Let Them Hear
-
The sound of Jisoo's ringtone blasting off effectively disrupted the cheery conversation and atmosphere currently engulfing the Wednesday brunch table.
All pairs of eyes - Irene's, Seulgi's, Lisa's, and Chaeyoung's - turned immediately towards the direction of the ringing noise, and then to a still unbothered brunette, who's just going on with practically inhaling everything on her plate.
It's as if her friends' stares were even louder than the blasting ringtone, because Jisoo turned to face the others questioningly when she noticed them looking at her funny.
"What?"
Chaeyoung tried to contain a smile, but failed, finding the older girl's genuinely confused facial expression absolutely adorable.
On the other hand, the eldest of the group shot Jisoo a look, "Your phone, Kim Jisoo." Irene said in a firm tone, effectively making the former shudder in fear, eyes widening in realization.
"Oh, right. Sorry, this Belgian waffle's just really good." She chuckled nervously, almost choking on her food. Standing up, she reached over to grab her phone. "If you guys don't mind-"
"Oh, please." Irene cuts her off, annoyance dripping on her tone, making Jisoo frown and the others chuckle.
"You're rude." Jisoo mumbled grumpily before stepping away to take the phone call.
Lisa shook her head in amusement. "What is up with her? She's been acting really weird since this morning."
The question, however, had Seulgi laughing out loud, food almost spitting out of her mouth, making Irene frown.
"Ooooh. I bet it's the lack of sleep, eh, Rosie?" She teased, causing the blonde to blush and Lisa, to burst out in hysterics, as well.
But Lisa didn't laugh because of Seulgi's teasing. She laughed because, "Seriously, Kang Seulgi? What is this, ninth grade slumber party?" Irene scolded, rolling her eyes as she wiped the waffle crumbs off her wife's mouth. "And stop spitting your food, Jesus Christ, you're 30!"
The statement also had Chaeyoung laughing, sticking her tongue out teasingly at a snickering Seulgi, like a sibling who just got favored by her mom.
"What do you guys think that phone call is about, anyway?" Chaeyoung asked, taking a bite off her hash brown.
The question received a shrug from both Seulgi and Lisa, while Irene rolled her eyes in obvious irritation.
"Oh, I just remembered. Jisoo mentioned to me the other night, at Jihyo and Daniel's party, something about her cousin getting back in town for the big wedding this Saturday."
Seulgi narrowed her eyes in confusion. "What? Isn't it Kai's wedding to begin with?"
"Not Kai. The asshole cousin, Taehyung." The oldest woman spat, almost venomously, while Seulgi's mouth just formed a wide O-shape in realization.
Chaeyoung's expression turned sour at the unfamiliar name. "Who?"
Meanwhile, Lisa just chuckled forcedly to herself, shaking her head.
"Kim Taehyung, it's Chu and Kai's other cousin." She explained, making Chaeyoung turn to face her this time. And Chaeyoung would be lying if she said she didn't see the slightest hint of dullness in the Thai's eyes. "The guy who Mina cheated on me with."
-
Jisoo sighed, swallowing the growing lump in her throat as she pressed the green button on her phone with slightly shaky hands.
"What?" She spat, which immediately received a wicked chuckle from the other line.
"Cousin Jisoo, finally got to hear your voice again." Taehyung's voice came ringing against Jisoo's ears on the other line, making the brunette scoff. "Have you missed me? Certainly, cousin Kai did."
Jisoo rolled her eyes, swearing she could hear her cousin's devilish smirk as he spoke.
"I'm not so sure about that, Taehyung. You may be forgetting something about you, screwing Lisa's ex-girlfriend while they were still together, no?"
Taehyung scoffed on the other line, too, and Jisoo had to stop the urge inside of her to drop the call.
"Come on, cousin. That was years ago. Mina and I aren't together, anymore. Even cousin Kai has already gotten over it." Taehyung said, and Jisoo rolled her eyes in disbelief, "Besides, it's not really my fault Mina chose me over Manoban, is it?"
"Are you fucking kidding me, Taehyung?" Jisoo spat to her cousin over the phone, patience long vanished. "Even if it was centuries ago, you should've fucking known Mina's off limits because she was Lisa's girlfriend."
"Yeah? Mina wanted it, too."
"Unbelievable." Jisoo exhaled rather sharply, "Lisa is Kai's best friend, you fucking bastard."
"Exactly. His best friend, not mine." Taehyung's amused voice echoes Jisoo's ears, effectively making Jisoo's blood boil. "It's nice catching up with you, cousin Jisoo. I'll see you at the wedding."
With that, Taehyung dropped the call, and Jisoo was left scoffing to herself in utter annoyance and disbelief.
She swears, she despises Taehyung to hell and back, and she's not even exaggerating a bit when she says that.
He's rude and spoiled and insensitive and is the real definition of a trust fund baby. He's an asshole who thinks so highly of himself, that he must get anything he decides he wants to get no matter what on earth even it was, or to whose pessession it currently is.
She didn't even understand how on dear heavens is she even related to him. She and Kai aren't like that, and most certainly Taehyung's parents are the kindest people in the world.
Well, there's always one in every family, especially in a family of socialites.
Now, it turns out that Taehyung is also invited to Kai and Jennie's wedding this Saturday, (but Jisoo was sure that if only he wasn't family, Kai wouldn't even shoot him a one-worded text asking if he was still alive, especially after ruining Lisa's relationship with Mina.) And Jisoo didn't like the way she has a bad feeling about this, at all.
She just hopes Taehyung wouldn't cause too much trouble.
"Hey, sexy." A familiar Aussie-accented voice suddenly came ringing against Jisoo's ears, effectively pulling her out of her thoughts and making her turn around, only to see a smiling Chaeyoung slowly approaching her spot. "A penny for your thoughts?"
Jisoo chuckled, swallowing the lump in her throat before shaking her head.
"Are you really calling me sexy right now, when our friends are, literally, only a few meters away from our spot?" She teased, seemingly avoiding the question. "I didn't even know you had such courage in you, Ms. Park."
"Oh, please. Let them hear." Chaeyoung smirked, before raising her eyebrow, arms crossing over her chest as she watched Jisoo suspisciously this time. "Is everything alright?"
Jisoo just smiled reassuringly at the blonde, "Of course. Why won't it be?"
Chaeyoung narrowed her eyes. She jutted her bottom lip out and shrugged.
And Jisoo thought it was just adorable. "How're you, Chaeng?" She asked in a rather softer tone, completely turning the topic around.
Rolling her eyes, the blonde took a few steps forward, almost closing the gap in between hers and Jisoo's bodies as she wrapped her arms securely around Jisoo's neck.
"Honestly? I am actually feeling so horny right now, just looking at you like that." She breathed out, voice deeper than the usual, instantly sending cold shivers down Jisoo's spine. "Just inhaling your scent, playing with your hair." She sent the brunette a sly smirk as she lets her hands swim freely through Jisoo's thick, brown locks, "Just staring at those lips, and feeling up your toned chest," Eyes glancing down the older girl's slightly parted lips, Chaeyoung pushed herself even further against Jisoo's front as she ran her pointer finger down the latter's chest. "So, what do you say we ditch our friends to brunch and, I don't know, maybe get the fuck out of here?"
And by the way Jisoo pulled Chaeyoung's hips closer to her, flushing their bodies together as she crashed her lips aggressively against the blonde's,
Chaeyoung knew it was an obvious yes.
