Take Your Shot
Requested by LiiliexLA Natasha and Steve are playing pool and whoever wins gets to do whatever they want while the loser does something the winner wants.
Steve and Natasha had been an a mission for six days now. It ha been successful, and neither of them were severely injured, but they were both exhausted.
Natasha had passed out on Steve's shoulder for the whole ride back.
While she had slept, he had simply watched her. Wondering how she managed to be beautiful even after taking a six day long beating with barely any sleep.
She amazed Steve to no end.
"Nat, the plane is landing in a few minutes," Steve said quietly as the jet began to prep for landing.
Natasha's eyes fluttered open and she sighed, not moving her head from Steve's shoulder, "How long was I asleep?"
Steve shrugged, "Three hours?"
"Did you sleep any?" She asked, glad that she had gotten at least some sleep.
Steve shook his head, "Not really, but you probably needed it more then me. That's the first time in a while I've seen you sleep for more then two hours without waking up."
Natasha nodded, "Guess you just calm me...or maybe I was just so exhausted my mind couldn't even create nightmares."
Steve chuckled softly as Natasha grinned at him, "Maybe."
The jet landed soon after that and they were both told that they had to drive down to Fury's office to discuss the mission.
"Are you kidding me? Why can't it wait til tomorrow morning? We haven't slept in six days." Natasha argued.
The poor shield agent who had been the messenger of the news stuttered, "I'm sorry Agent Romanoff, I'm only repeated what I was told. The director said it has to be tonight."
Natasha rolled her eyes, "Why? The mission was a success."
Steve sighed, "Come on Nat, the sooner we go, the sooner we get to go to sleep.
Natasha scowled, "Fine but if it takes more then thirty minutes I'm leaving."
Steve nodded and they went to Fury's office, only to find Clint, Thor, Bruce, and Tony in his office.
"What are they doing here?" Natasha asked, already irritated with the situation.
Steve shrugged, "I don't know."
Natasha swung the door open and frowned at Nick, "Do you mind telling me why I'm here instead of getting some sleep? The mission was a success was it not?"
Fury rolled his eye, "You aren't here to report your mission Natasha. You two are here because I'm sending all of you on a mandatory vacation. For a week. No arguments, no complaining, and no criticism. You leave in an hour so go pack."
Natasha frowned, "To go where?"
"A private island off the shores of California."
"Why?" She asked, honestly wanting nothing more then to sleep in Steve's arms all day.
Fury shook his head, "Because I said so, now stop arguing and get packed."
Natasha shook her head and leaned into Steve, muffling her groan on displeasure into his shirt while he chuckled quietly.
"Lighten up Romanoff, you can share a room with Steve on the island." Tony teased.
"Shut up unless you want to lose a tongue," Natasha threatened as they all walked back to the compound.
Steve shook his head with a small smile and wrapped his arms around Natasha's shoulders as they walked.
It was clear that she was still exhausted. When she walked, she swayed towards Steve and her eyes looked distant as they made their way to their shared room.
"What do we even need to pack?" Natasha asked, throwing her suit in the suitcase first.
Steve tried to take it out, "You don't need this."
Natasha grabbed it back and put it back in the suitcase, along with a small case of her weapons, "It's coming."
Steve sighed and began packing his own clothes, "I don't know...a swimsuit? Clothes for nice weather... you're better at this then I am."
Natasha nodded, "I know. Just sit down. I'll get it."
Steve did as she said and leaned his head against the headboard of their bed as he watched her pack.
Only now did he realize how tired he really was.
He could barely keep his eyes open.
"Steve? You ready?" Natasha asked a few minutes later.
Steve nodded and stood up, grabbing the suitcases, "Yeah. Let's go."
They left their room and went out to the jet only to find that they were the first ones there.
Natasha boarded anyways and was quick to grab the two seats in the very back of the jet, hoping that her and Steve could sleep for at least part of the flight.
Steve joined her and soon enough the other avengers arrived.
Natasha had already made herself comfortable and was leaning against Steve's shoulder, waiting until they were in the air to let herself fall asleep completely.
"Damn you two really look like shit," Tony said as he boarded.
Natasha rolled her eyes, "Have you checked out a mirror lately Stark? At least we've got a reason."
Tony frowned, "Ouch. You really know how to break a man's self esteem Romanoff."
Clint nodded as he threw his things into a seat, "It's her specialty."
Natasha shook her head and closed her eyes, leaning further into Steve's warmth, "If you all don't shut up and let me sleep I'll personally slit your throats while you sleep."
Tony raised his hands in mock surrender, "Alright alright, enjoy your beauty sleep."
Natasha sighed and closed her eyes, letting herself fall asleep against Steve's chest while he did the same.
-----------
"Hey lovebirds! The plane is landing," Clint yelled, throwing a paper airplane at Steve and Natasha.
Natasha frowned and turned back towards Steve, "Why," She groaned.
Steve chuckled quietly and sighed, "What time is it?"
Tony looked down at his watch, "Around three our time, but it's only eleven here."
Natasha stood up and stretched, "Thank god. We can get some more sleep."
Steve nodded with a slight yawn and the team filtered out of the jet.
Natasha and Steve were quick to find their room and go right back to sleep, not bothering to explore the resort with the others.
----------
The next morning, Steve and Natasha had both finally gotten some much needed sleep.
"Good morning," Steve said, turning onto his side and resting his hands on Natasha's waist.
She hummed in response and reached up to snake her arms around his neck, "Morning. How'd you sleep?"
"Good, no one woke us up in the middle of the night so it was better then the last seven nights."
Natasha nodded, "Speaking of waking us up, what time is it? I would've thought Clint and Tony would be banging on the door after nine."
Steve looked over at the clock, "Almost noon. I'm surprised they didn't try and wake us up."
"Me too. I'm not complaining though."
Steve nodded and opened his mouth to say something before being inturrupted by a banging at the door.
Natasha sighed, "We spoke too soon."
Steve nodded and walked to the door, opening it and sighing when he saw the rest of the team on the other side of it.
"What do you idiots want?" Natasha yelled from inside.
"We want lunch," Clint said as though it was obvious.
Steve raised an eyebrow and Natasha shook her head, "Why is that our problem?"
Tony pointed at Steve, "He's the only good cook."
Natasha sighed and swung her legs off the bed, pulling one of Steve's hoodies on over her tank top and walking towards the bathroom, "You're up Rogers."
Steve shook his head with a small smile and got out of bed, following the other avengers down to the kitchen to make them lunch.
Natasha showered and got dressed before going down, so by the time she was ready, she was starving.
"What'd you make?" She asked Steve as she entered the kitchen. Finding him alone at the table with a glass of water and a book.
The other avengers had finished their meals in seconds so they had all scattered off to do something else.
"Just some club sandwiches. You hungry?" He asked, setting the book down and greeting her with a kiss on the cheek.
Natasha nodded, "Starving."
"I was waiting for you," He said, pulling a plate out for both of them and handing her the sandwich.
Natasha smiled as she took a bite, "Thank you."
They finished eating and decided to finally look around the resort.
It was a huge place for only six of them to be staying there.
The others were out by the pool acting like children so Natasha and Steve opted to go somewhere a little quieter.
Eventually they came across a small room with a larger tv and a pool table.
Natasha grinned and picked up a pool stick, "Wanna play a round Rogers?"
"Sure," Steve said with a small laugh.
Natasha began racking the balls and smiled, "How about we up the stakes a bit."
Steve raised an eyebrow, "How so?"
"Winner gets to do whatever they want the rest of the day and the loser can't complain."
Steve laughed and picked up a stick, "Alright fine. You break."
Natasha did so and smiled as three solid balls went into a hole, "Looks like you're stripes."
Steve frowned, he hadn't really anticipated her being very good at the game. He hadn't played it in years and wasn't sure he could beat her.
He took his turn and managed to sink one ball into a hole.
Natasha smirked and took her turn, effortless shooting another one in.
Steve frowned, "This feels like cheating."
Natasha walked up to him and ran her hand down his chest, "I'm not even trying Rogers."
He sighed and lined up his shot, trying to ignore Natasha as she ran kisses up his back.
Just as he went to shoot, she kissed his neck and bite down slightly, making his arm slip so that he barely hit the ball he was aiming for, instead, hitting one of hers into the hole.
Steve turned around with a frown, "That's definitely cheating."
Natasha grinned, "Is it?"
Steve nodded, his breathing increasing as she leaned up so that their lips were merrily a few centimeters apart.
"I didn't think you'd mind," She whispered, brushing her lips against his ever so slightly before moving past him and taking another shot.
Steve shook his head with a sigh, she was impossible.
She handed him his pool stick with a smirk, "You're up."
This time, Steve liked up his shot carefully, bending around Natasha and pressing her figure into the table slightly, kissing her neck as he did so before shooting the ball into another hole.
Natasha smiled and turned around with a grin, "Nice shot."
Steve smiled softly, "You must be my good luck charm."
"Not lucky enough because you're still loosing."
Steve frowned and nudged her with his shoulder lightly, "Only cause you cheated."
Natasha shrugged and took another shot, "I don't remember anything I did being against the rules."
Steve shook his head and went to take another shot, pausing when Natasha wrapped her arms around his waist, "Nat..."
She looked up at him and smiled, "Yes?"
"You're distracting me."
She kissed him softly, "Am I?"
Steve nodded, "Yes."
"So you want me to stop?" She asked, kissing him again and gently biting his lip, knowing that it drove Steve crazy.
Steve closed his eyes, he didn't even care about the game anymore. All he wanted was to go back upstairs with Natasha, "No."
Natasha grinned, "Then take your shot."
Steve looked at the pool table and aimed at the eight ball. He was going to lose anyways, he might as well end it early.
Shooting the ball into the hole, he looked at Natasha with a small smile, "You win."
Natasha smirked, "I think I've got a pretty good idea what I wanna do the rest of the day."
"Yeah? What's that?" Steve asked, following behind her quickly as she pulled him out of the room.
Natasha pulled him towards her for a kiss, "Don't worry. You'll find out."
Hey guys. Sorry this took me so long. Like I said before, I just got a puppy and he is keeping me up late and waking me up early so I've been sleeping any chance I can which is normally when I write, but here's the chapter.
I also got very sidetracked in the prompt and wrote almost 1200 without any pool so it's much longer then I thought as well😂
I hope y'all enjoyed this chapter and if you did please leave a vote and comment.
One more thing, someone asked for a picture of my dog so here he is.
That's all now😁 Happy Friday!
