<• hiccup's POV •>

"So you he could beat pitch but not me? I'm better than I thought!" jack's voice voice was faint as I slowly regained consciousness.

"Did you beat pitch on your first try?" a female voice said mockingly. it wasn't Rapunzel's or Merida's, but I know I've heard it before.

Jack didn't seem to respond for awhile. ".... oh shut up, tooth."

I cracked open my eyes to see everyone, and I mean all the guardians, in the same room. they weren't focused on me, which I was glad about because I didn't want to be put on the spot.

Merida was the only one looking at me but she didn't tell anyone I woke up.

So I mouthed, 'hi', which made her blush. and I guess her expression was enough for everyone to realize what was happening.

"Ah... hiccup." north boomed, walking over to my bed. "You're awake."

"Feeling spiffy?" the tooth fairy giggled and fluttered over to the other side of my bed.

"Uh... yeah, spiffy." I replied awkwardly.

Jack, rapunzel and Merida knelt on my right side as I sat up, (thanks to the sand man adding extra pillows).

"We told them everything." jack cleared his throat. "and I mean everything. rapunzel added every detail."

Rapunzel smiled proudly and nodded to me and jack.

"It kind of surprised us, you know? about pitch." tooth said softly.

"Aye." the Easter bunny spoke up from the door way. "I'm just glad we didn't have to do a bloody thing."

I laugh and look over at Jack. "I guess we're evenly matched, eh?"

He blushed and looked away. "yeah right."

"So." north cut in. "guardian of logic, guardian of creativity and guardian of bravery."

"Yeah." the three of us said together.

"Welcome to the league of guardians." north chuckled. "maybe we should leave. I need to talk to... rapunzel and jack about something."

Everyone nodded except for me and Merida who looked totally confused when north looked at her. "you should keep him company."

"W-wait-!" Merida stuttered. but too late, everyone left.

"What are they planning?" I ask and adjust my position uncomfortably.

Merida just ignores my question and looked at my condition. "I'm so sorry."

I looked down at my body and just realized how damaged I was. I had a cast on my actual foot and hand. but to make it worse, my prosthetic foot was gone. "uhhh..."

"It was damaged..." she sighed and looked away. "pitch dented it so it didn't function properly. north and the yetis are making a new one for you."

I looked down at the stub that used to be my foot.

"I should probably help..." I say as I tried to get up but Merida pushed me back down gently.

"Please hiccup, you can't even walk right now."

I sigh and got settled back in my bed.

"I'm sorry." Merida says, her voice a little tight. "I should've stepped in while you were fighting. you might've been up on your feet right now."

"No merida... you didn't need to, I'm alright with it, really." unintentionally, I took her hand and gripped it softly. "just having you there watching from the side lines was all I needed. it... it gave me a purpose. you told me that there is something worth protecting."

Merida's cheeks began to blush. "I.... You..... You kissed me."

Now I could literally feel my whole body getting warm. I was red from my head to my feet. "I remember."

"Why?"

My mind was racing. I didn't have control on what I was about to say. but I knew deep down that I meant it. "I love you."

Her eyes widen only for a second but then she returns with a smile. "I never knew I could love someone like this."

I brought her head closer and kissed her quick enough before toothless knocked the door down.

Of course we were both startled but the silence was then filled my laughter and the sound of toothless's tongue against my face.

"I'm glad you're alright too pal."

I didn't really like this chapter but finally merricup.
Sadly, the next chapter is the last part. but you can always read my ROTBTD: demigods which I think is 100% better than this.
