing up his things.

"See you later." He left behind the paper with his number, and walked away.

"Alright, then, see ya." You pick up the paper and stuffed it in the back of your notebook before going back to your work.

This was probably the most interesting trip to the library I've ever had, you thought to yourself.

Ding!

Donnie glanced away from his project to see a message from a new number on his phone.

Unknown: Hey. It's me, from the library.

Unknown: I never actually got your name.

Nor I yours.

It's Donatello.

Unknown: Y/n.

Y/n: You made today rather interesting.

I tend to have that effect.

Y/n: Pfft

Y/n: Don't get me wrong, I love the library.

Y/n: Just not when I'm there for school work.

I wish I went to school.

Y/n: You don't go to school?

I guess you could say I was home-schooled.

Y/n: Oh, I see.

Y/n: Don't worry, you're really not missing out.

Y/n: Just stress and bullies.

Makes sense, however, you seem to be dancing
around the real reason I gave you my number.

Y/n: I have no idea what you're talking about

Haha, very funny.

Y/n: I thought so.

So, when do you want to work on the paper?

Y/n: How about tomorrow afternoon?

That works for me. How about two? I'll call you.

Y/n: No library?

I don't like being around people.

Y/n: Noooo, I hate  phone calls. T^T

Y/n: Can't we just meet at the library?

Y/n: Please, please, please, please?

Oh, for the love of Socrates, fine. The library it is.

Y/n: Yay! Thank you! See you at the library at two.

...One thing you should know.

Y/n: Yeah?

....Nevermind.

See you tomorrow.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You realized as you were walking into the library that you had no idea what this guy actually looked like. You also realized that he had no idea what you looked like either, since he never looked up from what he was doing.

As you walked around the library, wondering how you would be able to spot him, you recognized a familiar purple hoodie and walked over.

"Donatello?"

"In the flesh. Have a seat, Y/n" he responded, waving to a chair across from him.

When you sat down, you looked up at him, and noticed he was wearing sunglasses.

To each his own, I guess, you thought, but you couldn't really see his face because of the hood and glasses, which struck you as odd. You brushed the thought away, however, and got out your books.

"So, shall we begin?"

You nodded and brought out a pen.

-----this mystical time skip is brought to you by tiny unicorns-----

You slumped forward and groaned quietly.

 "Finally. Finally finished."

Donatello, who had moved to sit next to you, chuckled and patted your shoulder a couple times.

"You did well."

"Only because you helped me. I would have been so lost. Thanks for doing this."

"It was no problem."

"Want to go get some ice cream or something? My treat, as a thank you."

"...Sure, why not."

You gathered up your things and threw your bag over your shoulder as you led the way out of the library and down the street towards your favorite ice cream shop.

Right as you were about to open the door, Donatello grabbed your arm and pulled you into the alley next to the ice cream place. His back to the wall, he pulled you against him with his hand over your mouth. A terrible feeling made its way into your gut as you tried to pull away, or move, or do something to defend yourself. Your breath quickened and you began to panic, realizing how incredibly strong he was.

You shut your eyes tightly as you waited for the pain that you expected to come any second, panic gripping tightly to your chest.

One second went by... then two.... then five...

You waited, but nothing happened. You slowly pried your eyes opened, and the fear in your chest subsided slightly.

His grip loosened, and he pulled away after a few more seconds.

When he let go, you took a few quick steps forward and turned to look at him, questions burning in your eyes.

"I'm so sorry, really, it's just that there were some people out there, that, trust me, you did not want to run into."

"Who?"

"They're called the foot, and they kind of hate my whole family. They're bad people, and I figured that you might not want to get attacked today."

Your gaze softened a little. "If they hate you, why would they attack me?"

"Well, they attack our friend April, so-"

"April O'neal? I know her, we take a few of the same classes."

He nodded. "I'm sorry, again, I didn't mean to scare you."

You took a deep breath and nodded. "It's no problem. You were trying to keep me safe after all."

In all the commotion, his hood had slipped off, and you just noticed. You blinked at him a couple of times to make sure you weren't just seeing things.

"What?"

"You... your skin is green."

He looked at you with wide eyes and threw his hood back on.

"Ummm."
