Lazy Morning
Requested by Esesmute. Natasha and Steve have a child and he wakes them up.
"Momma! Wake up!" James said, crawling in between Steve and Natasha.
Steve groaned and turned on his side, facing away from the bright light now seeping into the bedroom.
Natasha stirred and pulled the covers over her head, "Wake your dad up, he likes mornings." She muttered.
Steve shook his head, "He asked for you."
James smiled and bounced up and down, "Both of you wake up! It's breakfast time!"
Natasha let out a groan and Steve smiled to himself before lifting James off Natasha, "We'll be downstairs in a second. Why don't you go play with Dodger?" Steve suggested to his five year old.
"Okay!" James said, jumping off their bed and running back downstairs.
Natasha sighed and pulled the covers down, revealing her face to Steve.
Steve smirked at her and propped himself up on his elbow, "Good morning."
She glared at him, her eyes still halfway closed, "You seem awfully chipper for a guy who got woken up early on a Sunday morning."
Steve smiled, "Yeah, well, waking up early isn't so bad when I get to wake up next to you."
Natasha rolled her eyes, letting out a laugh as she did so, "Oh my god Rogers. Could you be any cheesier?"
"Probably." Steve said, flashing her another grin as he wrapped an arm around her waist and bent down to capture her lips.
She sighed into the kiss, finding it to be a much better wakeup call then her five year old jumping up and down on her like she was a bouncy house.
Pulling away, Steve moved out of the bed and sighed, "I'll go start breakfast. Don't take too long to get out of bed, I might send James back up here."
Natasha smiled and stood up, giving Steve one more short kiss before heading into the bathroom to get ready.
After brushing out her hair and putting one of Steve's hoodies on and a pair of leggings, Natasha headed downstairs.
"Looks like sleeping beauty is finally up." Steve said to James as Natasha entered the kitchen.
James smiled and jumped up into Natasha's arms, "Dad's making waffles!"
Natasha smiled, "Is he?"
James nodded and giggled, leaning to whisper in Natasha's ear, "He already burnt two of them but he told me not to tell you."
Natasha laughed and looked up at Steve with a smirk, "I thought I smelt something burning."
Steve pretended to be offended as he looked over at James, "I thought that was our secret!"
James giggled and shook his head, hiding behind Natasha's leg as Steve crept towards him.
Natasha smiled down at James and lifted him up again, playfully protecting him from Steve.
Steve shook his head, "You think that's gonna stop me?"
Natasha raised an eyebrow and let out a help as Steve lifted her and James up bridal style.
"Put me down!" Natasha yelled, slapping Steve's arm.
James giggled and jumped down from Natasha's arms.
"James, what do you think? Should I put her down?" Steve asked James with a grin.
James looked at Natasha, mischief gleaming in his bright blue eyes as he shook his head, laughing.
Natasha's eyes widened and from frowned at James, "Traitor." She joked.
"Your waffles are burning again Steve." Natasha said, attempting again to get Steve to put her down.
Steve mumbled a curse and set Natasha down before running into the kitchen again.
Eventually, they were able to sit down and eat Steve's breakfast as a family.
"Hey James, do you wanna go play with Morgan today? Aunt Pepper invited us over for dinner." Natasha said, looking up at Steve to make sure he had no objections.
"Yeah!" James said, before going into a rant about seeing Morgan that neither parent could totally comprehend.
When he lost interest in his breakfast and ran off to play with his toys, Natasha started doing dishes while Steve distracted her.
He stood behind her at the sink and rested his chin on her shoulder, "Maybe we should ask Tony and Pepper to watch James one night this week so we can go out...or stay in." Steve suggested, smirking as he placed a kiss on Natasha's neck.
"Someone is impatient. We just had a night to ourselves Friday." Natasha said with a laugh.
"I always want a night alone with you." Steve said, spinning Natasha around.
Natasha rolled her eyes, "You can ask if they'll watch him Thursday. If not then you may have to wait another week Rogers."
Steve bent down and kissed Natasha slowly, "It may kill me, but I'll try."
Natasha rolled her eyes and stepped away from Steve, "You are distracting me, go outside with James or something."
Steve laughed but complied, "Okay."
Natasha sighed in contentment and looked out the window, watching as Steve as James ran around in their large yard that had a white picket fence surrounding it.
As she watched them she couldn't help but smile, waking up early was never fun, but if it meant she got to have more mornings like this then she was all for it.
