Before we start, I would like to clarify that the original Romeo and Juliet is NOT a romance story. It's a tragedy. This rewrite will be a romance, but the ORIGINAL IS NOT. That being said, the names are similar for the most part so if you have read the play, it will be easier to visualize the characters.

Side note: This is my first time writing in this genre, so my work is a bit... rough. I'm not used to writing immature teens yet :,) But as the drafts progress, it will get better. Fantasy is usually my go-to genre, but trying new things is always fun and helpful.

Few things that will inevitably change because this takes place in the 21st century:

1. Juliet is not 13 and Romeo is not 16-21. That's illegal and frankly kind of weird considering that this interpretation is going to be in our current time period. To make everyone's lives easier, they are both 18, meaning they are not minors.

2. The sexual references about SA and other things made throughout the entire play? Yeah, no. Those have got to go. They will probably be replaced with harsh language or something of the sort.

3. The sword fighting every few chapters will also be removed. People don't carry around swords so I hope this one is self-explanatory lol-

4. The Friars and the nursemaid are just going to become friends of Romeo and Juliet. They do play a very big role though, just like the original.

With that out of the way, I need to make one more clarification! The plot will be extremely similar, but I will try to add as many plot twists as possible. It isn't completely similar to the original, but they are alike.

And one more! (This is the last one, I swear.) The original takes place over the course of four days (If you didn't know before, now you do) and that is... weird. So! This one is going to take place over the course of a few months. Just to make this unrealistic story slightly more realistic.
