New Year
New Year's Eve chapter with our favorite power couple.
Steve didn't completely understand the point of New Years.
He wasn't a fan of the huge parties everyone threw and he often found himself being the only sober one there.
Unfortunately, Tony had all but insisted that Steve go to his party that night.
Steve had been reluctant, but he supposed it wouldn't be too bad, the entire team was going so it wasn't as if he would have no one to talk to.
Or at least that's what he thought.
When he arrived, he had instantly looked around for someone to talk to.
Most of his teammates were already surrounded by people Steve didn't know, so he continued searching the room.
Eventually his eyes landed on Natasha and Clint, who were sitting at the bar together.
Steve walked over to them and ordered a drink, taking a seat on the other side of Natasha.
"Hey Rogers," Natasha said, giving him a small smile.
"Hey, how's the party going?" Steve asked.
Natasha shrugged, "Same as always. Tony's already drunk, Pepper's trying to control him, and Clint here is about three sips away from wasted."
Clint frowned and looked over at Steve, crinkling his face up, "I am not! I can hold my liquor like a champ."
Natasha rolled her eyes and and handed Clint a glass, which he instantly dropped. He laughed drunkenly, "That's not my liquor, so it doesn't count."
Natasha turned back to Steve and sighed, "You got any resolutions for the new year?" She asked, completely ignoring Clint's drunken mumbling.
Steve shook his head, "Not excactly. I don't bother pretending I'm going to change something drastically just because the date changed. What about you?"
Natasha shrugged, "I've got one."
Steve raised an eyebrow, "What's that?"
"There's this guy... he's been ignoring my advances for almost a year now and my resolution is to get him on a date with me," Natasha said, smirking at Steve.
Steve felt his heart sink, he wasn't sure why. He hadn't confessed his feeling to her, she didn't have to wait for him to buck up. In fact, it was quite obvious that she didn't feel the same.
Steve offered her a small smile through his pain and nodded, "Good luck."
Natasha's smirk faded and she frowned a bit but before she could say anything, Clint was tapping her shoulder.
"Natasha....Natasha...Natasha..." He slurred.
Natasha turned around with a glare, "What?"
"I know who it is," He said, laughing.
"What?" Natasha asked, frowning more.
Clint giggled and stood in between the two, placing his hands on their shoulders, "I know who Natasha loves."
Steve looked over at Natasha, who looked paler then before. Deciding to not let her secret be exposed by her drunken friend, despite how badly he wanted to know, Steve smiled at Clint, "You?"
Natasha rolled her eyes, "Nope."
Clint turned to Natasha, his face mirroring the betrayal he felt, "What?! You don't love me? Not even like a brother?"
Natasha shrugged, "Depends on the day."
Clint frowned, "That's just hurtful."
Steve laughed a bit as Natasha sighed, "Do you mind helping me get him up to his room? I think he's had enough partying for one night," Natasha asked.
Steve shook his head and wrapped his arm around on of Clint's shoulders while Natasha did the same to the other.
Their hands brushed and Steve felt chills run down his spine at the feeling.
"Where are we going?" Clint asked.
Natasha rolled her eyes, "Jupiter."
Clint laughed, "To get more stupider?"
"Sorry Clint, you've reached max stupidity," Natasha said.
Clint nodded, "Makes sense."
They got Clint up to his room and made sure he was passed out in his bed before heading back to the elevator.
"Thank you. Normally that takes twice as long," Natasha said as they walked back to the party.
Steve nodded, "No problem."
Tony suddenly walked up to the two, holding two flutes of champagne and grinning ear to ear.
"Natalie! Capsicle! Where have you been?" He yelled, spilling the drinks all over himself.
Natasha shook her head and sighed, "We've been here Tony."
Tony frowned, "Really? I didn't see you."
Natasha nodded, "Yes really."
Tony grinned, "Okay good. Well it's almost midnight so pucker up Rogers."
Steve frowned and raised an eyebrow, "Sorry?"
Natasha smirked at his reaction while Tony decided to further explain, "You have to kiss her at midnight."
Steve's eyes widened and he blushed, "What? Nat? Why? Not that that would be bad, I just don't understand..."
Natasha laughed and Tony gestured dramatically with his hands, spilling what was left of the drinks, "It's just the rule! Speaking of, I gotta go find Pepper."
Steve turned to Natasha with a red face, "What is he talking about?"
Natasha smirked, "Well, traditionally, you're supposed to kiss someone when the clock hits midnight...you know, to start the year off with a bang."
Steve looked down, his cheeks still on fire, "Oh, well, maybe you should go find that guy you want to ask out...this might be your opportunity."
Natasha shrugged, "I already did."
Steve's eyes widened and he looked up at Natasha, "What?"
People around them began counting down and Natasha smiled, "It's you Steve. I want to ask you out."
Steve's eyes lit up and he smiled, bending down to kiss Natasha sweetly as everyone around them cheered.
When they pulled apart, Natasha couldn't help but smile, "Is that a yes?"
Steve nodded, "It's an absolutely."
"Well then, look at me, not even a minute into this year and I've already done my resolution," Natasha grinned.
Steve laughed, "That's certainly cause for celebration."
Natasha smirked, "You read my mind."
Steve looked confused for a moment but soon realized what Natasha was doing as she took his hand and led his to the elevator, lust clouding the green irises of her eyes.
Once inside, she turned to him and smiled, "Happy New Year Steve."
Steve smiled back and brought his hand up to cup her face gently, "Happy New Year Nat."
The elevator doors opened and Natasha dragged Steve into her room, kissing him like it was the last and first time she'd ever do so.
That night, they certainly started the new year with a bang.
