Roberts POV

It was around 7 PM as I made my way to my room and quietly shut my door, locking it afterwards. I didn't have a very good family life, so being home was usually a struggle for me, especially with my dad around. My mom is more soft and understanding, she was always the first one to comfort me when I got hurt as a kid, giving me kisses, hugs, and saying things to cheer me up. While my dad is just more stern and strict with things, he didn't spend much time with me growing up but we did have our father-son moments. But ever since he lost his job he hasn't been the same, drinking, going out, staying up late, and fighting with my mom every chance he got. Normally I would always be in Radford's room with him, but he had a late night shift this week so he won't be home until around 2 AM, and Robin is never around cause she has her own place and job, but she visits Riley as much as she can, I wish she would pick me up sometimes to see her too though. I flopped onto my bed staring up at my ceiling, I was bored, what was I supposed to do here? My mom wasn't home and normally she would let me out, but she was also working late, and being home alone with my dad SUCKED. He never lets me do anything, I can't go out, call my friends, or even make myself food! I don't understand him, I swear he just wants this family to be as miserable as possible.

While I was looking at the ceiling my phone next to me gave me a quick buzz, I turned my head to see my phone next to me with the notification on my Home Screen that said "Ross" I sat up properly on my bed, and grabbed my phone, putting in my password and going to see what Ross texted me.
Ross: hey rob
Robert: Hey!
Ross: wyd rn?
Robert: Nothing, I'm stuck home alone with my dad and he won't let me do anything, I've just been staring at my ceiling these past few minutes.
Ross: ugh really? god he's so annoying
Robert: He really is! It sucks when my mom isn't around.
Ross: what if I come pay a visit?
Ross: it's not like he comes in your room anyway
Robert: Ross I love you, but knowing us we make a lot of noise, and noise attracts my dad since I'm never loud when I'm home. :(
Ross: crap, true
Ross: i think I have an idea, we'll figure something out once I get there
Robert: What do you mean?
Robert: Get where?
Robert: Ross?
I stared at my phone, I couldn't tell if Ross was coming over to my place to talk or if he was going somewhere else, these types of things I weren't good with understanding. But if I'm being honest, I'm kinda worried, the things my dad would do if he found out Ross snuck over would be horrible, not only for me, but for Ross too. I put my phone down and flopped back onto my bed, looking up at the glow star stickers I had on my ceiling that were slightly glowing, my lamp that was turned on making it slightly difficult to see their full glow, but I was far too lazy to turn them off right now, maybe later.

Ross' POV

I got everything I thought we would need and shoved them into my backpack, snacks, a blanket, water, the usual, before I slowly slid down my window, not risking putting the ladder down for me to climb down because it made too much noise and would probably alert my mom. Instead I just slowly slid down my window frame from the downstairs bathrooms to the living room, before jumping on the grass and hopping my way over the fence, I wasn't gonna risk going out in the front because my mom hated it when I snuck out, and whenever I get caught I usually get in trouble. The sun was going down fast so I quickly tried to make my way to Robert's house which wasn't very far from mine, only about three blocks. I was hopping from fence to fence from people's backyards, I even ended up in Susie and Pumps backyard before I found my way to the street, starting to walk along the sidewalk. My plan was simple, knowing Robert's dad, he never comes into Rob's room and asks him for anything, plus Robert normally keeps his door locked at all times, and his dad always thinks he's sleeping whenever Robert doesn't answer, so I'm sure my plan was gonna go just fine. I hopped the last fence that lead into Robert's backyard and made my way to his room window, I peeked in to see Robert laying on his bed looking at his ceiling, man, he wasn't lying when he said he wasn't doing anything.

I gave the window a few small knocks that caught Robert's attention quickly as I saw him get up from his bed and look at his window, before getting off his bed and making his way to open it. I could tell he tried to open his window as quietly as possible, as the glass frame that was blocking us was now removed. "Ross! What are you doing here?!" He said in a whisper-like yell, I chuckled before whispering back. "Saving you! Get your stuff and let's go!" "Dude, are you crazy?" "You trust me, don't you? It's not like your dad is gonna need you for anything, and if anything goes wrong we'll come right back." Robert stared at me before looking back into his room for a few seconds, he sighed and then turned back to me. "Fine you dork, lemme get my stuff." Before he could turn around back into his room I grabbed his hand and he turned back to look at me, I gave him a small peck on the lips before I let go of his hand and gave him a gesture to continue what he wanted to do. He smiled before backing away from his window and grabbing his hat along with a blue hoodie that he borrowed from me a bit ago, quickly putting them on before making his way back to his window as he took my hand and crawled out his window. "Where are we even going anyways?" He asked as he started following me "You'll see, it's a bit of a walk but I think it's pretty worth it." "How long of a walk are we talking about?" "Ehhhh.. 23 minutes maybe?" "I guess that's not so bad, I could go for a walk anyway."

Robert's POV

After about 20 minutes of me and Ross chatting about school, family life, and joking around I followed Ross to an area I wasn't familiar with, It looked like an old abandoned ghost town, a small city with all the lights shut off, the sound of birds and owls and the sight of overgrown vines on certain areas, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little scared. It was dark now and the only thing guiding me was Ross and the flashlight coming from his phone, "We're almost there Rob!" He said as he took his hand into mine and we walked up to the entrance of a tall building, the door was one of those clear glass ones that would automatically open when it sensed people near. Ross let go of my hand and picked up a big stick from the ground and flipped a pocket knife out of his pocket, he cracked the door open that looked like it was plied shut with his pocket knife, and stuck the stick in quickly, before pushing the door open with his back while giving me a gesture to make my way in. I quickly stepped in and watched Ross close the door and put the stick on the floor, making it so it was still holding the door open for when we needed to get out. "The only thing we need to do now is go up a bunch of stairs." I gave him a confused expression before he took my hand again and started leading me to the staircase as we started to make our way up. "It's a little bit of a climb, sorry I know this isn't our usual sneak-out type of stuff, but I wanted to try something new," Ross said while making eye contact with me while we walked up the stairs together, holding hands. I smiled before speaking "I don't mind, It's better than being at home alone with mister drink and drunk." He smiled with his little v-shaped smile "Now that we're here, mind telling me what exactly your plan is?" Ross looked at me for a split second before looking ahead of him "We're here!" I looked ahead of us to see a door that read "floor 13" on it, Ross ran to the door but stopped for a second before turning back to look at me.

Ross' POV

I ran to Robert and covered his eyes with one of my hands while my other took ahold of his, "Ross wha-" "Don't worry, I got you, I don't wanna spoil this for you yet." I slowly started walking to the door as Robert followed with his hand in mine, I was slightly on my tippy toes because Robert was much taller than me and Roy, sometimes I even had to step on my tippy toes to kiss him, but I didn't mind. I opened the door by pushing my back against it, still guiding Robert so he wouldn't hit the door. We were on top of the roof, green vibrant vines growing around the edges of the barrier and on old shut-down power generators, old crushed-up leaves from winter and fall that got trapped up here scattered around the corners. And above us were the brightest stars I've ever seen, they were so clear and everywhere, you could see every single one of them, and I pay attention to the things Robert talks about, and he really likes to talk about stars and space. I walked to the middle while still holding onto Robert's hand, I slowly let go of him and he looked a little nervous. "This isn't one of you and Roy's pranks right?" He said in a nervous tone, I laughed before speaking. "Look up and open your eyes." He slowly opened his eyes and blinked twice before having a shocked expression on his face, I slowly watched his shocked expression turn into a bundle of excitement and joy, he clutched his fist and brought them up to his chest, slightly shaking a bit while smiling and admiring the sky. While Robert's eyes wondered the sky above us, I took my backpack off and took out the blanket I had in it, placing it on the stone-cold floor below us. I sat down on the blanket and watched Robert as his face was lit with pure excitement, he looked at me, his smile bigger than ever, I smiled back and patted down on the blanket, giving him a gesture to come and sit down beside me. 

He sat down beside me on the blanket, looking up at the sky before looking at me to speak, "Ross, this place is amazing! How'd you find this area?" I scratched my neck nervously before speaking "I was bored and snuck out one time, I just let my feet wander and somehow I found this place. Apparently, it was a super small town called Ivyville, which by the looks of it now makes up for its name. I stayed here for too long and it got dark, but I noticed how pretty the stars were and wanted to get a better look, so I went up the tallest building, and y'know, here we are now. It reminded me of you and I thought you'd like to see it too." Robert smiled. "Aw Ross, I love it! I have to bring my telescope here at some point!" "I'm glad you like it." Robert smiled and leaned his head on my shoulder while we looked up at the stars together. Talked for a good while, joked around, listened to music, and admired the sky. After an hour or two, I noticed Robert starting to get tired, I wasn't paying attention to the time but it was 10:23 PM and Robert normally falls asleep around 9:40, he was laying on my shoulder drifting off, his eyes hardly open and accidentally almost falling off my shoulder before he catches himself. "Tired?" I asked, getting a small question-like hum in response. "C'mon sleepy head, let's get you home." I tried to pick Robert up a little before he got up himself and stood up slightly wobbling, I laughed a bit and took his hand, and walked to the door that was going to lead up down all those stairs we climbed up. "Don't fall," I said gripping his hand tighter as I noticed it slightly woke him up more. "I know, I know." We walked down the stairs together, until we hit the bottom, I noticed Robert was a little more awake now that we were moving and the noise that was being made, but still very tired. 

Once we were on the last floor I grabbed the stick from the door we were going to leave and opened it for Robert, once he was outside I also stepped out and removed the stick from the door that was holding it open, It shut and made a loud sound, slightly making me and Robert jump. I grabbed his hand again before speaking, "Ready to go?" Robert yawned and gave me a small proper "Yeah." In response. I smiled and we made our way back to his house which took a little bit, but once we got there I opened Robert's window for him to climb in, he stumbled into his room with me following behind, he took off my hoodie that he was wearing and threw it at my face, while he took his hat off and put it on his nightstand, crawling into his bed afterwards. I laughed a bit and turned off his lamp for him, before giving him a kiss on his cheek and saying, "Goodnight." I turned away but Robert grabbed my hand. "Stay with meee.." He whined, I laughed and gave him a confused look. "You know I can't! My mom will kill me if she found out I snuck out again, and your dad is home, remember?" "My door is lockkkeddd, there's so way he's coming innn.. Don't gooooo..." Robert slowly let go of my hand with a pouty look on his face and I gave in and sighed, "Fine, I'll text my mom, I'll just wear this hoodie you borrowed from me for school tomorrow." Robert smiled, knowing he beat me in his own game before letting out a small tired "Yeeeesssss..." In victory. I laughed and sat on his bed, taking off my beanie and sweatshirt, revealing the dark blue t-shirt under it. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and shot my mom a few quick texts before getting under the covers with Robert and laying down. He smiled and leaned against me, "The stars were really nice today, I'm glad you took me to go see them."  "I'm glad you liked them, now get some sleep." I started to run my fingers through Robert's hair, making him drift off faster before he mumbled a little "I love you." through his teeth. "I love you too." I said as we slowly started drifting off together.

Ross: hey mom, sorry i uh went out again without telling you, i'm staying over at robert's place

Jaune: Oh Ross, you are just like me when I was your age! But you better come home after school tomorrow and no more sneaking out without telling me please

Ross: don't get your hopes up, love u goodnight
