Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday
Requested by Avengxrss_ Steve surprises Nat for her bday which I decided falls on Christmas because as it turns out, the name Natasha means born on Christmas.
Steve had wondered for a while what Natasha's birthday was. She had never mentioned it and even when he looked it up in her file, there was no date.
Feeling like a shitty boyfriend for not knowing what her birthday was, Steve decided to ask Clint in hopes that she might know.
"Her birthday? It's sometime in December but I don't think anyone knows what the exact day is. She's very unenthusiastic about birthdays. Especially her own." Clint said, shrugging, "You should ask Fury though. If anyone besides me knows it's him."
Steve nodded, "Alright thanks."
Clint nodded and Steve left to go find Fury.
He knocked on his office door and felt a little bit nervous. It was no secret that Natasha was practically a daughter to Nick, which didn't make Steve his favorite person. So it was a little nerve wracking to have to talk to him about anything that wasn't related to a mission.
"Come in."
Steve opened the door and nodded at the director, "Morning Sir."
Nick reclined in his chair and eyed Steve cautiously, "Morning Captain. How can I help you?"
"I actually just have a question if you have a moment."
Fury rolled his eyes, "Does it look like I'm busy Rogers? Spit it out."
Steve nodded, slightly embarrassed, "Right um, do you happen to know Natasha's birthday? She's never told me and I know it's sometime this month."
Fury shook his head, "There isn't a soul in this country that knows that besides her. Good luck with getting it out of her too. She's kept that a secret for nearly fifteen years.
Steve sighed, "Okay, thanks."
Nick nodded and Steve left the office and went to find Natasha, maybe she would tell him.
He walked up to their shared room and called out her name, "Nat?"
The bedroom door opened and Natasha walked out with a smile, tying her hair up into a ponytail, "Hey, I was just about to go for a run, wanna join me?"
Steve shrugged, he could ask her during the run, "Sure. Mind if I get changed really quick?"
Natasha shook her head and walked up to him, pecking his lips as a greeting, "Nope. I'll wait out here."
Steve smiled and quickly got changed into some sweats and a t-shirt and joined Natasha again.
"Ready?" She asked, smiling at him and zipping up her jacket.
Steve nodded and they walked down to the buildings entrance before taking off on their run around the compound.
"I have a question..." Steve said halfway through their run.
Natasha smiled, "Okay, shoot."
Steve looked over at her and smiled, "When's your birthday?"
"My birthday?" Natasha asked, seemingly a little less enthusiastic then she had been a few moments ago.
Steve nodded, "Yeah, I've just been wondering and I feel bad that I don't know it."
Natasha bit her lip, "It's actually on Christmas."
Steve's eyes widened, firstly because she had told him without any reservations and secondly because it was so close, "Really?"
Natasha nodded, "I'm surprised no ones figured it out by now. My name means born on Christmas day."
Steve laughed, "Does it really?"
Laughing with him, Natasha shrugged, "Yeah, but I'd prefer if this stays between us. Christmas is already busy enough, and I hate celebrating my birthday."
Steve held back a frown and slowed down, coming to a stop in front of the compound once they arrived, "You sure?"
Natasha nodded and gave him a reassuring smile, "Yeah."
Steve sighed but nodded, if she trusted him enough to tell him then he sure as hell wasn't about to betray her wishes.
But that didn't mean he couldn't do something special for her.
In the next few days, Steve put together a small surprise for Natasha that he would show her after they celebrated Christmas.
When they woke up Christmas morning, Steve turned to the sleeping redhead in his arms and smiled, waking her up with a trail of kisses from her neck to her lips.
Natasha smiled and turned around so she could face Steve, "Good morning."
Steve smiled, "Happy Birthday...and Merry Christmas."
Natasha rolled her eyes but he noticed that her cheeks reddened a bit and she was trying to hide a smile, "Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too."
Steve kissed her again and reached down to hold her hand in his, "You hungry?"
Natasha smirked, "For you."
Steve blushed and kissed Natasha again before slowly sliding out of the bed with her in his arms.
She laughed and gently hit his chest, "What are you doing?"
Steve grinned, "You might not be hungry but I am."
Natasha rolled her eyes, "Fine, but you owe me."
Steve laughed, "Understood."
Natasha sat down on the counter and watched as Steve made them both waffles.
"What time are we supposed to meet everyone for gifts?" Natasha asked.
"Well Clint isn't getting here until eleven and Tony said he'll be here around the same time. So we probably need to be down there at ten to get ready for the kids."
Natasha nodded and hopped down from the counter, coming behind Steve and kissing his bare shoulder, "It's only seven now...so we should have plenty of time for breakfast and dessert."
Steve blushed and looked over his shoulder at Natasha who was smirking, "You're making it very difficult for me to not skip straight breakfast."
Natasha grinned, "You certainly won't hear any complaints from me."
Steve turned off the stove and turned to Natasha with a lustful gaze. He lifted her up again and captured her lips in a heated kiss as he carried her back into their bedroom.
--------------
Once Natasha and Steve had finished....eating breakfast, they gathered the gifts they bought for the avengers and their children and brought them downstairs.
Everyone arrived a little while later and they all exchanged gifts.
By noon, the kids were all running around with their new presents and the adults were sitting on the couch, throughly exhausted even if it was only halfway through the afternoon.
After eating a very early dinner with the team, Steve and Natasha went back to their floor so that they could exchange their own gifts.
"Well that was fun," Natasha said, smirking at Steve and wrapping her arms around his neck as the entered their floor.
"Not as fun as spending time with you," Steve said, leaning down to kiss her.
Natasha laughed, "That was so cheesy."
Steve laughed too, "Sorry, but I mean it."
"I know, that's why I tolerate it," Natasha teased.
Steve led Natasha to the couch and handed her a few gifts while she did the same for her.
Steve had gotten Natasha new pointe shoes, a painting of the two of them done by him, and a few other small things she had pointed out in the months prior to Christmas.
Natasha had gotten him a new art set, a record player, and tons of new clothes that she thought he would look great in.
Once they had exchanged all their gifts, Steve decided to show her his surprise.
"I have one more thing for you Nat," He said, taking her hand and pulling her off the couch and towards the door.
"What? You've already given me enough Steve."
Steve shook his head, "Those were your Christmas presents, this is for your birthday."
Natasha sighed, "I thought you agreed not to do anything for my birthday."
Steve shook his head, "I agreed not to tell anyone."
Natasha sighed again but really could be even a little bit mad at Steve as he led her to the roof of the compound and she saw the makeshift dancefloor he had made for them.
There was a stereo playing soft fifties music on a table, surrounded by candles and fairy lights along with a thin wooden platform built on top of the concrete that was also surrounded with lights that had been strung up all over the roof.
"What's all this?" She asked.
Steve smiled sheepishly, "Well I know you're a pretty good dancer and I actually don't know how to dance...I figured you could show me a few things."
Natasha smiled and took Steve's hand in her as they walked over to the dancefloor.
She placed Steve's hand on her waist and held his other one at the level of their eyes as she began to slowly dance with him.
"Just relax, follow my lead," Natasha whispered, seeing how hard he was trying to learn.
Steve relaxed a bit and got a bit better.
Natasha smiled, "There you go. You're getting the hang of this."
Steve laughed, "It doesn't feel like I am."
Natasha laughed as well and moved so that her head was resting on Steve's chest as they danced.
"Thank you for all of this Steve. You're the only person I would want to do this with," Natasha admitted.
Steve smiled, "Of course...I feel the same way. I can't imagine doing anything with anyone that isn't you. You're my entire world Nat."
Natasha smiled up at Steve, "I love you."
Steve swallowed his sudden nerves, "I love you too."
Natasha's eyes widened and her mouth fell open as Steve dropped down to one knee, pulling out a ring from his coat pocket.
"I know that we've only been dating for less then a year Nat, but I've loved you for so much longer then that. Every day I spend with you reminds me that you are the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, and if you'll let me, I would like to make that official. So, Natasha Romanoff, will you marry me?" Steve asked, looking up at her with hopeful eyes.
Natasha laughed with tears in her eyes and nodded, "Yes! God yes. I love you so much."
Steve laughed in relief and slipped the ring on her finger before standing up and kissing her passionately.
"Happy birthday Nat." He whispered once they pulled apart.
Natasha rolled her eyes but laughed and placed another peck on his cheek "Merry Christmas Steve."
