You Look Patriotic
Requested by ninjarider1, Natasha has a female version of Steve's suit and Tony takes a picture of her in it.
Natasha had a lot of secrets. As a world renowned spy she had become a master at keeping things hidden that she didn't want the world to see.
After her relationship with Steve began, she had trusted him enough to tell her almost all of her secrets.
Almost all of them.
There were a few secrets that she had vowed to never tell anyone.
Specifically, there was one secret that she would never, never, tell Steve if she had a say in it.
Growing up, even kids in the Red Room had grown up knowing about Captain America. He had become somewhat of a beacon of hope, and some of the girls used to whisper stories about him in the middle of the night.
It had been their way to comfort one another when there was no one else willing to.
Natasha had never been one to partake in the midnight story telling, she knew eventually it would only lead to trouble. She had however, listened carefully as they spoke of him. Whispering about a selfless man in red, white, and blue who had sacrificed himself for the greater good.
And although Natasha never thought that she could be a hero. Not even in the slightest.
But it still made her feel a little bit better to know that their was someone out there saving lives instead of taking them.
So when Natasha had gotten older and become involved with Shield, she was a pretty big fan of the legendary Captain America.
Even then, most people around her didn't know. Clint had heard her say she admired his heroics once or twice, but that was the most he knew.
That is, until she had drunken way too much at a Halloween party just after having a rough mission. Then she had been convinced to put on a costume. In particular, a female version of Captain America's uniform.
After that, Natasha had probably gotten even drunker. She couldn't really remember. All she knew is that when she woke up on her bathroom floor, still wearing the uniform, she had hacked into everyone's phone who had been at the party and made sure that the photos of her in the suit were deleted.
She had put that humiliating memory behind her until she actually got to meet Steve. Then she had realized that he really was as selfless and kind as people said he was. It made her both hate him and admire him at the same time.
And eventually, as the hate faded away (rather quickly), the admiration was replaced with longing, and then later with love. And when their relationship started, she discovered that her worst nightmare had come true.
Someone had the picture.
And that someone, of course, was none other then Clint Barton.
Apparently, he knew her too well, and had printed out several copies of the photo before she could hack into his phone and delete it.
She hadn't known it until one day when she visited with Steve and saw the picture framed in the guest bedroom they were staying in.
Her eyes widened and she had practically dived on top of the frame like it was a live grenade.
Steve had been a little confused but she had left the room to confront Clint before he got the chance to ask any questions.
"What the fuck is this?" Natasha asked, practically shoving the the picture in his face.
Clint held back a laugh, "What you don't remember that?"
Natasha glared at him, "Of course I remember. I wanna know why you have the picture. I hacked into everyone's phone and deleted it the next morning."
Clint shrugged, "I made twenty copies the night it was taken."
Natasha's eyes narrowed and she frowned, "You didn't."
"I did. They have been dispersed to some of our dearest friends only to be used in case of an emergency," Clint said with a smirk on his face.
Natasha pulled a knife out of her boot and held it up to Clint, who looked at it unphased, "Clint who the fuck has this picture besides you."
Clint shrugged, "Fury, Laura, Thor, Tony, Maria, Coulson had one..."
Natasha glared at him and cursed, "You gave one to Tony!?"
"Yes. He thought it was hilarious. I give it three weeks max before he sends it to Steve."
Natasha sighed and shook her head, "I'm going to kill him, and then you."
Clint laughed, "If you do that I'm showing him the picture!"
Natasha had tried to ignore the fact that her most humiliating moment had been distributed to one of the people she trusted least with that kind of information during the rest of their stay with the Barton's but she couldn't stop thinking about it.
When they finally did get back to the compound, she had cornered Tony in a room the first chance she got.
"I know you have the picture."
Tony grinned, "What picture?"
Natasha rolled her eyes, "You know damn well what picture."
"Oh you mean this one?" Tony asked, reaching into his coat pocket and pulling it out.
Natasha tried to grab it but he quickly moved it back, "Why the hell are you carrying it around??" She asked, frustrated beyond belief.
Tony shrugged, "In case you ever killed me, then when they searched my body they would find it. And if they didn't find this one, they would find my backups which I have hidden all over the compound."
Natasha shoved him against the wall, "You and Clint have both lost your damn mind. If you show that to Steve I'll end you."
Tony frowned at the threat, "What would be so bad about him seeing it? Who knows, maybe the old man would enjoy seeing you in his uniform. Clint even said you've still got it in storage. Maybe it would be his ki-"
Natasha rolled her eyes, "God, please just shut up. He's not going to see that picture."
Tony sighed, "Fine. I won't show him."
Taking that promise as a win, Natasha retreated back to her and Steve's room, insanely irritated and stressed.
"Hey, you alright?" Steve asked when she walked in the room.
Natasha nodded unconvincingly, "Yeah. Just tired."
Steve smiled, "Come here."
Natasha didn't need him to ask twice. She walked over to the couch he was sitting on and plopped herself down in Steve's lap, leaning her head down on his shoulder as his fingers combed through her hair.
Natasha's phone buzzed and she looked at it to see a call coming in from Fury.
"He can wait a few minutes," She mumbled, declining the call.
Steve chuckled, "Why do I feel like he's gonna be pissed about that?"
Natasha sighed, closing her eyes and trying to let herself relax, "He probably will be, but I'm not concerned."
Steve's phone buzzed moments later and he chuckled quietly, "Why do I have a feeling that's Nick?"
Natasha groaned, "Ignore it."
Steve shook his head, "It could be important Nat."
She sighed but reluctantly moved so that Steve could move to get it.
He opened the text and instantly stifled a laugh.
Natasha sat up quickly, now remembering that Nick was one of the people with the picture, "What?"
Steve smiled and handed her the phone, "He's not happy with you for declining his call."
Natasha looked at the text and instantly wanted to crawl in a hole and scream. Sure enough, it was the god forsaken picture, attached with a short message that said, Tell Romanoff to stop ignoring my calls.
"You look very patriotic," Steve said, with a grin.
Natasha glared at him, "You weren't ever supposed to see that picture. I was very drunk."
Steve laughed softly and moved to pull Natasha back into his arms, "What's so bad about it? I think you look stunning. You definitely pull off the red, white, and blue better then I ever could."
Natasha couldn't help but smile a bit, "Steve I'm holding a plastic version of your shield, wearing a cheap somewhat slutty costume, and I'm in the middle of downing what was probably my twelfth vodka that night. It's a terrible picture."
Steve chuckled and kissed Natasha's forehead, "I like it. I think I should make it my background."
Natasha glared at him, "I'll dig up that video of you preforming in the 40s if you do that. I'll have it number one trending on YouTube in ten minutes. "
Steve's eyes widened, "Alright fine, I won't make it my background. But I am keeping it. Personally, I think the costume looks great on you."
Natasha smirked, "Yeah?"
Steve nodded, "You don't still have it do you?"
Natasha raised an eyebrow, "Maybe, why?" She teased, inwardly laughing at the fact that Tony had been right.
"Well, I certainly wouldn't complain if you were to wear that for Halloween this year," Steve said, blushing slightly.
Natasha grinned, "I don't know about Halloween, but maybe I can see how it fits on the night of your birthday."
Steve smirked and pulled Natasha's chin towards him, crashing his lips against hers. She moaned into the kiss and cupped his face in her hands as she tried to pull him even closer.
Her phone rang again and she pushed Steve away with a slight laugh, "Hang on a sec Soldier, Fury's calling again."
Steve groaned and sat there while Natasha answered the call.
When she was done talking, she rolled her eyes, "He needs us both in the conference room for a new mission."
Steve sighed, "God, he has terrible timing."
Natasha smirked, "Don't worry Rogers, maybe once we get back, I'll pull that stupid costume out a little early so you can see it."
Steve grinned and pulled her to him for one last kiss, "I look forward to it."
Natasha shook her head with a laugh and pulled him out of their room.
Maybe him seeing that picture wasn't so bad after all, she thought, smirking to herself as he watched her walk towards the elevator, lust and desire prominent in his eyes.
"You coming?" She teased, laughing as he quickly followed behind her.
God...she really loved this man.
