Pregnant and Protective
Requested by anya_j_w, part 2 to "gone and back again" that isn't sad, so basically I just wrote pregnancy fluff.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Steve asked, approaching Natasha.
Natasha shrugged and smiled up at Steve, "My feet hurt but other then that I'm better then ever."
"Want me to rub them?" Steve offered, sitting down besides her.
"No it's okay. You don't need to." Natasha said, not wanting to be a bother.
Steve shook his head, "Really, I don't mind."
Natasha smirked and lifted her legs to put them in Steve's lap. He began to rub her feet slowly and she felt the tension and pain from earlier dissolve away.
She knew he was good with his hands but this was unreal.
When Natasha's feet finally stopped hurting he smiled and pulled her into his lap.
"Better?" He asked.
Natasha nodded, "Much better. Thank you."
Steve smiled and placed a hand on her protruding stomach, "Anything for my girls."
"What makes you think it's a girl?" Natasha asked, smiling at how much he already loved their child.
Steve shrugged, "I don't know...call it a gut feeling."
Natasha grinned, "I think it's a boy."
Steve rolled his eyes, "Sometimes I think you disagree with me just for fun."
Natasha smirked, "Who me? Never."
Steve laughed and grabbed her hand, running his thumb in circles on her skin, making her feel warm and fuzzy in a way only Steve could make her feel.
"What do you wanna do tonight?" Steve asked after a few minutes of quietly holding her.
Natasha rested her head on his shoulder, "Besides just laying here with you? Hm. Maybe a Christmas movie and some popcorn."
Steve kissed Natasha and smiled, "Sounds good to me. What do you wanna watch?"
Natasha grabbed the remote and began scrolling through the holiday movies.
Over the last few weeks she had been trying to catch him up on all the greatest holiday films he missed while in the ice.
"See anything interesting?" Natasha asked as she scrolled through the movies.
Steve's eyes lit up and he nodded to the screen, "Have you ever seen that one?"
"That one?" Natasha asked, scrolling back to Its a Wonderful Life.
Steve nodded excitedly, "Yeah, it came out when I was a soldier."
Natasha sighed, she wasn't a fan of old movies but Steve looked too excited for her to deny him, "Alright. You wanna make the popcorn?"
"Sure. I'll be right back." He said, kissing her forehead before going to their kitchen to make popcorn.
Natasha smiled as he walked away and stood up slowly to go get some blankets for them.
When she came back, Steve was sitting on the couch with a large bowl of popcorn and some chocolate chips because lately she had been craving them with her popcorn.
She smiled at the fact that he knew her so well.
"Ready?" He asked, curling her arm around her again when she sat besides him and put the blankets over them.
"Yup," Natasha said, leaning her head on Steve's chest and putting the popcorn in her lap.
Steve pressed play on the movie and they began watching it.
Natasha found herself liking it more then she expected and Steve couldn't help but spend most of the time watching her reaction to the film rather then the movie itself.
It was fun for him to finally be on the other end of the movie choice. Now instead of her catching him up on modern movies, he was showing her one from his time.
Natasha gave a small laugh all of the sudden and Steve looked at her with raised eyebrows, "What?"
Natasha smirked, "It's just funny to think you grew up when movies were still in black and white."
Steve shook his head, "I was only like seventeen when he first movie in color came out."
"That's not helping your case honey." Natasha said, smirking again.
"Hey, at least this one has sound. Movies without sound used to be miserably boring." Steve said, looking awfully nostalgic.
Natasha laughed, "Without sound? My god. I'm dating a dinosaur."
Steve shook his head, "Only for a few years. Then we had sound."
Shaking her head, Natasha put her finger over Steve's lips with a laugh, "Stop talking."
Steve grinned, "Sorry."
She kissed him for a moment before trying to watch the movie again.
Steve continued to watch Natasha's reaction to the movie and couldn't help but smile everytime she did.
"You gonna watch the movie Rogers or are you just gonna keep staring at me?" Natasha asked, looking at him with a grin.
Steve smiled, "I've seen it before. I'd much rather watch you."
Natasha rolled her eyes and leaned on Steve again, holding her hand on her stomach while his rested over it protectively.
"Have you thought of any names?" Natasha asked a few moments later.
Steve shrugged, "A few."
"What are they?"
"Well, if it's a girl, I thought maybe Sarah."
Natasha smiled, "After you're mother?"
Steve nodded, "And if it's a boy I thought maybe James."
Natasha nodded, "Sarah and James. I like those."
"Have you thought of any?" Steve asked.
"I like those better as first names. Maybe Sarah Nicole Rogers for a girl and James Clinton Rogers for a boy."
Steve smiled, "Perfect."
Natasha sighed in contentment and closed her eyes, letting herself use Steve's shoulder and chest as a pillow.
Steve noticed her drifting off to sleep and turned the movie off. It was almost over anyways.
He lifted her up and Natasha nuzzled further into him, wrapping her arms around his neck as he carried her into their bedroom.
"Goodnight Nat." Steve whispered, kissing her forehead as he laid her on their bed.
"Night Steve. Love you." Natasha mumbled, turning on her side to face where Steve normally slept.
"I love you too." He said getting into the bed on his side and wrapping one arm around Natasha and holding her hand with the other.
Natasha hummed in contentment and burried her head in the crook of his neck, letting his scent coax her to sleep quickly.
Steve looked down at the redhead sleeping on top of him, her hair spread out over his chest and shining in the moonlight.
He smiled and watched Natasha lovingly until he too fell asleep, all the while dreaming about how amazing it would be to have a child with her.
Hey guys. I hope you enjoyed this fluff bc I can't promise it'll last. But honestly it probably will bc next chapters will probably focus on Christmas.
Let me know what you thought of this! Comment and vote if you enjoyed!
Side note, if you haven't seen Marriage Story yet it's brilliant. If Scarlett doesn't win an Oscar and Golden Globe I'll be shocked.
