"What brings you here, then?" The spiky-haired man airily laughed as he wordlessly invited himself to sit oppositely to Edgeworth at the modestly decorated table, completely oblivious to the icy cold glower which he was receiving from the silvery-haired man - whom was still trying his very best to figure out how in hell he hadn't noticed his crush's movements towards his table - sat across from him as he did so, completely ignoring the prosecutor's earlier mishap with the tea-cup and filling the silence with his damned innocent question, and that damned radiant smile.

If the prosecutor didn't so desperately want to crush his lips against the other man's undoubtedly-soft lips, gorgeous looks and beautiful personality, he'd certainly slap Phoenix Wright into oblivion on account of how damned annoying his superior social-skills were.

"U-Um, I'm trying to make conversation he-"
"I could say the same to you." Edgeworth rose an eyebrow in amusement to show he was engaging in the conversation, leaning back slightly upon his iron chair and folding his arms, a smirk flickering across his lips as he savoured the sight of the defence attorney before him, his smoothly-combed black hair still unable to escape the firm grasp of untidiness - a few out-of-place strands dotted about here and there, no doubt due to the 10 mile an hour speeds that the man subjected his hair to whilst riding his bicycle to work - and that slightly-ruffled, trademark, royal-blue blazer which, when inspected closely, bore remnants of that coffee which the man had purchased at Starbucks on the way to his office yesterday at 9:30am - something which Edgeworth had proudly witnessed from behind some sort of bench - like proudly-worn badges upon one's lapel. Being the impeccable, socially versed, man he was, Phoenix instantly leapt at the open topic of interest in order to break the ice, excitedly elaborating on the fact that Maya had recently acquired a job at the tearoom and that he regularly stopped by in order to grab a free drink or see how she was getting on - something which, in particular, caught Edgeworth's interest -, constantly digressing on the details in order to babble on about some sort of silly convention in a silly building with a bunch of silly people. The prosecutor listened intently, actively soaking up all the details and plucking them from the clean air.

Interesting.

Very interesting.

So Phoenix had to be at this stupid convention by 2:20pm later that day, huh? Edgeworth couldn't bear the thought of passing up that chance - that open, gaping, doorway. No, to do that would be ridiculous - a heinous affair. That was why he suddenly blurted out mud-conversation;
"I could come with you and lighten up the experience, if you'd like,"
"Hm?"
"You were saying it was going to be excruciatingly tedious, yes?" The silvery-haired man leant forwards slightly on his elbows, towards his companion.
"Well, I'm offering to come with you and be your entertainment." The defence attorney blinked, looking utterly baffled for a moment, before hesitantly replying;
"Sure.."
"What's wrong? Are you not allowed to invite a guest or something?"
"No no no, it's not that. I'm allowed to invite 1 guest." Edgeworth's crush's rosy lips formed a small smile as he childishly swung his legs beneath the table, his face becoming slightly crimson as he hastily continued.
"It's just, um, I feel like you have an ulterior motive or something..." The defence attorney forced an almost-inaudible laugh.
"What?" The prosecutor snapped, startling the shorter man.

There was no way that Phoenix could possibly know about the stalking, rig-

"Sorry, I'm being dumb, aren't I?"
"No. Just, please, tell me why you think I'd.. Use you to get something."
"O-Oh, no! I don't think you'd necessarily do that. You're a good person, Edgeworth. We both know that." Phoenix widened his eyes in shock as he desperately tried to redeem his words.
"Then why?" The silvery-haired man was quick to deflect the compliment - his hands becoming clammy with anticipation. What if Phoenix did know? What if he'd just been playing stupid? These were questions that had to be answered. These were questions that could lead to the prosecutor's imprisonment.

Oh, god.

What if Phoenix was going to press charges?

Edgeworth hadn't anticipated that.

"Well... It's just... You're always saying you're busy, and we never really... Um... Spend time together outside of trials. I just feel like you maybe don't consider me a friend - or something stupid like that.." The defence attorney mumbled, averting eye-contact for the first time that the prosecutor could remember.

Damned, idiot, stupid, rubbish Wright.

How could someone possibly be so close to the truth by pure chance - and not realise it?

Of course Phoenix wasn't a 'friend' to Edgeworth.

Phoenix Wright was Edgeworth's goal.
His dream.
His favourite hello and hated goodbye.
His beautiful night sky.
His desktop background.
His framed photo atop his bedside table.
He was so much more than a friend to the silvery-haired man.

So why couldn't he see how much affection - how much love - he was being given from afar? From a pair of watching eyes?

"O-Oh, and, by the way.. I'm happy to invite you to the convention with me - if you want,"
