Ghost pt.1
Kate was not a morning person. In fact she wasn't really a day person at all.
"Yelena, are you going to tell me what we're doing on the roof at 5 in the morning." Kate groaned, throwing herself back, feet dangling off the roof.
"If we want to find a ghost we've got to be a ghost, catch." Yelena threw Kate a pair of purple shades while Yelena slipped on her tactical mask.
Kate caught the glasses with ease and quickly slipped them on letting out a small 'woah'
"These are my only pair of comms so don't break them or I will break you."
Kate laughed at the blonde but her laugh soon faded into a nervous chuckle, she could never really tell if Yelena was joking or not.
"So what's the plan, black widow?"
"Don't call me that." Yelena snapped, slipping on her vest.
"Well I was just thinking if we're calling us Young Avengers we kind of need codenames right? I'm the Hawkeye and your..the widow."
Kate ranted, checking over her arrows one last time slipping them into the right places of her quivers so she doesn't accidentally blow anyone up.
"I am not my sister, just like you are not Barton." Yelena said coldly, slipping on her gloves.
"Are you sure about that? Sure yeah we are very different, plus I am a better shot then Clint but look at us, we are them whether you like to admit it or not."
Yelena scoffed, loading up her widow bites, "Yeah and how is that Kate Bishop?"
"You have the iconic widow bites don't you? You wear her symbol, and just like her you wanted out."
Kate said, pointing at the widow's belt before sliding on her quiver and putting her bow over her chest.
"Just because you took his name and the bow does not mean you're an avenger. The word means nothing anymore, I'm simply doing this so I actually can get a job again. I only need you for your house and dog Kate Bishop, don't forget that."
With that she jumped. The breath left in Kate hitched as she watched her leap across the building to the next.
"Okay Kate...you got this..just..jump." She muttered to herself, climbing roofs is one thing, leaping is a whole different thing. She tried once when she was 14, it did not go very well. She ended up breaking a rib.
She needed just the right speed or else she would cut short and if she screwed up her footing just one bit. With a breath she took off feet pushing, now she just needed to-
"Are you coming Kate Bishop? Please... now you want to think? Just jump!"
Kate really hated Yelena, her footing instantly slipped and instead of jumping off she tripped and was falling, the gap wasn't too large so she had just enough time to reach her hand out and grab the ledge. She let out a grunt as her stomach collided with the building.
She quickly pulled herself up rolling on the building and letting out a groan.
"Kate Bishop I know you are tired but come on."
Kate threw up her hand, her middle finger pointing right in Yelena's face who merely just chuckled, taking Kate's hand and helping her up.
"Look, don't think about it, only think about the gap before you jump, that way you know it's possible, then you just run, when you're just about the edge you lift off."
Kate gulped looking at how high up they were.
"You'll be fine I will catch you, now try."
Kate slowly nodded, backing up slowly, okay, just don't think. You're good at that Kate.
With one last breath she took off eyes tightly shut.
I can do this I can do this I can do this I can-
"Holy sh-"
Kate felt herself leap and she watched in slow motion at the city down below, it felt like she was flying, that was soon cut short as she fell on top of the building going into a tuck and roll.
Yelena landed next to her, a grin plastered on her face.
"That was...so cool!" Kate threw her hands up pumping her fist in victory.
"Ah yes so cool, I am so proud, we have to keep moving if we ever want to catch a sticky boy or whatever you call him."
Kate snorted, "Spider-man." She corrected.
"Bah, if he was a man he wouldn't be posing so stupid."
Kate gasped, "His signature web hand movement is the best, it is not stupid."
"You are such a fangirl!"
Kate scoffed playfully, shoving Yelena, "Whatever you're just jealous."
"Of what? Your stupid comic collection, your knowledge on how every avenger wipes? I think I will pass."
Kate can feel the heat rise to her cheeks, " I do not know how the avenger wipes!"
Yelena only raises an eyebrow at the archer before shrugging, "Whatever you say." Then she jumps over to the next building.
"I don't! I swear! I'm not that big of a creep! Okay sure maybe I know that the hulk sleeps with a teddy bear but I swear that's it!"

14 hours.
They've been at this for 14 hours.
No Spider-Man.
No food.
"Maybe we should just stop for food Yel, i'm starving." Kate pouted, leaning against the water tower looking out over the city.
"You're always starving." Yelena rolled her eyes, gaze still focused on the city below.
"There has been no crime! Ugh, I'm so bored." Kate groaned, she never was one for stakeout missions too long without food.
"No, there was that stolen bike." Yelena argued.
"I bet Clint never had to do this." She muttered, throwing a rock from the roof.
"Would you stop? I'm trying to do big girl work so if you're down pouting grab a pair of binoculars and help."
Kate simply stuck her tongue out at the blonde but obeyed and grabbed the binoculars.
"All I see is cars."
"You just put them on-сука!" Yelena leaped up from her position on the roof tackling Kate down to the ground.
Kate looked at the assassin with a questionable look but understood as she heard gunshots. Yelena tried to make her body big enough to protect the archer from the shots and Kate curled into her body, her head hiding into the chest of the assassin.
Kate could feel the breath of the assassin make its way down her neck and could hear the pounding of Yelena's heart, which soothed her but the gunshot were louder and she couldn't take the noise she quickly clamped her hands over her ears.
Her eyes flied open as she felt a fast wind fly past the two of them.
"Shit." Kate muttered, pushing Yelena off her and to the left barely dodging a bullet.
"Kate roll!" Yelena screamed a bullet barely missing them.
"I thought you threw them off your scent!" Kate yelled over the gun fire quickly reaching for her bow.
"Most of them! You think I could throw off thousands of people!? God Kate Bishop."
Yelena quickly aimed her gun over the roof shooting at the attackers that were over at the other building.
"Do not sass me! I am trying to save your ass!" Kate released an arrow indenting into one the figures shoulder.
"You? Save my ass? You are very funny Kate Bishop but now is not the time for Hilarious jokes!"
Kate scoffed another arrow releasing and making its way to the group on the rooftop.
"Who even are they?!"
Yelena sprayed another string of Russian curses and let more bullets fly from her gun.
"I don't know Kate Bishop, I do not know every single assassin in town! It's not like we're all friendly neighbors!"
Kate rolled her eyes but continued trying her best to dodge bullets while shooting arrows at the attackers. Man she really wished she had trick arrows right now. Clint insisted she wouldn't need them, something about 'I don't trust you' 'you'll blow something up blah blah.'
Pain erupted in Kate's right cheek causing her to stumble backwards gloved hand quickly reaching her cheek.
She looked down at her bloody hand letting out a 'oh shit'
"We need to get out of here." Yelena said, grabbing the archer by the hand bringing her down to the ground.
Kate was quick to argue with her.
"But info..if we could just-"
"No. Absolutely not! Use your head Kate Bishop, I know there is something in that big head of yours, we are outnumbered, you are clearly injured, being a leader means making the hard calls. This is one of them."
Kate knew that Yelena was right but then there was that stupid feeling her gut that told her to stay jsut for a little longer. As much as she respects Yelena's badass, she hasn't known her for that long, but that thing in her gut? That's been with her for all her life. It's the thing that told her to pick the bow up. That's why she's hawkeye.
"You want to leave Yelena you can. I'm staying, and honestly I don't care if it kills me. This is a perfect opportunity for Spider-man to show up, and that is a risk I am willing to take."
Yelena was pissed. There was no denying it. If Kate didn't die at the hands of her attackers then she certainly would at the hands of Yelena.
"I swear you're going to be the death of me, if I get shot it is your fault. Stupid..stupid."
Kate smirked as the assassin continued to curse her out. "5 more minutes, that's it then we run like hell, I promise."
"I will hold your word to it."
Eventually the gunshots started to die out, half of the dozen assassin's guns were running out, and that would excite Kate if she weren't out of arrows.
Kate still feels slight blood trickle down her cheek from the grazed bullet and the addrenline that used to be flowing through her was slowly almost dying. She looked over to her partner who was trying to kick off the attackers that had decided to take the stairs of their building up to the roof where they were.
"Kate.."
"I know, I know time to g-" She was quickly cut off as a foot collided to her chest making her fly backwards a lot further than she would've expected. She landed on her side with a crunch echoing as she smashed into the ground.
"Ouch..ouch.." Kate hissed trying to reach for her bow that had been carelessly thrown to the side but was quickly stopped as she was lifted into the air a hand wrapping its way around her neck.
"He..y I'm..sure we can-wor..k this ou..t." She wheezed out the grip tightening. Kate tried to fight the man kicking endlessly at him trying to wiggle her way somehow out of his iron grip but it was useless. The man made his way to the edge of the roof. Kate's throat was still in his grip and let her dangle like he was taunting her.
Kate let out a strangled sob the pressure to her throat tightened, black fuzzy dots started to fade into her vision and she started hearing a stupid buzzing in her ears.
Soon the grip relaxed and even though Kate might be freefalling off a side of the building she felt relief that she no longer had the man's hand on her neck. The relief soon turned into fear as she realized that she was falling. She saw Yelena run over to the edge of the building, a hand reaching out for her. Kate's hand reached out wishing that she would have listened to Yelena and not do something idiotic.
The ground was close and Kate knew it, so she simply let out a breath of relief, her eyes tight shut.
This was definitely not a cool way to die.
