🌹CHAPTER ONE🌹

I shiver as the cold water runs down my back. The jacket I wear is not made for this weather. Mistakes about my outfit have clearly been made. I also didn't bring an umbrella, as I thought it would be sunny like it was this morning when I went out.

I reach my apartment after walking in the rain for about fifteen minutes. My clothes soaking wet with rain water and raven black my hair is leaking. Stripping myself from the wet clothes, I hop into the shower to take a nice warm shower to warm myself up.

Dressing myself in fresh pajamas, I brush my teeth and put my black hair into a braid. Going to the bed, I snuggle under the cover and pull out my favorite book to read before I go to bed. I only manage to read three chapters because my eyelids felt so heavy, so I just have to put the book down and welcome the darkness.

My alarm clock wakes me up on a new rainy day. Fun. Another rainy day is just what I needed. Pulling myself out of bed, I force myself into the bathroom. Wednesday, the day that I don't particularly like, as it's so long until the weekend.

After brushing my teeth, I go into the kitchen to have some breakfast. Just some toast and orange juice, I'm not feeling like having something else right now. Besides, I need to go grocery shopping soon, either today or tomorrow, perhaps tomorrow, I don't feel like going today.

A aching headache is like there's a drum in my head that someone's playing. Taking aspirin to hopefully calm down my headache, I have work and I'd like to be fully focused on it. I'd rather not be fired, since it's only been about a week since I got the job.

As much as I want to, I can't take a sick day after have been working so short period of time. I want to prove myself to the boss that this job means something to me. I had to fight tooth and nail for that job. Not literally, of course, but still. I worked hard for that job and I will not lose it.

Dressing myself into my work outfit and preparing myself for the day. The silver chained necklace that I always have, to give me good luck. The charm is a small silver rose. A gift from my parents on my tenth birthday, I never take it off. Some random earrings to match the outfit and a bracelet.

My phone buzzes on my nightstand. Picking it up and seeing what it is. A new message from Lena. Opening my phone, I check the message. 'Get down here, I'm waiting' It reads. Lena isn't the most patient person in the world, but I have to hurry and get down.

I don't own a car, so she drives me to work every morning. It works in our favor because we work at the same place, just not on the same floor. Taking my purse, phone and keys, I exit my apartment and walk down the stairs. Once I get outside, I notice Lena's red car in front of the entrance door.

Opening the car door, I get in the car. "Hey, girl" She greets me. I smile at her. "Hey" I greet back. I put on the seatbelt and she starts the and drives off to work. "So, how did the date go last night?" She asks me. I was hoping she had forgotten that.

"I don't want to talk about it" I tell her, last night was a mistake. Being single is just better, that's what I've realized after all the countless dates that Lena has sent me on with some of her friends. "Oh, come on. I was so sure that was the one" She says.

I roll my eyes at her, she's always trying to find the right one. The Mr. Right. Since she has one for herself and really wants to go on a double date. "You say that about every one" I tell her, with a hint of sarcasm in my voice. She stops the car in the parking lot.

"Yeah, but-" She begins to say. I cut her off my going out of the car and walking into the building. Harry, the security guard smiles at me when I walk past him. Kindly, I smile back at him. He's been so nice from day one, he's just the type of person that is kind to everyone, unless you're trying to break in or break the law or something, then he becomes someone else.

Someone you don't want to mess with. "Wait up!" Lena calls after me, probably to continue what she was about to say in the car. I walk faster and go into the elevator. The door closes before Lena catches up with me, I smirk to myself. "Avoiding her?" A male voice speaks behind me.

I thought I was alone in the elevator, I guess I didn't see that someone was there. I turn around to look at the man who spoke to me. My jaw nearly falls down to the floor, as I stare at a Greek God. Or he might be a Greek God. He looks the part.

"I...um... I am" I stammer, getting some words out of my mouth, why am I acting like this? This isn't the first guy I've met that's hot. And, where there's a hot guy, there are a lot of jealous ex-girlfriends and he's a player. I've already made those mistakes. The best thing I can do now is turn around, and pretend that I never spoke to that man.

And that's what I'm doing, I turn around and just stare at the steel doors of the elevator. I notice that we're going on the same floor. The top floor, floor number twenty-six. "You new?" I blurt out of my mouth before I could stop myself from speaking.

"Sort of" The man only answers. I don't turn around to look at him. My body is filled with nervousness now, it would have been better if Lena were here. She would know what to do. And by that, I mean she would ask him to take me out on a date.

Now that I think about it, I think that it was better that she wasn't here. It would have ended badly. The elevator dings after what felt like forever and the doors open of the 26th floor. I walk out and go right where my office is. I'm the secretary to Mr. Selone.

He's the guy that owns the building and the business that I work for. He's a man in his sixties, and he's always so kind. In the last week, it has been an honor to work for him. I don't get bored. His wife is also so nice and their relationship is the one that I envy.

They do everything for each other. Every day, Mr. Selone brings her flowers, and every day they fall in love with each other over again. It's a relationship that everyone wants, but only few get. My office is simple, not as simple the offices of other employees.

My office is a large room, three walls are painted in lavender, from the last secretary that was here. One wall is just windows, showing the view of the city. In the middle of the office is a large half moon shaped white desk. On top of it are two computers and some paper files that I have around.

There is also a couch in one corner that I don't really use but it was there when I came into the office and I don't really want to move it. This office is rather dull and the more decoration there are, the less dull it becomes. Mr. Selone said I could do whatever I wanted with the office, but I haven't found anything that I want to do with it.

There are two doors on my office, one that leads to the hallway and out of the building. The other to Mr. Selone's office. His office is much more grand and elegant and just pretty. He has things to decorate and make it look pretty, yet it still looks professional.

I check the time and it's half past seven in the morning, just good time. My work starts at quarter to eight, but I find it comfortable to be here a little early, just so I don't have to stress with time and stuff like that. Sitting down at the chair by the desk, i open the computers with my password.

I email Mr. Selone's schedule for today to him, like I always do every morning, I also sometimes need to remind him when he has meeting. He often forgets things like that, but I don't mind reminding him every now and then of things like that. It is my job after all, well part of my job.

His first meeting starts at eight, and is with Mr. Knight. I walk over to the door that links my office to Mr. Selone's office and softly knock on it. "Come in, Ms. Ace" Mr. Selone's voice speaks from on the other side of the door. This door isn't thick for the purpose of being able to hear what is happening on the other side.

If he calls to me, then I would be able to hear it. He is a bit slow on the technology stuff that is all around us. I walk into his office. "Good morning, Mr. Selone" I greet him with happiness in my voice. He sits on his desk, a kind smile on his face. "Good morning, Ms. Ace" He greets me back.

"You have a meeting after ten minutes with Mr. Knight. Shall I accompany you?" I ask, just to be sure that he wants me in there taking notes. Sometimes his meetings are private and he doesn't want anyone in there with him, except for client.

"Yes, I believe that's for the best. This might be the most important meeting yet" He tells me. Important meetings happen all the time, but he's acting strange with this meeting. I was about to speak something when a knock on his official door is heard.

"Come in" He speaks. The door opens, revealing Selena. She's the one who shows clients to the meeting room and makes sure that they get coffee or anything to drink. "Mr. Knight is seated in the meeting room" She speaks. Selena only keeps her job because she keeps the clients happy when they wait, perhaps too happy.

Mr. Selone stands up. "Best not to keep him waiting" He tells me. "Come, Ms. Ace" He says. I quickly go into my office to get my notepad and a pen. I then join Mr. Selone to the meeting room. "Should I get your coffee, Mr. Selone?" I ask before we enter the meeting room.

I know he likes his coffee and he always has at least one or two cups in every meeting, depends on how long they are. Business meetings can take a few hours, sometimes there are breaks. "Yes, that would be delighted, thank you" He says. He enters the meeting room, while I go to the coffee machine that is nearby.

Few coffee machines are around the floor. I take a paper cup and put it under the coffee machine and push the coffee button. The coffee pours into the cup and soon it's almost full, then it stops. I add one sugar cube and then put the lid on the cup.

Making my way to the meeting room with my notepad and the paper cup in my hands, I enter the room. "Mr. Knight. This is my secretary, Ms. Ace. She will be joining us today" Mr. Selone speaks to the other man in the room. I give Mr. Selone his coffee cup and sit down to his right. The other man sits on the other side of the room. I look up to see who it is and I freeze. It's the Greek God that I met before.
