Paul's POV

It's been three months of therapy and I still haven't gotten any better. Today's Dawn's birthday and she's turning 18. I plan on asking her to marry me tonight if I live through this. The school year is almost halfway over and the band and I are still performing everyday after school. Today I'm hosting mini birthday party for Dawn at the concert after school today.

Dawn's POV

The school day zoomed by. These past three months have too. It feels like the time has sped up just because it wants to shorten Paul's time with me. No! I can't think like that! Paul's going I make it and there is no other thing I will accept! He has to live! I walked out of the school to go up on the roof. I sighed as I looked up the ladder. Life would seem pointless without him. Wouldn't it?

No! Snap out of it, Dawn! You can't let that get to you! He wouldn't want anything to happen to you because of him anyway! Why does the world have to hate me so much? Why? Just why! I can't take this anymore!

"Dawn!" I looked up to see Ash looking down at me. "The show's about to begin!" I nodded. "Okay! I'm coming up!" I breathed in and walked up the ladder. "How's everyone doing today!" I pretty much yelled into the microphone. The cheers from the crowd made me feel a little better. Like Paul said, it was as if I was meant for the stage.

Paul came up behind me and began singing. And I joined in.

After the song, I was feeling a lot better seeing as how the song was a lively one. Before I knew it, Paul had started the next song with May and Drew singing.

I clapped along with the audience. I never knew that May could sing like that! I smiled before introducing the next song. "Our next song is going to be sung by May and Drew and their song is going to be Love Story seeing as how that pretty much explains how they met and what they will be hoping to happen in the future." "Dawn!" May and Drew were both looking at me embarrassed because the song had a mention of marriage in it.

The cheers of the audience showed how much they agreed that the song applied to their relationship. I was giggling and could barely keep in my giggles for the introduction of the next song. "I will be singing this song and it actually describes me. If any of you out there know it, please feel free to sing along!" I nodded at Paul and he started the song.

I finished the song with a smiled and a loving gaze directed at Paul. I was so happy and was hoping this moment would never ever end. I giggled before starting the last song. By now everyone knew it and was always going to sing along with us. Ash and Gary immediately launched into the last song.

Before everyone started leaving, Paul called them to a stop. I turned around looking puzzled. "Today is my little baby's birthday! Can we please give her some love?" He then nodded at the guys and began singing a song. A song I thought I would never hear ever again.

Afterwards I was in tears. I loved him so much. I didn't want him to leave. I know it sounds selfish but the only one that ever made me actually laugh, like really laugh these past three months was him and only him. I always had to pretend around others. I don't want to lose him. I really didn't. I would do anything to have him stay by my side forever and ever.

Everyone cheered at the last song and they started leaving. I sighed and walked back behind all the equipment. Paul came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. I yelped and turned around ready to slap someone. Seeing it was Paul, my hand stopped an inch from his cheek. "Woah there baby. No need to be so violent." I flushed and his my face in his shoulder. He smirked at me and hugged me. "That was a wonderful job out there. Like I said before, you were meant for the stage. You just need to remember that even if I do have to leave."

This time I really did slap him. "Don't say stuff like that! You know you're not going to die! I won't let you! You know I would do anything to have you live! I don't care what anybody says, I can't let you die so you won't!" This was when our friends walked in. They hadn't heard of Paul's situation because he didn't want to worry them.

"What's going on?" Drew was looking back and forth between us and was as puzzled as the rest of our friends. Paul pulled my arm. "Don't tell them. Please." I shook my head. " I don't want them to keep worrying. You know this will hurt them more if they find out on their own!" Paul dropped his arm and nodded, turning his head away from me.

I turned to our friends and opened my mouth. "The truth is...Paul has stage four kidney cancer and he has an estimated 9 more months to live." I turned and buried my head in Paul's shoulder. Paul wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close.

I looked at Misty and Ash and their jaws were literally on the ground. Leaf was getting teary eyed and Gary was laughing softly like he was believing what we were saying. May was pretty much crying and Drew...Drew was the worst. He was laughing harder than Gary. He wasn't believing what we were saying. "What are you two laughing at?" My voice was cracking and that silenced the two boys.

"Wait. You're not kidding?" Drew looked at me in disbelief. I shook my head. Drew fell backwards and May caught him. Gary looked at me like I was crazy. "No." He kept shaking his head. "That. That's not true."

Suddenly, Paul's grasp on me loosened and I turned around to see him falling. I quickly ran forward and caught him before his head hit the ground. I looked at Paul to see him breathing hard and I quickly told Drew to call the ambulance.

You can't leave me Paul. You just can't. So please. Hang in there.
