Part 4
Rosaline finally arrived home after a long day of work. She was ready to finally get some rest when she realized that there was a bowl of porridge on the table. Her mother must have left it out for her so she could have a late supper. She pulled out a chair and sat at the wooden table as she ate the mildly warm porridge. It felt so nice to have a filling meal after having such a long day. After she finished her meal, she cleaned her dishes, washed up and headed off to bed. Once her head hit the pillow she quickly fell asleep after only a few minutes. It felt so nice to get some proper rest before having to do it all over again the next day.
Hours passed by as Rosaline laid in her bed until she suddenly felt a dry sensation in her throat. She slowly lifted herself from her bed as she walked to the kitchen and grabbed a small metal cup to fill with water. She looked down at the bucket on the floor that she used to collect well water from only to see that it was empty. She let out a big sigh and threw on her coat as she grabbed the empty water bucket and headed out the door towards the water well. The well was a little down the road so she slipped on her shoes and began walking down the road. The cold night air poked through her coat as she walked through the darkness with only a small lantern in her hand as her only source of light. As she walked down the street, she began to feel like there was an unknown presence behind her.
Rosaline started to feel uneasy, with every step she took she could feel a type of warmth of another person trailing closely behind her. She stopped in the middle of the road as he body froze with confusing and fear. As she let out a deep sigh, she nearly turned around to face whoever was following her, but she quickly changed her mind and started walking faster towards the well. As her footsteps increased in speed, she could hear whoever was behind walking faster as well! She started to run, using all her strength to get far away from someone who could be a potential threat! She quickly changed direction as she turned into a dark alleyway and suddenly the mysterious footsteps that were behind her suddenly stopped...
Author's Note:
Rosaline was just trying to relax and rehydrate when disaster struck! Who do you think was following her? Was Rosaline wrong to assume that it was someone dangerous? Personally, I would be afraid if someone was following in the middle of the night, especially in the dark! Who knows? Maybe that person ran out of water too! Let me know what kind of danger or potential new friendship Rosaline may have to deal with in the future in the comment section! I will do my best to keep up with the updates and I would just like to thank you all for reading my story! I hope you're enjoying it so far! :)
