Theo had just been dumped by her now-ex after she got upset because he was cheating. She caught him just making out with some guy, not even trying to hide. He broke up with her, then told the whole school that Theo cheated. Then he stayed with the guy he was making out with. Disgusting.

He's in my study hall period, so I talked to him about it. We used to be really good friends, anyway. I'm just really upset. For Theo?

"George?"

"What? I'm trying to watch a show," he said pointing to his phone screen.

I stood there waiting. He's watching Friends. Classicc.

He pulled out his earbuds and paused the episode. "What do you want, Hamilton?"

"Why are you telling people Theo cheated?"

"Who?"

I rolled my eyes. "Theodosia, the girl you broke up wi-"

"Ohh right. Because I want to."

"That's not true though. And that's just a shitty thing to do, blaming her for something you did."

"She was a bitch and so, it seems, are you."

"It's like that?"

"Yeah. I don't fool around. Don't care about your little girlfriend," he said mockingly, "nor do I like you, so leave."

"Make me."

"Oh?"

"Fight me."

"After school. I know where to find you. Piss off, I'm watching this show now." With that, he put his earbuds back in and resumed the show.

When he finally left and I was about to go home, I received a text from Theo.

Theodosia✨: Why did you walk home?

Philip⭐️: What?

Theodosia✨: You went behind the school.

Philip⭐️: Oh. I got in a fight.

Theodosia✨: Omg really?? Why? What happened??

Philip⭐️: George. During study hall he was being a dick about you.

Theodosia✨: So you tried to stand up for me by smackin a bitch?

Philip⭐️: He punched me but,,

Philip⭐️: Sure

Theodosia✨: Are you hurt?

Philip⭐️: Meh just bruising and a tiny cut on my forehead

She came over later. We're doing "homework." In reality we're just talking about life and other stuff. She's still pretty upset.

"You wanna sleep over here?"

"No, it's okay," she said.

"No, really. I want to make sure you're okay and all that."

"Pip, I'll be okay and all that," she said giggling.

I tried to get up, but instead I fell. On top of her. Our faces were like super close to each other. Neither one of us tried to move.

"Wow."

I smiled. "Yep."

"Clumsy."

"Yep."

"Why are you so nice to me? It's weird."

"Weird?"

"Well, not- You aren't, well I meant you're like the only person who I can talk to or be comfortable around. My mom's never home, my dad's dead, my ex was a dick."

"He needs to suCc a dick."

"If he's a dick but he needs to sUcc one, how does that work?"

"He's gay."

"WHat."

"I don't know.. I just care about you. A whooole lot. You're my bestest bestie and I love you."

"Oh? Heh love you too, bestest bestie."

"Really?"

"What?"

"Never mind."

"Okay."

I propped myself up on my arms, still above Theo. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand

We smiled then,, yeah then my door opened. Pa came in.
