Prologue
Witches and humans used to live in harmony, until a devastating fire tipped humanity over the edge.
In a world where witches are vilified and discriminated against, even if they do help society go farther.
Chimera and Lucinda are apprentices under Meridith Allum, the local apothecary owner. Meridith found them when they were no older than 10, after their town burned down. She raised them, along with her one year old daughter Heidi.
Chimera is in town one day when she meets Kayden Sawyer, the son of the cities council members. Specifically the one that wants her kind banned from the city due to a fire that killed Kayden's father

Fire. Black fire was all that could be seen as the town was swallowed, two little girls ran from the burning rubble. One faster than the other.
"We need to go! Run Lucinda!" The faster one called back to the other, her eyes were a glowing white.
The slower had the same face as the first, but her eyes were black like ink. Thick black tears fell down her face, she sobbed as she ran.
"I-I can't, I'm sorry Chimera." She cried, falling to her knees. "Just leave me, I cant run any father."
Chimera pulled on her sister's arm as the black flames illuminated her face, she saw people running towards them, swords, guns, and pitchforks raised.
"There are the witches! Get them!" The crowd called.
With as much strength as she could muster she picked up Lucinda on her back and ran into the thicketed woods.
Chimera ran for what felt like hours, carrying her now asleep mass of a sister. The angry mob was lost behind her but she pressed on.
Her eyes had quit glowing a while back, her normal eye color was a honey brown. Her eyes only glowed when they used magic.
After a bit longer Chimera saw a soft glow in the trees, she was exhausted but used a last burst on energy to run.
The trees curved into a tunnel, a honey colored light on the other side. She stopped in a clearing, dead in the center was a massive tree. In it was a beautiful tree mansion. Soft clangs of multicolored bottles could be heard as streams of light cast through them cutting into the darkness around them. The entire structure seemed to glow with a warm light, symbols etched into the bark and on the ground.
Chimera felt herself start to grow weary, it quickly felt like she was going to pass out. She softly set her sister down and stumbled landing on the hard ground.
The last thing she saw was a woman with gold glowing eyes running towards them, a worried look on her face.
