Story Time
Requested by mcflurrymatcha... Steve and Natasha's kids are learning about the blip in school and are confused so they ask Steve to tell them about that day.
Steve had been working at his laptop when the front door swung open and his two kids ran in, throwing their backpacks on the ground and kicking off their shoes.
"Daddy! Guess what we did today!" Sarah said, jumping into his lap.
Steve shut his laptop and grinned at her. "What?"
James interupted, jumping up and down besides Steve. "We learned about the blip!"
Steve raised his eyebrows, picking up James and setting him on his other knee. "Yeah?"
"Yeah! And there was a little girl who said she was born on the day of the blip and then blipped away only a few hours later!" Sarah said, not allowing her twin to interrupt her this time.
"Wow. Sounds like you two had a busy day at school." Steve said, laughing.
James nodded, "We did. Sarah even got into an argument with the teacher."
Steve frowned and he quickly opened his emails to make sure the teacher hadn't contacted him about it.
Unfortunately, at the top of his inbox was an email from the school.
"Sarah we've talked about this before. What was it this time?"
"Mrs. Kendra went over a list of all the superheros that blipped and mom wasn't on it. So I told her that she was missing the black widow and she lied and said mom didn't blip. But you told me a story the other night about mom being away for a while after fighting Thanos." Sarah explained.
Steve sighed. "Well your teacher as right. Mom didn't blip. How about this, go get a snack and do your homework and when you finish, I'll tell you the story. Okay?"
Sarah and James nodded and rushed into the kitchen to eat.
Steve turned back and quickly emailed the teacher back, apologizing for Sarah's attitude and promising to tell her the full story of what happened with Natasha.
Walking into the kitchen to make sure nothing had been set on fire, Steve was surprised to find both of his children sitting quietly doing homework.
Normally it took them about three hours to actually sit down and do it.
Not wanting to jinx it, Steve left them to their work and went back to his laptop to finish up some mission reporting.
After Tony had saved the world, Steve had returned the soul stone in exchange for Natasha back.
They had come back and by some strange miracle, Natasha had gotten pregnant. With twins.
James and Sarah were born and suddenly both Natasha and Steve realized that parenting would be their hardest mission yet.
They worked out a deal with Shield so that they could both work from home and only go into missions when it was extremely important.
However, sometimes Natasha would go help Peter or Wanda with a mission just to make sure everything went smoothly.
She had gotten a call from Peter earlier that morning asking for her help with a short mission in Chicago.
Steve just hoped that maybe she would come home before he had to tell the story of her death and how he got her back. He was worried it might be a little to complicated for the eight year olds to understand.
"Dad! We finished! Tell us the story now!" James yelled, running into the room again.
Steve sighed and picked up Sarah and James, walking over to the couch with them.
"You guys gotta pay attention okay?"
They both nodded.
"Okay. Well, after The Snap, your mom and I were both still here but we weren't dating. We were just best friends."
Morgan furrowed her eyebrows, "You mean you didn't love mommy?"
Steve sighed. "No, I did. I was just keeping it a secret."
"Oh! You mean like how James has a crush on Taylor?" Sarah asked, giggling.
James scowled. "Be quiet Sarah!"
"Alright alright. Can I continue the story?" Steve asked.
They both nodded and Steve continued. "When your Uncle Tony came back from Space, we found a way to defeat Thanos. Your mom and I promised each other that we would do whatever it takes to save everyone else. Then we had to spilt up to go get what we needed to beat Thanos."
"The infinity stones?" James asked.
Steve nodded. "Yeah, the infinity stones. Your mom went with Uncle Clint to get the soul stone in a place that none of us had ever been before. When they got there. She found out that in order to get the stone, one of them had to sacrifice themselves."
Sarah frowned. "You mean someone had to die?"
Steve nodded. "Yeah, the stone she was getting couldn't leave unless someone traded their life."
"But Uncle Clint and mom are both still alive." James said, confused.
"That's because your mom sacrificed herself to save Uncle Clint. And after we defeated Thanos, I went back to return the stones and traded it back for her. That's when you two came along." Steve explained, smiling at them.
"So you saved mommy?" Sarah asked.
Steve nodded and chuckled to himself. "Yes, I did. But only because I couldn't do anything without her around."
"Yeah. Mom's the best." James said, laying his head on Steve's lap.
Sarah frowned at James. "James! Your gonna hurt dad's feelings!"
Steve laughed and was about to say something when he saw Natasha leaning on the doorframe with a smirk.
"Whose hurting dad's feelings?"
The kids shot up from the couch and ran to Natasha, jumping into her arms.
"How was school?" Natasha asked ruffling James hair and kissing Sarah's cheek.
They quickly told her everything that Steve had heard about earlier that day and he sighed. "Sarah got into another argument with the teacher." He said.
Natasha frowned and looked at the girl in her arms. "Were you right?" She asked.
Sarah shook her head. "No. I thought I was but then dad told us about how you didn't blip and you just sacrificed yourself before he saved you."
Natasha raised an eyebrow. "I thought we talked about this Sarah. We only argue if we know we're right."
Sarah giggled and Steve glared at Natasha, who only smirked in return.
"And what's this about dad telling you a story about me?" Natasha asked, setting the kids down and leaning on Steve's chest after giving his a peck on the cheek.
"Sarah thought you disappeared in the blip so I told her about what really happened."
Natasha nodded and checked her phone to see what time it was.
"You two go wash up for dinner. It'll be ready in half an hour." Natasha told them. Playfully chasing them halfway up the stairs.
Once they were upstairs Natasha came back to Steve and wrapped her arms around Steve's neck. "How was your day?" She asked, her lips only centimeters away from his own.
Steve shrugged. "Its a lot better now that you're here. How'd the mission go?"
"Good. We were in and out pretty quickly considering they sent Peter in alone before he called me for backup."
Steve sighed. "Nick better learn how to manage his agents or he's gonna get them all killed."
Natasha nodded and closed her eyes. "Let's not worry about that right now though." She mumbled, kissing him slowly but passionately.
They probably would have stayed like that for much longer but soon they heard the familiar sound of feet coming down the steps so they slowly pulled away.
"I got dinner tonight, you can just relax with the kids." Steve said, kissing Natasha's forehead and walking into the kitchen.
As she watched him walk away she couldn't help but smile. How did she get so lucky?
Hey guys. Sorry it's been a while. I've had soccer tournaments, homework, and a lot of plans lately so my time to write has been limited.
I'll try to update again this weekend but I might not have time. If not, just know I have a lot of request in my drafts so there are more chapter coming!
If you liked this one then please leave a vote and comment! Thanks!
