Camila bites her lip as she stares at the head of brown hair in front of her. It's her first day in her first class at Auradon, and she doesn't know jack shit about Auradon Government so she knows she's going to fail this class, plus she's already distracted by Lucy's gorgeous dark hair and the way she's tapping out a beat against her desk with her pencil.

Of course this girl is the daughter of Rapunzel, she's gorgeous, and as far as Camila can tell, extremely sweet.

Camila's ears focus on the conversation Lucy's having with the girl sitting next to her, and her heart stutters at the sound of the princess' voice. The two of them are talking about some start of the school year party that some boy named Chad is throwing.

"Are you planning on going Camila?"

To say the brunette is caught off guard is an understatement. "What?"

"Chad's party! Everyone goes," Lucy tells her with a smile, "even the villain kids. Plus, it's a great way to meet people!"

The new girl can't help but wrinkle her nose "I don't really do the whole... meeting people thing."

Lucy pouts. Her lips are all Camila can stare at until she feels Carlos kicking her softly. She throws him a glare before looking back at the princess. "The Isle isn't really a place where you make friends or go to parties so I've never been to one."

"You've never been to a party?" the girl that isn't Lucy asks. Camila's pretty sure her name is Keana. She's the daughter of Lumierre, King Adam's right hand man, and also Lucy's best friend.

Camila's about to say something rude but she holds her tongue. Auradon is a place where she can be more than her father's daughter and actually be nice. "Nope, but I guess Auradon is a place for new expereinces right? Will I see you guys there?"

Lucy's smile seems to grow twice its regular size at Camila's acceptance of the event. "Yeah, we can introduce you to everyone! You can meet all of our friends."

"Mila's never had friends before," Carlos buts in. Camila shoves him playfully and he stick his tongue out at his friend.

"Weren't you guys friends back when you were both there?"

Camila shurgs. "We probably would've sold one another out for a slice of bread to be honest."

Both Keana and Lucy remain quiet at that. It's not that they're appauled, they simply feel pain for these kids who suffered so much on an island that they couldn't even have the basic necessity of friendship.

The four students remain quiet and continue paying attention to their teacher as she explains the symbolic monarchy of Auradon and then the legislative branch that creates and passes a majority of the laws aside from the executive orders the king makes.

School has always been something that Camila has excelled at, so she's glad she has all of these knew and interesting classes to challenge her. The only thing that she dislikes is how many kids are glancing at her oddly.

"Why are they looking at me," Camila whispers to Evie.

Both girls are sitting at their biology table hardly paying attention to the teacher's briefing of what the class will be like for the year. Evie scans the class and sure enough, 5 different tables have a student staring at Camila.

"They're just not used to new students."

"Bullshit, they're scared of me."

Evie rolls her eyes at her friend and tilts her head towards their professor. Camila scowls and crosses her arms. She never had to actually learn back at Dragon Hall. Being evil came naturally to her and so she excelled in all of her classes back home. Sure, she would read the educational books her mother would send her from Auradon but she never actually practiced anything she learned besides math.

Now she's taking practical classes like biology, literature, calculus, and even remedial goodness. Evie, Mal, Ben, and Jay say it was the easiest class they'd ever taken because Fairy Godmother believed in them, which is something none of the teachers on the Isle did.

It's when their professor begins talking about the biology of different magical creatures that her ears perk up. Evie's hand grips at her arm tightly and Camila looks up to see the diagram on the board.

There are three side by side images: one is a strand of DNA for normal humans, and one is of a magically powered human like Elsa, and the final one is of a half human-half animal. Camila's cheeks instantly burn as she thinks of how different she is to all of these kids. Most of them are just normal children besides Hercules son, Chad, Elsa's daughter, and possibly Lucy.

For the final strand of DNA, Camila's almost certain she and Mal are the only people at the school with that kind of DNA. The thought of being so different causes her anxiety to spike and she stays silent as the professor asks questions.

Mal is the only person who seems to know the answers to the half human questions. Everyone knows she's half dragon, but no one knows about Camila's parents besides her friends from the Isle so she plans to keep that under wraps.

After a while, the questions shift to normal human DNA and Camila can answer those without struggle. She may want to lay low, but she also wants to kill the stigma that kids from the Isle are stupid.

The girl in front of her turns her head and Camila immediately recognizes her. Camila leans into Evie and whispers, "is that Snow White's daughter?"

Evie looks away from her notes and towards the girl in front of them. "Yeah, that's Lauren. She's Lucy's best friend."

The last sentence piques Camila's interest. "How do you feel about her?"

Evie throws a glare at the other girl. "Are you asking me because my mom cursed hers?"

"I'm just curious," Camila pouts.

"She's a nice girl. We were lab partners last semester after I broke up with Doug."

Camila nods her head and looks towards others to see if she can recognize them. "What about that girl?"

Evie turns her head to Mal's partner. "That's Dinah. She's Moana's daughter."

"Wait like the Moana who saved Motunui?"

The blue haired girl nods and Camila simply stares in awe. She knew all of these kids had parents who were famous heroes and royalty, but she didn't realize how intense it would be. "Do you think they'd want to be my friends?"

"Weren't you just angry that they were staring at you?"

Camila doesn't get to respond because her professor meets her eyes and she shuts up quickly.

The girl she was back on the Isle is gone. She doesn't have to be tough, angry, and aggressive. There's no one here who knows about her homelife and can judge her, she doesn't have to constantly watch her back, and she doesn't have to live in fear of her father. He's far away from her, and here she's safe under Prince Ben's protection.

-

Camila collapses on her bed the moment she gets into her room. She's not used to constant social interaction and avoiding questions about her parents. All she wants to do is take a 30 year nap but she's sure soon enough someone is going to knock on her door to check on how she's doing.

As she lays there blasting her music, her mind wanders to what her father must be doing. He's most likely pursuing a new victim, or maybe he's causing a few kids to cower in fear. She wonders what he must be doing to get his anger out now. He used to simply degrade her and yell when he was feeling upset, but now that he doesn't have that as an outlet he must be going back to his old ways of terrorizing women.

Growing up with her father, Camila always felt shame and fear for who she was. When she was young, she didn't understand why so many people would glare at her as her father took her to the market or why even Maleficent seemed disgusted by her. As she grew older though she began to understand.

Her father was one of the most infamous villains on the Isle due to his unending cruelty and horrible treatment of all. She learned of all of his crimes in her History of Evil textbook during her freshman year. He had a whole page dedicated to him and his actions, just a few of them were kidnapping, rape, murder, and assault.

She remembers how even the teachers spoke of him as if he were a monster, and in turn, they treated Camila the same way.

After that, self-loathing became second nature to her. Every morning she would look at the cracked mirror in her bedroom and point out everything she hated about herself. During every full moon she would attempt to fight the animal inside of her because she didn't want to become the villain her father was.

The thoughts of her past dissapte when she hears a knocking at her door. When she opens the door she sees Lucy standing in front of her.

"H-hi," Camila croaks out. Lucy was the last person she expected to see. She half expected the princess simply to greet her at the beginning of the year and ignore her for the rest of the time.

Lucy's dark eyes sparkle and she smiles at the taller girl. "Hi, are you ready for Chad's party?"

"What? It's like 3 o'clock..."

Lucy gives her an odd luck. "It's 7:30 dude..."

Camila's eyes widen and she looks at the clock. When she sees it actually is that late, she grimaces. It had been a while since she'd gotten so deep in her own head that she wasted the day. "Uh, I'll be ready in like 10 minutes," she leaves the door open and turns toward her dresser.

As she rifles through clothing, Camila can feel Lucy still staring at her from the doorway.

"You can come in if you want," Camila calls out. She sniffs a piece of clothing and grimaces at the smell.

Lucy simply sits there and watches the new girl as she tries on different kinds of shirts. It's when she puts on a blue flannel that Lucy speaks.

"That one, it looks really good on you." Camila gives the girl a half smile before going to the bathroom to put on the shirt and a new pair of pants.

When Camila steps out of the bathroom Lucy gives her a thumbs up. The girl goes over and straightens out the brunette's shirt and brushes her hand over a wrinkle in her pants.

The touch of Lucy's hand on her upper thigh causes Camila to straighten up suddenly. At the same moment, Mal and Jay happen to walk into the room.

"Wow Lucy you wasted no time."

Both Camila and Lucy jump at Mal's voice. The princess jumps back about three feet from the brunette and looks towards the two other kids. "What're you guys doing here?"

Jay and Mal look between each other and Jay speaks up. "Uh... it's a villain kid meeting..."

"But what about the party?" Lucy asks curiously. "Camila and I were gonna go together so she could make some new friends."

"None of us can go, Fairy Godmother asked us to talk with Camila."

Camila raises an eyebrow at the two of them. She can tell when they're lying, they grew up doing it, but she doesn't know why. Her eyes dart to Mal and she sees the green-eyed girl mouthing something. Camila's eyes narrow and she focuses on the way Mal's lips move.

After the third attempt, her brain clicks. She checks her watch and that's when she sees the small full moon insignia flashing at the corner of the screen.

"Oh shit you guys are right!" she lies smoothly. "Maybe I'll come later and we can dance together?"

Lucy looks mildly disheartened but she nods her head. "Okay, I'll save a dance for you." She gives Camila an awkward wave before she turns away and walks out of the door.

Mal moves her head to watch Lucy walk down the hall and enter her room. When she's sure the coast is clear, she and Jay grab Camila and begin leading her down the hall.

"Where are we going?" Camila asks. She stumbles as the two teens in front of her drag her down the corridor. She knows they're going to do something to keep her stable as she turns but she doesn't know what.

"You're coming to mine and Carlos' room. We think we figured out a way to keep you calm during your shifts."

Those words shock Camila. She's never been able to prevent her turning. She's tried mediation, tranquilizers, and some of Mal's magic, but none of it has ever worked. The only thing she managed to achieve was replacing her wooden door with one of solid metal, and barring her bedroom window.

Her mind wanders to what on earth could keep her from turning. Maybe Evie and Mal managed to conjure up a working spell, or maybe Fairy Godmother brewed her a potion. Whatever it is, she feels excited about possibly being able to tame this.

The excitement disappears the moment they enter Jay and Carlos' dorm though. She sees Evie holding a pair of shackles that are emitting a green glow, and she already knows where this is going.

Without hesitation, Camila grabs them and begins putting them on her wrists. She doesn't look up as she does so, feeling immense shame as her only friends watch her chain herself. "Um, you guys might want to leave... My shifts get pretty bad..."

None of the kids move to leave. "We're staying with you Dog-Breath," Mal says. "Plus, I enchanted the shackles to keep your body from changing."

"Will I still feel the pain?"

Carlos looks at the girl for a moment. "What pain do you feel?"

Camila shrugs her shoulders. "My bones break and my muscles rip to mold to the body of my wolf, and then they re-break and re-rip when I turn back. It's not exactly pleasant." She turns towards Mal so that the girl can lock the shackles into place.

"I didn't know it hurts when you turn, Mila. If I had known I could've changed the enchantment."

"Don't worry about it," Camila says. She tries her hardest to not sound upset about it, but the upcoming pain causes her so much anguish that she's sure it's obvious she's disheartened.

"So we just... wait then?" Jay asks.

The brunette nods her head. "It usually starts once the sun has set, and it lasts until it rises." She strolls to the foot of one of Jays' bed and simply sits down. "I'm sure this is still going to hurt a lot so if you guys want to leave, I get it."

Again, none of the kids make a move to leave. Instead, all four of them sit down near the girl and take out something to do. Mal begins reading through her spell book, Evie begins sowing some fabrics, Jay begins playing video games from his spot on the floor, and Carlos pulls out a design notebook. Camila looks to all of them and smiles softly. No one has ever been with her during one of her episodes, but to have someone here to care for her makes her instantly feel safer.

Once everyone is comfortable, Camila leans back against the bed and closes her eyes to wait.
