"I'd hate to step of yo-" The crackle of the radio was a clear and definite. Peggy knew what it meant, but despite the evidence and the 100% garentee that Steve was gone, she called out his name in desperation, hoping that the man whom she had loved, would answer. But he didn't. Nothing, just static and an eerie silence. Not long after, thick tear streamed down her face when the reality of this was in play. He was gone, and he wasn't ever going to come back.

Finding the Hydra ship that the great Steve Rogers saved millions of lives with was one of the biggest achievements Nick Fury had ever done. It arose a miltitude of people and the work to find the remains of the Captain were revelutionary. He had gone down there just to see it. Normally on a Monday morning he would be briefing the 2nd in commands with mission agendas, but today, he was going to see one of the most remembered events in American history. Agent Hill covered for him that day, and he was more than pleased.
When he had gotten down there, his excitement was not met with disappointment. A part of the plane stuck out of the ice like a sword, and he could see the constrution workers and their michines. Earlier that morning there was a brutal storm, but he had been lucky enough to come later and it was still with a slight winter breeze. The workers were all over the place, and one had come up to him and said,
"You here to see the Captain Sir?"
"Yes, where are the remains? We need to get them on base as soon as possible, we don't need people coming and trying to take him." Nick said, throwing on a jacket as he made his way down the camp with the worker.
"Oh sir, you haven't heard, have you?" The man said, with an almost excited and frightened look in his eye.
"Heard what?!" Nick asked, erratated that there was information that he didn't know.
"There are no parts sir," the man said,
Nick scoffed, "What do you mean there are no parts, he's been sitting in ice for 60 years! There has to be something!"
"No sir, that's not what I meant, the Captain sir...," the man said, almost begging to get punched in the face."
"What!? What happened to Steve Rogers?!" Nick almost screamed at this point.
"Sir, Steve Rogers is alive."
..........................................
Nothing felt right. His head felt like where his legs should be. Every bone in his body felt like it had broken, and then forced back together again, over and over again. Steve didn't like it. But with every little streanth he had, he opened his eyes. He tried to remember what had happened, where he was, what was going on. On the radio played a song that he new well, his mother used to play it when she cooked. Then like a bomb blew up in his brain, the events of the past raced back into his mind and he new right away what had just happened.
Steve sat up in the bed, unsure of what to do, questions raced through his head, where was he, where did the plane land, is Peggy okay, did his team make it?! As all these things began to rumble in his head, the door to the bed room opened. A pretty young girl, about the age of 15 walked in. Her hair was pulled back into a tie and she was dressed in a SSR uniform, her clip board close to her hip. She didn't seem to notice him sitting up, for her head was in deep though while looking at the clip board. When she finally did look up, she let out a little yelp at the sight of the man she had been surveying for the past 3 weeks up and sitting.
"Where am I?" Steve asked, at this point, he didn't care if she was 15 or 10, if he made to, he would do anything to get Peggy and his team and make sure they were okay.
The girl regained her composure and stood with a high head and said, "You are in an SSR recovery center, we found your plane and brought you back here." She said, not missing up a word. This didn't seem right, the majority of women in recovery centers did not age up to 15, they were at least 20 or 25, and this girl, she was in uniform. Recovery centers, where ever they are, should not have a girl this young and in uniform checking up on him.
"I'm going to ask you again, where am I?" This time, he stood, making sure she knew he was not to be messed with. She almost immediately shrunk.
"Just wait here sir," she said almost sprinting out of the room. Nope. He followed her right through, and on the other side of that door, were two armed men, ready to shoot. Steve pushed them aside like puzzle pieces and ran. He didn't know where he was going, he just knew that these people were the enemy. He ran, bursting through doors and windows, until finally he reached the outside, except when he looked out, he first thing he saw, was water. Then from there he looked out and saw the Staute of Liberty. But the buildings that surrounded this great monument were not small, they were giant. Huge buildings, and the people on, what he could only assume was a boat, were soon surrounding him.
"At ease soldier!!" A man that stood out from the rest said. He was dark man, with an eye patch covering his left eye, pistol right there waiting to be used.
"Where am I!?" Steve said, both confused and exhausted.
"You are on a boat next to the Statue of Liberty, as you can seen, I need you to calm down." Nick said, noting the soldier, despite the command, was not at ease. "You've been gone along time Cap. And I really don't know how to break this to you but," the man said, almost implying that Steve should know.
"Break what?!" Steve said, getting angrier by the second.
"You've been asleep Cap, for almost 70 years." He said, not jokingly. He was dead serious.
Steve inhaled, then exhaled. His legs failed to keep his upright, and he was soon falling. After that, he was gone.
