Part 1: Prologue - The Moon Festival

Somewhere far away where no one would ever be able to find it is the planet Halfmoon. Halfmoon is the home of the Lumas, the legendary spirits who watch over the Galaxy.

As darkness began to fall on the Luma planet halfmoon, two Lumas floated towards the main square of Luma City.

When night comes on Halfmoon, star bits fall from the sky. The two Lumas waited patiently for this moment to come, as that was the reason they were outside so late in the first place.

Today was the day of the Moon Festival, which was a celebration held on the day Rosalina was supposed to have met her first Luma.

Or that was what everyone thought.

In fact, very little was known about Rosalina. Rosalina hadn't ever visited the planet Halfmoon, and she met her first Luma a very long time ago. All the Lumas had left were long-lost stories and the Moon Festival.

The Moon Festival happens once every 100 years. During the festival, shooting stars will light up the sky and the statue of Rosalina in the main square of Luma City will glow in all the colors of the rainbow.

The two Lumas floated off to join the other Lumas. The first was tiny blue Luma named Hoshi. The second was a slightly bigger, red Luma, with eyes that slightly glowed. This Luma was known as Star.

As they got closer to the statue of Rosalina, they passed more people waiting for the Moon Festival to begin. All the Lumas on Halfmoon had gathered to watch this legendary event.

"Hoshi! Star! Would you like some Star bits?" A nearby Luma asked.

"Sure!" Hoshi replied, handing the Luma some Star coins.

As they ate their star bits, they continued to float towards the statue of Rosalina. This festival was the biggest event to the Lumas, and they'd been preparing for it for many years. No one wanted to miss it!

As the two Lumas finally reached the statue of Rosalina, they found themselves at the back of a huge crowd of Lumas, even though they'd come three hours early.

"We should have come earlier. I can't see anything!" Hoshi said sadly.

Then a yellow star bit fell out of the sky and twirled to the ground. More soon followed. Night had finally come.

"It's almost time! Keep watching the statue!" Star said excitedly.

"We still have three hours until the festival begins, remember?" Hoshi said.

The next three hours went by very slowly, as the two Lumas were very excited. But soon, the time for the festival came.

"Only 2 more minutes!" Star said to Hoshi, who had fallen asleep.

Hoshi woke up immediately and looked around.

"Huh? Why didn't you wake me up earlier? I could have missed it!" Hoshi said.

Then, a Luma floated in front of the statue of Rosalina, and began to talk.

"Welcome, Lumas, to the Moon Festival, when we celebrate the day Rosalina, the Princess of the Universe, met her very first Luma! And now, it is time!" The Luma said.

The Lumas then began a countdown. There was only one minute left!

30 seconds left...

"What do you think will happen?" Star asked Hoshi.

"I'm not sure. All the Lumas seem to remember different things. But I guess we'll find out soon!" Hoshi said.

10 more seconds...

All the Lumas were now looking at the statue, making sure they wouldn't miss anything.

The festival had begun.

As the Lumas had said, the festival was amazing. Shooting stars flew across the midnight sky. The rainbow colors lit up the sky, and the stars sparkled a lot more brightly than they usually did. The starlight reflected on the statue, and made it sparkle just like the sky.

The festival lasted for a whole hour, and ended with the moon appearing, like it always did.

"Wow! That was amazing!" Hoshi said.

Then, the two Lumas were pushed aside by the huge crowds who were now leaving.

"I guess we should leave too," Star said.

"Yes," Hoshi said, turning around.

But then, a glistening white light shone down on the two Lumas. As they turned around, they found out it was coming from a moonbeam which had reflected off Rosalina's wand.

"What's going on? Has the festival not ended yet?" Star asked.

But no one answered. All the other Lumas had already left, and Star and Hoshi were the only ones left.

Then, the light above them suddenly stopped.

"Huh. That was weird," Hoshi said.

But as the two Lumas looked around, they noticed they were no longer standing by the statue. Instead, they seemed to be in a small, dark room filled with books.

"Where are we?" Star wondered.

But Hoshi wasn't listening. He had found a huge and dusty old book that was lying in the middle of the floor.

"What's that?" Star asked.

"I don't know," Hoshi said, wiping the dust of the front of the book.

The Lumas then read the title.

"Rosalina's storybook?" Star said, amazed.

"Do you think we really found it?" Hoshi asked excitedly.

"I doubt it. But we should read it anyway," Star said.

Rosalina apparently had a book where she wrote about her adventures. The Lumas had been looking for it for a long time, but had never been able to find it.

"Ok!" Hoshi said.

He then opened the book, and began to read.

So, this is the beginning of my new Mario story! I hope you enjoyed it so far!

Anyway, I've decided to write this story in two parts. Part 1 will be my version of Rosalina's storybook, and part 2 will take place after the events of the Galaxy games. This book won't be like my other Mario stories (I haven't even decided whether to include Mario or not!) as the main character will be Rosalina and it will take place in the Galaxy universe.

As you can see, I've decided to name the Lumas. Also, Halfmoon is not the planet from Kirby Super Star. I just couldn't think of a better name for it 😁.

That's all for now and I'll try to post the next chapter soon.
