🌹CHAPTER SIX🌹

The nervousness goes through my veins as I stand in the elevator, waiting until it reaches the 26th floor and start the work day with new boss and new employees. I'm only getting used to the place and then new people and a new boss will be there and I don't know to handle it.

However, I have to. This is just the way it is, I can't change it, all I can do is accept and deal with it. The elevator door opens and people are running around with papers and chatting, almost like school hallways. None of them even look my way as I make my way to my office.

I'm twelve minutes early, which is good timing for me. Normally I would be earlier than that, but there was a lot of traffic after an accident that happened somewhere on one of the roads. As soon as I enter my office, I jump out of shock when I notice Mr. Knight sitting on my office chair.

I try to not act surprised, I don't want my new boss to be mad at me or something. "So far, so good" He only says, when he looks at me. His eyes meet mine, and the eye contact is intense but I don't look away from him. His cold eyes hold no emotion of any kind.

He stands up. I don't understand what he means by his words, then again I don't know a lot about him right now. All the information that I researched seems to have disappeared out of my head at this moment. "Ms. Ace. I want you in my office in exactly five minutes. Don't be late" He tells me and stands up and walks into the office connected to mine.

He doesn't give me time to respond. His voice is so cruel and cold. I shake my head at it and sit down at my office chair. I notice that some of my stuff has been moved, meaning he has been here for quite some time and touched things on my desk.

I find that rather uncomfortable, not only that he was in my office, sitting on my office chair but he was also touching and moving the stuff I have. I feel like he has invaded my privacy. I set my purse down at my desk and get ready, then I go over to the door that connects our two offices.

I knock on the door and wait. "Enter" A cold voice calls out. Suddenly, I miss Mr. Selone even more now than I did before and this man isn't making any of this easy. I open the door and enter his office. When I get inside, it's so different from the last time I was here.

I was expecting it to be empty, like Mr. Selone had left it and perhaps few decorations here and there. The walls have been painted jet black and the window wall have blinds over them. If the light weren't turned on, I wouldn't be able to see anything in here.

No decorations on the walls, and his desk is completely empty. The only thing on it are the two computers and few folders that are neatly. He sits professionally by his desk. "What is it, you need, Mr. Knight?" I ask. I stand by the door, just in case I will have to get something in my own office.

"Sit" He orders me. Referring to one of the seats in front of the desk. Two chairs are lines in front of the desk for clients that he's meeting in his office rather than the meeting room. Mr. Selone had this two. I do as he ordered me to do and sit in one of the chairs.

My heart start to race in my chest, I don't know why. My palms are also getting a bit sweaty, I wipe them at my pants. Once I look up, I'm met with his stare at me, it feels like he's making a hole in my head with his stare and I don't like it, I don't like it when he stares at me like that.

"You will take my calls, answer my email, take notes in meeting, fetch me coffee each morning and whenever I ask, you will do everything I order you to do, without hesitation. Clear?" He asks, he doesn't even move when he speaks to me, his voice is monotone and boring.

I nod my head. "Yes, Mr. Knight" I speak. I make a mental note of the words he had spoken."What kind of coffee would you prefer?" I ask him. When we make eye contact, I quickly break it and look at the ground in stead, suddenly the floor is the most interesting thing that I can look at in this office. The floor and possible the ceiling are the only things that haven't changed in this office.

Even the desk is different and the computers, and just about everything. "Strong and black. I have no further need for you. Leave!" He suddenly booms, his loud voice scares everything in me, and like an idiot, I hurry and leave his office, not wasting any time.

I'm guessing he doesn't like me that much, but then again he doesn't like a lot of people, according to my research. As soon as I'm out of his presence, I remember everything that I had read about him. One thing they did get right was the fact that he is cruel and mean to everyone and doesn't tend to be friendly with anyone.

"GET ME COFFEE!!! NOW!!!" When the doors are closed, I hear is loud voice yell from his office. I don't want to disappoint my new boss on the first day, so I hurry up and walk out of my office into the hallway. Unlike last time, now people are looking at me as I exit my office.

Some whisper amongst themselves, but I'm used to it by now. When I first started working for Mr. Selone, many were talking about me and whispering things about me. Something about being the secretary to the boss is an important job or something. I got used to it and I can do it again.

Those new faces aren't making any of this easier for me. I walk past them and make my way over to the nearest coffee machine that I knew of. And start making the coffee for Mr. Knight. Once the coffee is made, I make my way to his office and knock on it.

I get the same cold respond like before. I open the door and walk inside his office. I'm a bit nervous to go back into his office, he didn't exactly like having me around him the last time, which was only a few minutes ago. I walk over to his desk and set it down. "Your coffee, Mr. Knight" I gently say with a warm smile.

He didn't even look my way as he was too busy working on something on his computer, not even a single glance or a thank you from him. I take that as a cue to leave his office, this time I use the door that connects the office between mine.

Only few seconds after I've sat down by my desk, the phone on it starts to ring. "Mr. Knight's office, Rose speaking" I answer in the phone. It feels weird to not say Mr. Selone's name when I answer the phone, then again I wasn't quite used to saying his name either.

"I would like to speak to Alex" A female voice speaks on the other line. "Yes, please inform me your name" I tell the woman. "Alison, just let me speak to him" She suddenly says, rudely I might add. "Of course, please hold for a minute" I tell her kindly.

"Hurry up" She tells me, this woman is rather rude, but I've been taught how to deal with people like that when speaking on the phone with them. I have to be kind and not be rude back to them. I quickly put the phone on mute and stand up and walk over to Mr. Knight's office.

Knocking on the door, the same respond as last two times comes from him and I open the door. "Mr. Knight, Alison is on the line, would you like to speak to her or should I take a message from her?" I ask him. "Take a message" He says coldly. Again, he doesn't look at me while he speaks.

Nodding my head, I close the door and sit back at my chair. Picking the phone up, I push the mute button again to unmuted it. "Sorry about the wait, Ms. Mr. Knight is busy at the moment. I can take a message to him if you want" I speak to her, I know she's still on the line because I can hear something in the background.

"No, I want to speak to him, now!" She orders. I roll my eyes, this woman is very bossy and mean. "I'm sorry, but Mr. Is unavailable at the moment. I'll take a message if you want or you will have to call again later" I calmly tell her, trying to make sure that she understands.

This woman doesn't say anything else, but she does hang up the phone. I guess she'll be calling later. I set the phone down. For the first time this morning, I open my computer and check on my emails and other or related things. I also see what's Mr. Knight's schedule for today.

He has three meetings today, and one begins in forty minutes. I answer few emails from clients, most of them are wondering if the deals they had with Mr. Selone are still in progress or if they will stop because Mr. Knight has taken over.

Some are even complaining that Mr. Knight won't be as good as Mr. Selone and they want him back, I can't say that I don't agree with them because as far as I can tell, working with Mr. Knight will be the hardest thing I've ever done and will be challenging. But, hey, who doesn't love a good challenge?

I answer all of them professionally. It only took about half an hour. Right in time before Mr. Knight's meetings is about to start. Knowing again at his door, I expect to hear his voice call out and say 'Enter' is a cold tone like all the other time that I've knocked.

This time, however, he opens the door. The action startles me a lot and I jump a bit back. "Ms. Ace, what is it you want?" He asks. He stands on the threshold. I gulp. "Mr. Knight, you have a meeting in eight minutes, shall I accompany you?" I ask, feeling more nervous than I should be.

His presence always makes me nervous and I don't know why. "I will not be needing you" He tells me, however this time he whispers to me. Taking one step closer to me, I take a step back. "All right, I shall continue answering emails while you're in the meeting" I tell him.

I look anywhere but him, not even sure if I can meet his eyes now. Every time he makes eye contact with me, I feel this feeling wash over me and I don't even know what it is or why it happens, but I don't like it. "That won't be needed" He says.

When he speaks, I give him a puzzled look, finally looking up at him. Mr. Knight. He's much closer than I had thoughts. I can see him more clearly now. I never knew that he had a dark blue eyes, when they look down at me, I can see some emotion in them, however I can't put my finger on it.

"Then what should I do, Mr. Knight?" I ask him. Even if his eyes are dark and mysterious and cold, they're really beautiful. The most beautiful blue eyes that I've ever seen in my life. Before I knew what was going on, his lips crash into mine.
