Somewhere Only We Know
Inspired by the song "Somewhere Only we Know" by Lily Allen, Steve wants to take Natasha somewhere special.
Also,
PLEASE READ THE NOTE AT THE END OF THE CHAPTER...IT'S VERY IMPORTANT.
Steve had originally been surprised to find out that Natasha wasn't a morning person. She never seemed tired and in all the years that he had known her, she had been up earlier then him most days.
It wasn't until they started dating that he realized she absolutely hated waking up early.
Turns out the reason that she was always up earlier then he was was because most nights she didn't sleep longer then a few hours. But when they both realized how much easier it was to sleep when they were together, Natasha had been very vocal about how much she hated to be woken up early unless necessary.
Personally, Steve thought his reason for this morning was good enough.
"Nat?" He asked, placing a chaste kiss on the back of her shoulder and combing his fingers through her hair delicately.
Natasha groaned, scrunching up her face as she saw the light seeping into the bedroom, "Steve it's early."
Steve chuckled slightly at the sight of the infamous Black Widow complaining about being woken up early...it made him feel like the luckiest man in the world to know that she trusted him enough to be so domestic with him.
"It's nine Natasha, and I've got something planned for us today so you've gotta wake up."
Natasha furrowed her eyebrows, turning around to face Steve, "Nine is early on a Saturday...and what do you have planned that means waking up early?"
Steve shrugged, "It's a surprise."
Natasha sighed, "You're such a sap Rogers...one of these days I'll get you to actually tell me the locations of our dates before we get there."
"Probably, but not today so c'mon. I got breakfast and coffee," Steve said with a wide smile.
Natasha sighed but got out of the bed. Steve followed her to the kitchen and kissed her cheek when she smiled slightly at the sight of waffles and bacon in small to go containers along with a large cup of coffee for her.
"I'm still mad you woke me up," She said weakly with a smile on her lips as Steve came around to the front of her.
"I'm sure there's something I can do to earn your forgiveness," Steve teased, leaning down to kiss her.
Natasha pulled away from the kiss with a low hum, "Yeah, a lot more of that...you know, I say we postpone whatever date you've got planned and just spend today making it up to me."
Steve was tempted to give into her, especially when her hands played with the hem of his shirt innocently...something that always led to something more when it came to Natasha.
"Nat, today-. Not today-" Steve whispered, closing his eyes as Natasha placed kisses down his jawline.
"Hm? Did you say something soldier?" She asked, looking up at him with a confident grin.
Steve shook his head with a sigh, forcing himself to back up slightly, "It's the last day we can do what I've got planned."
Natasha sighed but the smile never left her lips, "It was worth a try."
Steve laughed and handed Natasha the food, "I promise I'll find a time to make it up to you."
"You better. Because now you've woken me up early and rejected me," Natasha teased.
Steve shook his head with a slight chuckle, "I didn't reject you Nat."
She shrugged, "Kinda feels like rejection."
Steve leaned forward and caught Natasha's lips in a quick but still toe-curling kiss.
"I'm not rejecting you, I just need to postpone this so that I can take you somewhere," Steve said quietly against her lips.
Natasha sighed playfully, "Alright fine. I'll go get ready. What should I wear?"
"Anything...something comfortable."
Natasha nodded before disappearing into the room that they practically shared despite Natasha never having officially moved into.
Minutes later she came back out in jeans and one of Steve's old t-shirts that looked better on her then it ever had on him.
"You look great," He said with a small smile, kissing her cheek.
Natasha laughed, "You always say that."
"It's always true," Steve defended with a small laugh, "You ready to go?"
Natasha nodded, "You still not gonna tell me where we're going?"
"Nope. But I will tell you that we've got a long car ride."
Natasha frowned, "How long?"
Steve shook his head, "If I tell you that, you'll figure out where we're going."
Natasha rolled her eyes and followed Steve down to the garage.
He opened the door for her and Natasha tried not to smile as she sighed, "You really can't help being so damn romantic can you?"
Steve raised an eyebrow, getting into the car as well, "Since when is opening the door for someone romantic? My Ma raised me to do that for everyone."
Natasha smiled, propping her feet up on the dash, "Always a gentleman."
Steve shook his head with a small smile and pulled away from the compound.
"I'm surprised you haven't told me to take my feet off the dash," Natasha said a while into the drive.
Steve looked over at her with a raised eyebrow, "Do you want me to?"
Natasha shrugged, "I won't even if you do. I'm just surprised."
"Alright, take your feet off the dash Nat."
Natasha shook her head, "Nope."
Steve chuckled, "You're impossible."
She shrugged, "You're the one who woke me up early just to drive me to an unknown far off place."
Steve reached over to take Natasha's hand and offered her a smile, "I promise it will be worth it."
Natasha couldn't help but smile back, she trusted him and she knew that whatever he was planning would likely make her fall even deeper in love with him.
She felt slightly guilty that she had yet to tell him how she felt but she also knew that Steve would never doubt her feelings for him just because she had a hard time saying "I love you".
And it wasn't as though he had said it to her yet either, though she suspected that he was simply waiting for her to be the first to say it so that he didn't rush her. Something that Natasha was secretly very grateful for.
Hours passed and Steve still wouldn't tell Natasha where they were going. She had assumed it was probably somewhere in DC but couldn't imagine what was out here that was so important.
"Alright, we're almost there....can you close your eyes?" Steve asked.
Natasha frowned, "Why?"
Steve sighed, "Please?"
Rolling her eyes again, Natasha relented and closed her eyes, "Fine but don't try anything Rogers. I can still kick your ass with my eyes closed."
Steve chuckled, "I know."
The car came to a stop and Steve came around to Natasha's side of the car.
"Can I open my eyes yet?" Natasha asked, taking his hand as she stepped out of the car.
Steve's hands covered her eyes and he gently led her forward, "Not yet."
Natasha sighed in mock frustration, but in reality she had never felt so much like a normal person. With Steve she could just be Natasha Romanoff...not the Black Widow or the ex-assassin.
He brought out the part of her that the red room had tried so hardly to bury underneath years of training....he made her feel loved.
"Now?" She asked a few minutes later after they walked up some steps. Surprisingly, Natasha really had no idea where they were at aside from knowing it was in Washington.
"Almost..." Steve said, guiding her up a few more steps before stopping, "Alright. Now you can open them."
Natasha did so and smiled when she realized where they were, "Is this the mall we came to with that flash drive?"
Now the mall was obviously abandoned.
Steve nodded, his cheeks were slightly flushed as though he wasn't so sure that the surprise was good enough, "This is where we had our first kiss."
Natasha nodded, now noticing that they were standing in the exact place on the motionless escalator that they had been at when she kissed him, "Maybe we should try it again, if I remember correctly, you were a little uncomfortable with it last time."
Steve chuckled slightly, "Uncomfortable wasn't the word to describe it."
Natasha raised an eyebrow, "What was?"
"Flustered? You certainly caught me off guard."
Natasha grinned, "Kiss me."
"What?" Steve asked, a small smile playing on his lips.
"This isn't exactly a public display of affection but if it were, we could make some people very uncomfortable."
Steve nodded, "Yes. We would."
Natasha reached up and pulled Steve down to her for a searing kiss, much different from their first one.
Pulling away, Natasha suddenly found herself overwhelmed with love for the flustered man in front of her.
It had been almost three years since their first kiss, and nearly seven months since they had started really dating and yet he still got the same flustered look on his face that he got after each and every one of their kisses.
"They're tearing this place down tomorrow," Steve said a few moments later, running a hand through his hair, "I figured we could come see it one more time so I called the land owner and he was more then happy to let Captain America hang out here for the day."
Natasha smiled, "I'm glad you brought me here Steve." She said, leaning her head on his shoulder and sitting down on the step next to him.
"You know, I'll always be grateful that you helped me fight Hydra...Fury was supposedly dead, you didn't owe any loyalty to me."
Natasha shrugged, "I'll always be loyal to you Steve, and I knew that if I didn't help you, you'd be going after a murderous assassin alone and even then I didn't like the thought of you getting hurt."
"Bucky probably would've killed me that day on the highway without you."
Natasha raised and eyebrow, "Probably?"
Steve chuckled, "Alright he definitely would've killed me."
Natasha nodded, reaching out to grab Steve's hand and letting a comfortable silence fall between them.
"Steve?" Natasha asked a few moments later, looking up at him with the hint of a smile.
"Hm?"
"I love you."
Steve's eyes widened slightly before he smiled, shaking his head slightly, "You know I brought you all the way down here to tell you that and you still beat me to it."
Natasha just smirked, "Don't be so slow old man. Now I've already said it so are you going to say it back or make me say it again?"
Steve smiled, his eyes full of love, "I'm old and I already forgot what you said."
Natasha laughed quietly before cupping his cheek gently and pecking his lips.
"I love you Steve," She whispered before kissing him again.
Steve wrapped his arms around Natasha and smiled into the kiss.
"I love you too," He said pulling away for a brief second before kissing her again.
Natasha let herself get completely lost in the kiss.
She found it slightly ironic that they were still sitting in the same place they had shared their first kiss.
Back then, she had been struggling to trust Steve Rogers...now, she trusted him with everything she had and wasn't afraid to say she loved him.
And for Steve, he had known he loved her since that first kiss and now, he knew that not only did she love him too, but that his love for her would never stop growing.
They spent the rest of their day in the mall reminiscing about their old missions and seeing how many surfaces they could use to prove how much they loved each other...starting with that damn escalator.
Hey guys! So please don't scroll past this because I have a pretty important note.
Wattpad only allows 200 chapters per story and while I'm surprised I got to this point, I have no intentions of stopping, so from now on chapters will be in a second book called Romanogers Oneshots 2. It will be the same type of thing just in a different location.
The first 'chapter' is already up just so you guys can find it now if you'd like and I hope you will all continue to read my stories!
That being said, thanks for everything you guys comment and all the votes! 200 chapters probably wouldn't have happened without the extreme support from all of you!
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and if you did, please comment and vote!!
