"Are surprised jack?" Pitch said with bitterness.

"Why are you here?" jack tries to say with courage, but it comes out a whimper.

"Oh..." pitch faked a frown and circled the four guardians. "I guess surprised was the wrong word, fear is more suitable."

Jack Frost was unaware how to raise his staff. he was confused and unfortunately frightened. how could pitch be back? he imprisoned him. the guardians buried him in his lair. how could he come back?

"Who are these children?" Pitch grinned wickedly. rapunzel stepped behind jack.

"Who are you? that's the question." Merida stepped up.

"Didn't I just say? I'm pitch black! the boogeyman!"

Merida snorted, her smirk was clearly showing her bravery and humor but, in her eyes, you could see her confusion. "boogeyman? you mean the guy who hides under beds and inside closets?"

"Who started that legend?" pitch cocked an eyebrow at her... and Merida didn't answer. "Please my dear, tell me your name. tell me all your friend's name's."

"Merida..." she croaked.

The guardians looked at her with curiosity.

"Rapunzel!" rapunzel blurted out, but quickly covering her mouth with jack's sleeve."

"How are you-?" jack started.

"-Hiccup!" Hiccup yelled from behind everybody.

Pitch smirked. "I've been practicing jack. my power is stronger and this time you and the guardians don't stand a chance."

"You thought wrong." jack resisted.

"Do you need proof? I found new powers that will make you believe!" pitch exclaimed.

The boogeyman made a javelin from his black sand.

"I've seen stuff like that countless times." Jack says, trying to stand up straighter.

"I didn't explain it." pitch chuckled. "so eager, jack. lets get right to it?"

Jack furrowed his eyebrows and clutched his staff.

Pitch smirked and threw the javelin, aimed at merida's heart. he threw it so quickly jack wasn't sure if he could freeze it. fortunately, jack shot ice right at the last moment, the spear point a millimeter from Merida's heart.

Jack looked back to see another javelin in pitch's hand. "you're no fun." he faked a pout and aimed at the now open rapunzel.

Jack was the only one who could help, rapunzel and hiccup don't know how to use their powers to stop his magic. and Merida didn't even get hers yet.

Pitch threw the javelin as quick as lightning, rapunzel didn't move.

"NO!" jack yelled.

There was no time to use ice. jack ran to rapunzel and pushed her out of the way. jack collapsed to the ground, the javelin stuck out by his heart.

Rapunzel yelped with horror.

"Ah... he was a great hero... soon he'll be dark and he'll belong to me." pitch grinned. "I'll leave you alone, and you will see the surprise yourself."

No one said a thing.

Pitch disappeared into the shadows.

Everyone crowded around jack's body. good news? he was alive, but barely. bad news? he had a stick stuck through his heart.

Rapunzel took a strand of her hair and put it over jack's wound.

"What are you doing?" hiccup says, trying to stay calm, but his voice cracked mid sentence.

"Healing." she replied and took a deep breath. Merida and hiccup exchanged looks.

Rapunzel opened her mouth to sing but it was interrupted by the black javelin.

The stick began to sink into jack's body. but it wasn't gone. it left a black blob mark on jack's chest. the black sand was on his bare chest but the guardians could see it rise up against his sweat shirt.

"What?" Merida sniffed and furrowed her eyebrows.

Jack's eyes flicked open.
