Prologue- The Mastermind
***Just like the play, there will be a prologue for each act. This is the prologue for Act 1. The prologues will mostly come into play during the end of Act 3.***
Julie stood before the doors to the theater, her lips quivering from the chills that ran down her spine. The relentless rain poured down, casting a somber, ominous shadow over her small frame. Her eyes, reddened from crying, locked onto the person she once trusted with her entire life, now feeling nothing but betrayal coursing through her veins. Raindrops mingled with her tears, a testament to the storm raging within her.
As the person stood behind the safety of the doors, her anger only grew. Seeing the despicable smile plastered onto their lips through the window, Julie had confirmed everything. This monster had managed to manipulate her entire life, and she let it happen.
"I hate you," she muttered, her words muffled by the sound of raindrops splattering on the ground. The air was thick with tension, the atmosphere heavy and melancholic as the rain enveloped them in its cold embrace. "More than I ever thought possible. You ruined my entire life!"
Her face, once radiant, was now dull and lined with dried streaks of tears, evidence of the heartache she endured. This betrayal cut deeper than any wound she could've gotten, piercing her like a dagger to the heart. How could she have blindly followed someone who had left her entire life in shambles?
"You never had one to begin with," the person retorted, their voice cold and callous, further fueling Julie's fury. The rain seemed to echo their heartless words, each drop like a mocking echo in the silence that followed.
Infuriated, Julie let out a deep, broken sigh, her hands thrown in the air in disbelief. A small, bitter laugh escaped her lips, a mix of hurt and anguish lingering in her expression. She had trusted this person with everything, only to discover that 'everything' wasn't real.
"Can you cut it with your act already?" Julie demanded, her composure crumbling. The rain intensified, cascading down in relentless torrents, as if it was mirroring Julie's rage. "It's really pissing me off now. I've seen enough to know who you really are."
"Did you like it?" the person asked, their words laced with a twisted sense of satisfaction. The rain seemed to dance around them, as if in anticipation of Julie's response.
"Like what?" Julie retorted, her voice rising with emotion. "The pain and agony that you put me through? I'm done with this, with you." Her words were like thunder, crashing through the stormy air. As if the clouds had overheard her confrontation, lightning struck quietly, illuminating the field behind the two to get a better view.
Determined to leave, Julie grabbed her bag, attempting to walk away from the person who had caused her so much pain. But just as she took a step forward, she was stopped in her tracks by the sound of a haunting voice, a voice that had invaded her dreams– now nightmares –for far too long.
"Roses are red," it began, and Julie froze, her heart pounding in her chest. Goosebumps trailed up her arms at the sound of the familiar poem, a chilling reminder of the sinister games she'd been led to play.
Julie's fingers clawed at her skin in a desperate attempt to hide her fear, but there was no escaping the overwhelming dread that enveloped her. It felt as though the entire world was collapsing before her eyes, leaving her powerless and vulnerable.
Everything she thought she knew was a lie. Every word, every gesture, every moment they shared was nothing more than an act, a cruel and manipulative charade that had shattered her world.
"Violets aren't blue," Julie gritted through her teeth, refusing to let this person have any more power over her. The rain continued to pour, a relentless downpour, that seemed as if it would never end.
"I was bored, but then I saw you."
A/N: A small detail you may not have noticed is... ***drumroll please*** The banner! It's just "violets." The next 18-ish chapters will have the rose banner, but if you'd like to take a guess at why the banners change during prologues, go for it!
