Part 7
Rosaline slowly opened her eyes as the morning sun shone through the window almost directly aimed at her face. She let out a groan as she rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up. She looked around the room; dazed and confused as the smell of fresh coffee teased at her nose. The smell of the coffee motivated her to move more quickly. She rushed over to the restroom first to properly wash up and change into something more suitable than her sleeping clothes. She took a deep breath as she prepared herself for what she was about to do. She grabbed her small dark brown satchel and filled it with biscuits, a waterskin canteen that she had filled with water for her journey. Last, but not least, she grabbed the basket of fresh strawberries that he had picked to give to the prince as a courtesy gift.
She took one more sip of coffee before heading out the front door. She had a long journey ahead of her, but she was determined to clear up any misunderstanding that she may have with the royal family. "It was a mistake, they sent me the letter by mistake" she kept mumbling to herself over and over again, although she still had no explanation of her name being written on the invitation. She scratched her head in confusion before feeling a light tap on her shoulder. "What are you mumbling about?" A soft but semi-deep voice said as Rosaline turned around to face her friend, Timothy Smith. Timothy came from a family of locksmiths and was currently working as one himself. He was Rosaline's next door neighbor growing up and her dearest friend. "Tim! Have you been following me this whole time!?" Rosaline said in a loud tone. "Well, hello to you too, my friend!" Tim said while giving her a cheeky smirk. Timothy's eyed wondered to Rosaline's satchel as he furrowed his brows in confusion. "Um...Rose, are you going somewhere? Oh no, are you finally leaving me, like you said you would! I swear I'll stop teasing, please stay, you're my closest friend!" Rosaline squinted her eyes at Timothy and let out a big sigh before replying "Calm down Tim, that was only a joke! I'm traveling to the royal palace because they have sent me a letter by mistake, now good day!" Rosaline rolled her eyes and began walking away until Timothy grabbed her arm.
"Wait, I'll go with you! Mr. Finton allows me to borrow his horses from time to time so I can take you on your journey! It beats walking on foot right?" Timothy asked with a devious grin on his face. Rosaline thought to herself for a moment before finally answering "Fine, you can take me on my journey, I suppose it will be less tiring then how I originally planned to get there." Timothy's eyes widened as he flashed Rosaline a wide grin. "Perfect! On the way there, tell me everything! This is so exciting!" Timothy exclaimed. Rosaline gave him a small nod and followed him to Mr. Finton's stables to choose a horse for their journey. Timothy and Rosaline were very different, he enjoyed when something interesting or dramatic happened and loved to hear about scandals and she liked to keep to herself and avoid the spotlight. Although these two had their differences, they somehow managed to become very close friends.
