Stupid
Everyone in the avengers can see that Steve and Natasha love each other except the two of them.
"Captain Rogers, your presence has been requested in the common room." Friday announced through the training room.
Steve stopped running on the treadmill and sighed.
He walked towards the elevator and pressed the button to go down to the main floor.
The elevator arrived and Steve couldn't help when the doors opened to reveal Natasha.
"You get summoned too?" He joked, stepping in besides her.
Natasha nodded. "Any ideas what this is about?"
Steve shook his head. "Probably another one of Tony's team bonding expeditions."
Natasha laughed as the elevator reached the common room and the doors opened. "Unfortunately you're probably right."
They walked into the common room together to find all their fellow teammates sitting on the couch.
"Finally. What took you so long?" Tony asked the two.
Steve rolled his eyes and ignored the question.
"You gonna tell us why we got called down here?" Clint asked.
Tony grinned. "Right, that. We are all going to a charity gala tonight. Be ready to leave by 5 pm. I want everyone looking their best."
Natasha sighed and rolled her eyes. "You couldn't have told us this over a text?"
Tony shrugged. "Calling you all down here was more dramatic. Plus, some of you..." He glanced at Steve, "still can barely use a phone."
Steve frowned. "I can use a phone." He argued.
"Yeah sure you can." Tony replied walking away.
Steve rolled his eyes again and walked back to the elevator with Natasha.
"See you tonight." Natasha said with a smile, waking to her room.
Steve smiled back and looked down at his feet nodding. He didn't understand the feeling in his stomach that only came about when he was with Natasha.
Pushing his thoughts aside, Steve went back to the training room. Hoping that maybe running a few more miles on the treadmill would help take his mind off her.
A few hours later Steve finally stopped running and went to take a shower and change into his suit.
Unfortunately his mind was so preoccupied that he had forgotten to tie his tie, instead, he had left it dangling around his neck.
He was somehow the last one to arrive downstairs so when he finally walked out of the elevator.
"Look who finally showed up." Tony teased, rolling his eyes.
Clint laughed, "Still not ready though huh Cap?"
Steve's eyebrows furrowed. "What do you mean?"
Natasha pushed past the rest of the laughing avengers and walked towards Steve with a small smile.
She took Steve's tie in her hands and slowly began tying it for him.
Steve's cheeks flushed red and he forced a small laugh. "I guess I forgot to do that." He mumbled.
Natasha smirked and finished her task. "There. Now you're ready." She teased, stepping back.
"Thank you." Steve muttered, struggling to find words after seeing Natasha's full outfit.
Natasha smiled again and walked out of the tower and towards the limo that Tony had ordered.
Steve stood still, unable to make himself move.
The other avengers shared a look and Thor gave Steve a large pat on his shoulder. "Come Lord Steven. We shall save you a seat besides Natasha."
Steve blushed again and walked with the rest of them to the limo, taking his seat next to Natasha.
"You boys finally ready to go?" She asked, pouring herself a glass of champagne.
They all nodded and the limo finally pulled away.
"So where is this gala anyways?" Bruce asked.
"The Met." Tony replied casually.
"The Met? How the hell did the most dangerous group of people in New York get invited to a gala at the Met?" Clint asked shaking his head.
"I pulled a few strings and made it happen." Tony replied, acting like it wasn't a big deal.
Natasha sighed. "If any of you break a priceless piece of art, I'm not chipping in to help pay." She warned, looking at Tony, Clint, and Thor.
"Why are you looking at us? Rogers and Banner could just as easily break something." Clint asked, looking offended.
Natasha rolled her eyes. "Because they weren't the ones who drove a tesla through Tony's ice sculpture at the last party we went to."
Thor chuckled and Clint grinned, remembering the incident.
"That was all Clint's idea. Don't blame Thor and I for just going along for the ride." Tony argued.
"Whatever. My point is. Don't break anything."
Steve laughed and climbed out of the limo as they arrived at the gala, turning around to offer Natasha his hand.
She gratefully accepted it and gracefully climbed out onto the red carpet.
Walking next to Steve down the carpet they did their best to take pictures with the rest of the avengers and answer some of the media's question.
Tony did most of the talking, not wanting the rest of his team to embarrass him.
Once making it inside, they went to the table saved for them and sat down.
"I'm going to go get a drink. Anyone want anything?" Natasha asked standing up.
Each of the avengers gave her a drink order and she sighed.
"Steve, do you mind joining me? I don't think I can carry six drinks on my own."
Steve stood up quickly and followed Natasha to the bar.
"Who do you think will be the first one to break something?" Natasha asked, smirking as they walked away from the table.
Steve laughed. "Definitely Clint. He's been eyeing that ice sculpture since we walked in here."
Natasha laughed and agreed.
They ordered everyone's drinks and walked back to the table just in time for the first round of food to be served.
Thor looked down at the small salad and frowned. "Where is the rest of it?" He asked his teammates.
"That is the rest of it." Tony said, picking up his fork.
"Where is the meat?" Thor asked, pushing the plate away from him.
Tony pushed it back towards him and sighed. "There is no meat."
Thor frowned and stood up to go get more drinks.
The avengers ate dinner and talked amongst themselves while Tony mingled with the other guest.
"Clint sit back down." Natasha ordered, seeing Clint stand up and start to walk towards the ice sculpture.
Clint frowned. "Why? I just want to go mingle."
Natasha glared at him and Clint sat down in defeat.
"You guys keep an eye on Clint. Don't let him near that ice sculpture. I'm going to get another drink." She said, walking away from the table.
Steve stared at her with a smile on his face as she walked away.
"Man, you have got it bad for her." Clint said, shaking his head.
Steve furrowed his eyebrows. "What?"
Tony rolled his eyes, suddenly joining the conversation. "Please. We all know you love Romanoff."
Steve's eyes widened. "What! No. I have loving feelings for Natasha but I don't..." Steve sighed, "Fuck. I do love her. Why didn't you guys tell me?"
Thor laughed. "We thought you knew!"
Steve stood up. "Clint don't destroy the ice sculpture, I've got to go talk to Nat."
Tony whistled and laughed. "Go get her Capsicle!"
Steve rolled his eyes and gently tapped Natasha's shoulder as he approached her.
She turned around and smiled at the sight of him.
"Hey." She said, leaning against the wall.
Steve smiled. "Hey. Can I talk to you outside for a minute?" He asked, motioning to the door.
Natasha's smile faultered slightly but she nodded.
Once they got outside, Natasha looked up at Steve with furrowed eyebrows. "What's going on?" She asked.
Steve sighed, not knowing where to begin. "Natasha you know how clueless I can be when it comes to women. I miss social ques, I can't flirt, and any time I get near one I stumble over my words."
Natasha nodded and Steve continued. "Well apparently I'm also clueless to my own feelings. I've spent the last few weeks thinking about you, wondering why you are constantly in my mind. And I finally realized it tonight and I just really needed to tell you how I feel."
Natasha gave Steve an encouraging smile. "How do you feel?" She asked quietly.
"I love you." Steve whispered, staring into Natasha's eyes for any sign that she felt the same.
"I was wondering when you would finally say something." She muttered, pulling Steve's lips to her own.
Steve kissed her back passionately before pulling away with a shocked look on his face. "You knew too?"
Natasha laughed. "I certainly had my suspicions. And I was hopeful considering I love you too."
Steve's eyes lit up. "You do?"
Kissing Steve again, Natasha laughed. "Yes."
Steve kissed her again and had no intentions of going back inside anytime soon until they heard a loud crash come from inside.
Natasha sighed. "Damn it Clint."
They both rushed inside to find Clint laughing in a pile of ice and water.
Steve shook his head and looked down at Natasha, who couldn't hide the small grin on her features.
Steve kissed her forehead and grabbed her hand. Wondering how much sooner he could have done so if he wasn't so damn clueless.
