Benkei's Pov.
Kyoya came back home with tears in his eyes and he was so shaken up that by the time he closed the door behind him he collapsed on the floor before I could catch him. Bruises were starting to form on his wrists, scabs covered the gashes on his collarbone, and deep burns covered his hips. "Kyoya!," I screamed before running to his side so that I could pull him into my arms, he slowly opened his eyes and he wrapped his arms around my shoulders so that he could hug me. I wrapped my arms around his waist tight as I felt his thin body shake against mine but stopped as I heard him whispering. "Kyoya what happened?," I whispered as he slowly pulled back, tears were still in those icy blue eyes and I could see that his bottom lip was swollen and pink. My heart stopped as I remembered him running after Ryuga, No, Ryuga had to have some self- control, He would never hurt Kyoya! Kyoya pushed me away before slowly trying to raise to his feet but only fell over again, I've never seen him so shaken up before. God damn that stupid reptile.
"You have a fever," I said before I picked him up in my arms bridle style, just like I had done last night when he was too drunk to stand. He tried to fight me, clawing at my neck leaving dep scratches, and he glared up at me with hatred but I knew that he was going to feel a lot better after he slept a little more. Training would have to wait, and after Kyoya was well I was going to hunt down that Dragon wannabe and show him what happens when you mess with a bull. I slowly placed Kyoya's head on the pillow and he laid there for a moment motionless, his eyes stared at the ceiling while blood from his open wound dripped onto the sheets. I shook my head before running towards the bathroom to get a towel, I turned on the water while staring at my reflection. I was shocked to see that I looked older with the dark bags around my eyes, my skin was pale and not that radiant glow, and I think I might have lost some weight because of all the stress I have been under lately.
I gasped as I felt the cold water against my skin and quickly turned it off so I could hurry back to Kyoya who was sitting at the edge of the bed. His hair had been released from its bind and it fell wildly around his shoulders while his hands covered his face, covering those beautiful eyes. "Kyoya...," I said before slowly getting on my knees, It always hurt to do so but if it made Kyoya happy then a little pain really didn't mean much to me. I looked through a couple of the cracks in his fingers but he shut them and sat up a little straighter so it would be harder for me to see them. "Are we really going to resort to Peekaboo?," I said with a light hearted smile and he simply shrugged, 'That usually works' I gave a long sigh because I knew that it was going to take a while before I was going to see his smile again. It was rare to begin with and Ryuga may have just made it become extinct, I growled because even thinking the name made me want to go and commit murder.
I mean it is only illegal if you get caught right and I had been a professional thief for almost a whole four to five years in till Kyoya came along to run the business. "Kyoya you are going to have to tell me what happened eventually," I said before raising to my feet so I could take a seat next to him and wrap my arm firmly around his shoulders. I pulled his head to my chest and smiled as I buried my face into his hair that smelled fresh even though he didn't shower the night before. I would never allow this to happen again, Kyoya wasn't the type to draw attention to himself and the fact that he couldn't control himself as he fell to his knees. The tears that were hidden behind those pale hands that were covered by those leather gloves that he had picked up at the local Goodwill store. By "Picked up" I really meant shop lifted but that didn't matter because those days are behind us now.
"Do you want something to drink? Or how about you let me take a look at those burns so they don't get any worse. I also would like to see you smile sometime this decade if you wouldn't mind, just saying I would appreciate it," I said before looking down at him to see that he had loosened up a bit but he still had his hands covering up his face as he held his breath. "Remember Kyoya, I trust you and you need to trust me if we are ever going to work," I said urging him and secretly enjoying the fact that I could call us an item even though that was going to be twice as hard to explain to Madoca or worse that babbling red head. I also didn't want to think about Kenta's reaction because he was still mad about Kyoya for almost blowing away half of bey city but that wasn't completely his fault. Doji had most of the blame on everyone's party but Kyoya could care less what anyone thought of him anyway.
"Ryuga and me had another fight," he mumbled through his hands and I smiled I little relieved to hear his sweet voice that made me squeeze him just a little tighter. "He found out about us sleeping together and he throw his little bitch fit before...," his voice cracked as he tried to stay composed so he wouldn't crack in front of me again, damn. "... He... H-he," he took a deep breath before using his palms to wipe his eyes and slowly lowered his hands so I would be able to see the small droplets that dripped off his chin. "Shit!," he cried out and wiped his eyes with his arm before looking at his wet gloves and gave a small side smile that was so fake it almost hurt to look at. "Well so much for that," he whispered and I gave a small sigh before placing a small kiss on his head because I wasn't willing to push my luck in the state he was in he could very well kill me. This was all my fault because I let this happen, If only I had stopped him and followed my instincts none of this would have happened in the first place!
Our life felt like one you would watch on daytime television and that enough was enough to make me wonder if this is what we wanted. Not only as a couple but as people, Did we really want to be followed around by our past demons all because of who we are and how we live. I had always wanted to be with Kyoya and now that I had him I was wondering if I should have gotten him because of everything that had gotten in the way. We had been together for no more than an hour and Kyoya was having an emotional breakdown and I was defenseless against my racing thoughts. I wanted for us to be happy, not for Kyoya to crack and for me to have to surrender to whatever cruel verdict that fate had chosen for me today. "Kyoya I won't let this happen again. I hope you know that and I'm sorry that this happened to you right after...you know," I said with a steady tone and he looked up at me and I couldn't even recognize that deep shade of blue that seem to have so much feeling to them that I was flabbergasted.
There was so much pain in those eyes. All the pride was gone and the walls seemed to be tumbling down so loud that I swore I could hear them around me as I looked down at him. His fingers rose trembling as he lightly grabbed my cheeks and brought his face up to mine to very lightly put his lips against mine. Tears ran down his cheeks as I ran my hands down his shoulders to lightly wrap my arms around his waist so I would be able to pull him close. "Benkei...," he whispered as he slowly pulled away and he rested his chin against my shoulder as I pulled him into a tighter hug. "Yes Kyoya pal?," I whispered and he gave a small breath as he brought his lips closer to my ear and I closed my eyes as I listened to his sweet breath. His tears fell onto my shoulder but I would gladly take on the rain as long as he was by myside so when it cleared up I would see the blue skies in his eyes. Hey, that was pretty romantic! I must be getting good at this stuff!
"...I think that I might like you," he whispered and I gave a smile as I pulled back so I could look up at him to see that special glisten that now forever was going to belong to me. He may never be able to say I love you but the look in his eyes told me that he was willing to give me it all. The good, the bad, and everything else that would come our way during the long days, months, years that I held him high in my arms. "I will follow you wherever you may go," I whispered and he gave a smile before pulling back so I could place a kiss on his cheek but he put his hand over my mouth with an annoyed look on his face. "That's enough of that," he said before pulling away so he could get up to walk into the kitchen to get the first aid kit so he could take care of those burns that I had no doubt were going to leave a nasty scar. That kind of disappointed me that they were going to ruin his perfect tan skin but I couldn't change the fact that they were going to be there.
"Hey Benkei! Where did you put the damn scissors!," he yelled from the other room and I sat there for a moment before looking out the window. "On the top shelf in the kitchen!," I yelled back and it was silent for a moment before he walked over and leaned in the doorway with his arms crossed. His eyes had narrowed and I looked over at him and he looked like he was going to slap me for answering his question. "Are you kidding me," he said and I gave a small laugh as I realized that he wasn't able to reach it because he was too short. I placed a hand over my mouth to avoid laughing too loud because I didn't want for him to get mad at me after having such a touching moment a couple minutes ago. He rolled his eyes, "Ha very funny," he said annoyed before turning back to go into the kitchen so he could climb the counter to get to the scissors. I would try to help him usually but he would always push me away so I found no reason to try so he could just get mad at me for trying to be a good person.
"Hey Kyoya," I said as I rose to my feet and looked through the kitchen doorway to see him stripping out of that long jacket so he could rub on the ointment. My eyes wondered for a moment over his thin waist and nice hips but I snapped myself out of it so I could stand in the doorway pleased to see him with the scissors. "I was wondering if you wanted to go out for dinner tonight," I said with a small smile as he looked at me for a moment before going back to treating himself, something that I wished he would let me help with. "We went out last night," he said plainly and I stood there before sighing and decided to try again. "Would you like to join me for dinner tonight?," I asked and he looked up at me for a moment before lightly putting the tube on the counter and cocked his brow at me with a smirk on his face. I blushed but tried to play it cool as he placed a hand on his hip before tilting his head to the side.
"Are you asking me out on a date?," he gave another small laugh as I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out as I stood there completely and utterly embarrassed. Maybe it would be possible for me to make a run for it. I straightened my back before taking a deep breath and decided that it would be best for me to ignore the burning in my face. "Yes. You will accompany me for dinner- I mean if you want! I mean- You get what I mean!," I slowly rose my voice as I tried to correct myself and in that very moment I took back everything I said about getting better at this because I was only getting worse. He slowly looked at the kit before looking back at me and rose his hand so he could brush his bangs out of his eyes before opening his mouth to answer. "You know that you don't have to yell I'm standing five feet away from you. That and sure I will go to dinner, I mean that's what couples are supposed to do right?."
I gave a small smile, "Right."
