"How did this happen?" I asked quickly. Clawmarks lay across his flank. "I went out to collect some herbs and came back to this!" Creampaw screeched. "Where's Hazelwing?" I asked, worry rising in my heart. "She went with me. She said we needed a lot of herbs." 

I starred at the limp body of Volewhisker. This wasn't an accident this was murder. I looked around at the shocked faces of the cats. Darkstar was crouched over Volewhisker's body. He was crying. "Brother, why must you go?" He whisperd.

"All cat's old enough to catch their own Finch gather round!" Darkstar called from the great stump.

I rushed out of the warrior's den, I knew he was picking the new deputy. I doubted it would be me, since im a new warrior.

I sat down and starred at him. "Tonight we must have a new deputy. Clan life must go on, but we will always miss Volewhisker. For his courage and honesty. But the new deputy shall be Roseleaf." He yowled into the crisp night air.

Me? Out of all cats me. "Darkstar, are you sure, im new at being a warrior and everything. I mean are you sure. Of you are I accept." Darkstar nodded. "I will stand by all of you when needed. Even when not needed I will always be loyal to you all." I said in front of my clan. Only if Blackice and Wolffang could see me now...

I sat with Darkstar in his den. "Who do you think killed Volewhisker?" He growled. I sat thinking. "Everyone loved Volewhisker. Maybe a cat from another clan. I mean Emberclan had always been a bit mysterious." I spoke quietly, deep in thought.

 I stood over their deputy. Puny, worthless warrior. No one knew about me. They didn't need to know.

I stepped into my clan, Emberclan. I nodded my head to Emberstar. Frecklepaw glared at me as I walked by.

I slid inot my medicane den and started sorting herbs. Tansy, Marigold, cobwebs. Someone walked in interupting my thoughts. "Bloodmoon, I need help with a thorn."
