Bonus; Chapter Fifty Two: Spider Boy

Steve's POV

It all started on a mission as most unusual things do. Tony and I were trying to apprehended a pair of thieves when out of the blue Tony comes crashing to the ground. He was covered in a white sticky substance resembling a web. Despite myself I had the urge to laugh but Tony cut me off with an angry growl. I glanced at the sky trying to slot what had taken down the ever invincible Iron Man.

"Can you stop gawking and help me?" Tony asked exasperatedly. With a smirk I grabbed a fist full of the strange material and pulled hard. There was a wet tearing sound and Tony came free. He got back to his feet did a once over of his armor and took off again. "Scan surrounding area for a second possible threat."

I sighed turning on my heel and running down the side street yet again. Up ahead I saw the boot belonging to one of the thieves disappear behind a corner. I skidded around it seconds later in hot pursuit. One of the criminals glanced back over his shoulder and raised his arm. A fun was fitted snugly in his palm. I heard the crack of the gun and deflected the bullet with my shield. "Any news on what that stuff was?"

"Yeah, some kind of engineered synthetic web. The tensile strength is off the charts!" I glanced up to see a streak of red and gold rocket across the sky. "Cap you're gonna want to take a left."

"Copy that." I swung a wide arch around the corner and came up short at a dead end. "Tony."

"Sorry I was facing you. My left is your right." I rolled my eyes despite the fact that he couldn't see me. Hurtling a trash can I was disappointed in the fact that I had lost all visual on the criminals.

"Are you tracking them?" I asked pausing to figure out which way to go next.

"Well I was..." Tony started.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked worriedly. Things didn't always work out when it had to do with Tony.

"It says they're in the next alley over to your right but they aren't moving." Tony stated with a hint of curiosity to his voice. Raising my shield I turned another sharp corner expecting harsh gun fire but nothing met my shield. I lowered it cautiously and glanced about. There wasn't a single item out of place. Not a single trash can was knocked over, there weren't and scuff marks, and there certainly wasn't blood, and most strangely there were no people. I had the urge to look up and what I saw caused my heart to skip a beat. Above my head were the two criminals bound together by the same stuff that had brought Tony crashing to the ground. There mouths were covered as well but even more curiously was the person wearing a red and blue suit.

"Who are you?" I asked observing the person who was crawling down the wall, a black slider design on his red and blue suit.

"Spiderman!" The person yelled but their voice rose in pitch halfway through the word. Whoever it was they were young. "Uh-hum...I mean...Spiderman! Hey my voice didn't crack!"

"Yeah, that didn't answer my question. Who are you and why did you apprehend two criminals and shoot my friend down with your...things?" I asked lowering my shield farther and trying to seem less formidable.

"Dude, they aren't things, they're webs!" The young boy dropped down next to me with a nonchalant air about him. "Besides I spotted them first and your friend was gonna get here before me."

"So you're the idiot that fired at me?" Tony remarked lowering down into the alley as well.

"If I was an idiot do you think I could have designed such cool equipment?" This kid was definitely sarcastic.

"Touché." Tony's mask slipped back exposing his face. His eyebrows were knit closely together meaning he was thinking. "So what are you exactly? A vigilante?"

"No. Don't you watch the news? I'm the new hero everyone's talking about!" The boys head swiveled from me to Tony and then back to me. "You know the guy hat saved the old lady by pulling her off the train tracks? I caught a kid who fell over the edge of the third floor of a hotel? I stopped the fearsome threesome gang last week? Oh! What about the guy who saved ten dogs from an exploding animal shelter?"

"Nope. What about you Steve? Ever heard of him?" I shrugged I didn't pay much attention to the news lately. "Not that your work isn't impressive. Say, how old are you?"

"Seventeen."

"You want to do this whole hero thing right?"

"Yeah."

"You're going to need some help. Tell you what give this card a call and I'll see what I can do for you." Tony stated handing a Shield recruit card to the kid in the strange suit.

"Thanks Mr. Stark! Anyways gotta go! My Spidey senses are tingling!" With that the kid fired a strand of web and went swinging out of the alley. I glanced at Tony completely dumbfounded. He shrugged dialed a number and stated the cops were on their way to pick the two criminals up. With nothing else to do Tony provided me a lift back to the tower.

"So how was the mission?" Scarrlet asked as we tromped back into the tower.

"One word. Wierd." I stated still trying to comprehend everything that happened. Scar laughed as if she knew something but I didn't press. With a shrug I headed towards Fury's office to give a report of the mission. Upon entering I might as well have been smacked in the head by a brick. There in front of me stood a young teenage boy in the same spider suit as before.

"Hey Cap!" He waved before slipping his mask off to reveal a young face with a mop of brown hair. He stuck out his hand Andi shook it out of obligation while shooting Fury a look that demanded him to explain.

"Well it seems you two have already met." Fury stated snuggly leaning back in his chair. Tony knocked on the door frame before entering and I watched his expression morph to confusion, probably the same look I had worn.

"What the-" Fury raised a patient hand cutting Tony off before he could say anything else.

"Meet your New teammate Mr. Stark." Fury nodded a mischievous glisten in his eye.

"Hey! The names Peter Parker." The not stuck out his hand for Tony this time but Tony ignored it.

"I told you to call not come to the tower!" He said frustrated and slapping a hand to his face. An awkward silence filled the room and if there was anything I didn't like it was awkward silence. I scratched the back of my head trying to think up something to say.

"So....uh, where are you from exactly?" I asked mentally kicking myself at the lameness of the question.

"Queens." He stated with a shrug. I smiled lightly.

"Brooklyn."

"Okay go take your bromance somewhere else. Apparently I have to find this kid a place to stay and- ugh! There's so much work!" Tony whined glaring lightly at Peter. "Does he have to stay? Like stay forever?"

"No see, Peter here still has to graduate Highschool. His Aunt is moving to the city next week with the help of a few agents. I took the liberty of telling her he was now your new intern Stark." Fury folded his fingers together in a tight net observing Tony's reaction. "You may not like him yet Tony but I think you will. He's designed the web shooters on his suit and the web itself all off of equipment from a dumpster."

This silenced Tony and he gave Peter a curious look. I cringed praying silently that this Parker kid wouldn't get stu k in one of Tony's stupid experiments as some undignified lab rat. "What exactly can you do kid?"

"Well you see, I got bit by this wierd spider right? And then out of no where it's like my senses are better ten fold! I can lift cars without hardly trying, run faster than normal, my hearing is pretty great, and I have this wierd like sixth sense that warns me if danger!" He rushed out excitedly and I was afraid he would run out of air.

"Your 'Spidey senses? '" I asked.

"Exactly." He nodded vigorously.

"Alright enough talk. Get your lazy asses out of my office." Fury ordered making it clear he was done with us. I turned and left dutifully with Peter nipping at my heals. He seemed to get excited easily and when that happened he tended to talk....a lot. I gave him a brief tour of the tower and we finally ended in the living room with the adjoined kitchen. Vision was busy playing tic-tac-toe with himself, how I don't know, and kept coming to a stale mate each time. Scar had dissapeared from sight and the only other person in the room was Natasha. She was sitting curled up on the couch with a book in hand. Peter curiously tilted his head to read the cover. His face lifted into a smile and he sauntered over to where she was sitting. I was going to warn him but sometimes people learn best from experience. He came up from the back side of the couch.

"Hey gorgeous I've read that book. What part are you at-" Natasha frowned grabbed him by the arm, twisted it backwards, and flung him over the couch into the coffee table. He groaned getting to his feet and running his shoulder.

"Two things you need to learn Parker. One, don't interrupt her while she's reading. Two, don't flirt with her." I couldn't keep the amusement from seeping into my voice. He skirted carefully around Natasha this time who had picked up her book and started reading again.

"Why?" Peter asked with a wince.

"She's taken." Peter snorted.

"By who?" He asked sarcastically.

"Me." His face dropped a bit and I winked at him before sending him off to Tony's lab. I turned back to Natahsa who you would have thought had been reading but by the very slight tilt of her head she had been listening. " I'm assuming you already knew about his arrival?"

"Yeah. He's not exactly quiet and Fury gave me a heads up so I wouldn't kill him." She smirked her eyes skimming the words on the book's pages.

"Well you almost did." I noted glancing at the coffee table where Peter had landed.

"No. I just let him know who's in charge. He's the lowest on the pecking order now. He has to prove himself like we all did. Like we all still are. Don't worry, give it a week and I'll loosen up a bit." She reasoned flipping a page.

"Alright." I stood kissed the top of her head and set off for the training room. Things were definitely going to be more interesting at the tower. To prove my point a loud bang happened down stairs and that meant only one thing. He had found the lab. We were going to have to pretty much babysit a sarcastic kid who had just eaten everything in a candy store and was now bouncing off the walls. We definitely had our work cutout when it came to this...well....Spider Boy.
