Not my Style

So I spent the weekend in Nashville and couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if Steve and Natasha had a mission there.

If you've never been, it's very much a partying city. There's a bunch of drunk people, and lots of bars with loud music.

This one shot will essentially be Natasha and Steve spending a little bit of time there after the mission is over.

"Natasha, why don't we just call Fury and go home? This place isn't really my style." Steve said as Natasha dragged him through the crowded streets.

Natasha grinned over her shoulder at him, "Come on Steve, live a little. We've only got six hours to kill. It's nighttime in music City, let's at least go get a drink somewhere."

Steve sighed, but didn't object.

Natasha picked one of the many bars and her and Steve walked inside.

Steve didn't take more then a second to realize how much he hated bars like this.

It wasn't like the bars in New York. Those were crowded and had music, but they didn't even compare to this.

The bar was jam packed. Drunk people stood around all the tables, dancing and singing along to the live country music.

When Natasha dragged Steve to the rooftop bar, he thought the crowds would get smaller but was disappointed to realize they were even worse on the roof.

She found a spot for them at the back corner of the roof and let go of Steve's hand for the first time that night.

Although Steve hadn't even realized she had been holding it, he suddenly missed the feeling.

"I'm gonna go grab a drink. You want one?"

Steve shook his head and Natasha walked off to the bar.

Steve looked over the barrier down at the ground below them. Party buses were more common then actual cars and the music coming from each bar was mingling and creating a mess of sounds that gave Steve a headache.

When Natasha came back with a drink, she propped her self next to Steve and looked over at him with a grin.

"What's the matter Rodgers? Not a country music fan?"

Steve frowned and leaned closer, "What? I can't hear anything you say?"

Natasha shook her head. "Nevermind." She yelled over he music.

Steve frowned and bent down again, "I hate country music." He said in her ear.

Natasha laughed. "I can tell."

Steve furrowed his eyebrows. "Are you saying you like it?"

Natasha shook her head. "No. But I like drinking. And they have good drinks here."

Steve rolled his eyes but laughed.

Somehow, Natasha could turn a miserable situation into a great one just by being herself.

She never failed to make Steve smile even on the worst days.

It was the thing he loved most about her, now all he had to do was tell her how he felt.

Steve thought about it and decided that now was the perfect time. They were alone, having fun, and the other avengers couldn't interrupt the moment.

Natasha noticed that Steve was deep in thought and grabbed his hand again. "Hey, you okay? If you really hate this place then we can go back to the hotel."

Steve shook his head. "No it's okay. I was just thinking."

Natasha smirked. "That's dangerous...about what?"

Steve was about to tell her when a drunk man stumbled up to them, clearly interested in Natasha.

He stared at her chest and grinned. "Hey there. Why isn't a pretty girl like you dancing?"

Natasha rolled her eyes and Steve clenched his fist.

"Because my boyfriend and I are having a conversation that doesn't involve you." She said, wrapping an arm around Steve.

The man frowned and walked away.

Steve grinned. "Your boyfriend huh?"
Natasha removed her arm from around Steve and rolled her eyes again.

"Would you rather I went and danced with him"

Steve shook his head, missing her contact.

"I thought so, now what were you saying a minute ago?"

Steve shook his head. "Nevermind. This isn't the place."

Natasha's eyes narrowed and she became curious. Steve was never like this.

He seemed afraid of her.

Natasha racked her mind, trying to think of something she had done that would have been enough to push her closest friend away.

She had thought he was different. Thought that he wouldn't be the type to be scared away by who she once was.

Now she was worried that she had been wrong and that her heart would be broken once again.

Steve noticed her concern and grabbed one of her hands. "Natasha? You okay? You just got really pale."

Natasha let go of his hand and walked back towards the crowd. "I'm fine."

Steve followed as quickly as be could, not wanting to lose her.

"Natasha! Wait! What's the matter?"

They ended up in the hallway right next to the bathroom, where it was remotely quiet.

"Why are you acting like you're afraid of me?! I thought you were the one person who would never judge my past because you promised you wouldn't. So what changed?" Natasha snapped.

Steve frowned and he grabbed her hand again."Natasha I'm not afraid of you. I never have been and I never will be. I was afraid of how you would react when I told you what I was thinking."

Natasha's demeanor shifted and she frowned. "What were you thinking."

Steve paused, muffled sounds of country music sounded from outside the hallway and inside the bathroom, they could hear people chatting and laughing.

Steve searched Natasha's eyes for a hint on how she would respond.

"I was thinking about how much I love you. Like, really love you."

Natasha's eyes widened, "What do you mean you love me?"

Steve ran his hand through her hair delicately and he inched closer to her. "I mean that every moment I'm with you, I'm happy. And every time I see you, all I want to do is kiss you or hold you in your arms."

"Well in that case..." Natasha mumbled as she moved towards Steve and kissed him.

Natasha wrapped her arms around Steve's neck and put her legs around his waist.

Steve held her up against the wall and kissed her with as much passion as he could muster.

He pulled apart slowly and smiled. "Does that mean you feel the same?"

Natasha considered making a snarky response or witty comment, but when she saw the hope and fear mixing in his eyes, she decided to just be honest.

"Yes. I love you too Steve." She said, kissing him again.

Steve grinned. "You know, Nashville may not be my style, but spending time with you certainly is."

She laughed and kissed him again, ignoring the miserable music around them.

I hope you guys enjoyed this. It was kind of dumb but I wanted to write it.

A part two to the previous one shot will be up soon.
