I would now

My idea of what would happen if Sam didn't interrupt Natasha and Steve while they were talking at his house. Can be a part 2 for "Debris"

It had taken nearly all night for Natasha and Steve to make it to Sam's house and by the time they did it was almost 3 am.

Natasha was still skeptical about trusting him, sure he seemed like a nice guy but lately everyone had been turning against them, making her feel like she shouldn't trust anyone.

"Are you sure about this Steve?" Natasha asked again as they approached his block.

Steve sighed, "No, but he's the best chance we've got."

Natasha nodded and followed Steve up to Sam's doorstep. Steve took a deep breath and knocked, already feeling guilty about how early they were waking him up.

Sam answered a few minutes later with a confused look on his face, "Hey man."

Steve sighed, "I'm sorry about this, we need a place to lay low."

Natasha looked up from the ground, "Everyone we know is trying to kill us."

Sam opened the door wider and stepped aside, "Not everyone."

Natasha and Steve quickly ducked into his house as Sam checked to make sure no one had followed them, closing the door and locking it behind them.

"I've only got one guest bedroom, it's straight down the hall. There's two beds and a bathroom with a shower. You can freshen up in there if you want." Sam said.

Steve nodded, "Thank you."

"Towels are in the closet. I'll look around and see if I can find something for y'all to where. Then I'm going back to sleep. Wake me up if you need me." Sam said.

Natasha thanked him as well and her and Steve walked to the guest bedroom at the end of the hall.

"You can shower first if you want. I'm gonna go help Sam." Steve offered, setting his shield down in the room.

Natasha nodded and stepped into the bathroom.

Steve walked back out to where Sam was and sighed, "Thank you again Sam. If I wasn't so desperate I never would have done this."

Sam shook his head, "Don't worry about it man. It's not everyday I can help Captain America and Black Widow out."

Steve nodded, "We appreciate it, and we will try and get out of here as soon as possible. Once we have a plan we'll be on our way."

"Don't rush. You guys should get some rest first. There's some food in the fridge, help yourselves and do whatever you need to do."

"Thank you Sam. Really, it means a lot."

Sam nodded and grinned, "So is there anything going on between you two?"

Steve blushed, "No, why would you say that?"

"No reason, you two just seem to be awfully close. I'm pretty intuitive about this stuff too," Sam said, patting Steve's shoulder, "If you haven't already, you should go for it."

Steve sighed, he really was a terrible liar, "Maybe when this is all over."

Sam shrugged, "Sure, but remember there's no time like the present. I'm going back to sleep now. I found some of my ex girlfriends stuff in my room, you can see if Natasha needs any of it. And I put some fresh clothes for you on top."

Steve accepted the box of stuff and thanked Sam again.

Sam nodded and walked back into his room, "Help yourself to whatever's in the fridge," he called out again.

Steve walked back into the guest bedroom and saw Natasha in nothing but her black tank top and jeans, drying her hair while staring into space.

He set the box down, "Sam gathered some of his ex girlfriends stuff for you if you want any of it."

Natasha nodded, "Thanks."

Steve nodded and walked into the bathroom, he pulled off his dirty jacket and shirt, leaving him in his white tank top.

He washed his hands and looked back into the mirror, noticing that Natasha was now just sitting there with the towel in her hand.

He walked out of the bathroom and she quickly resumed her task, "You okay?" He asked.

Natasha looked up at him for a moment, "Yeah."

Steve sighed and tossed the towel back onto the counter, walking to sit in front of her.

He leaned forward and she stopped drying her hair, eyeing him carefully as if to try and read his actions.

"What's going on?" Steve asked quietly, knowing Natasha wasn't excactly someone who opened up.

Natasha scanned his features for a second and then spoke, "When I first joined Shield, I thought I was going straight," She paused and looked away with a sigh looking back at him she frowned slightly, "but I guess I just traded in KGB for Hydra."

She shook her head, "I thought I knew whose lies I was telling...guess I can't the difference anymore."

"There's a chance you might be in the wrong buissness," Steve said, giving her a small smirk.

Natasha looked up at him and huffed out a small laugh, slightly shocked at the use of her own words against her.

He smirked again and Natasha studied his face, "I owe you."

Steve shook his head, "No. It's okay."

Natasha frowned, "If it was the other way around, and it was down to me to save your life - and you be honest with me - would you trust me to do it?"

Steve didn't hesitate, he could see how afraid she was to ask the question and he didn't want to give her any reason to doubt his response, "I would now."

Natasha looked at him almost in disbelief. The genuine shock written on her face made Steve's heart ache knowing that she didn't have many people who trusted her like she did them.

"And I'm always honest," Steve added with a small smirk.

Natasha frowned again, "Why?"

Steve's brows furrowed, "What do you mean?"

"Why do you trust me? Fury, he told you not to trust anyone."

Steve sighed, "I don't know, I guess I was just trusting my gut. And I knew Fury trusted you, so I figured it was a safe bet."

Natasha shook her head, "You're wrong about one thing Steve. Nick didn't trust me. If he did, he would have told me about the drive. He would have told me Shield had been compromised."

Steve sighed, that's what was really the problem. He could see the hurt in her eyes now, she had trusted Fury blindly for years now and he didn't want trust her in return, "He should have."

Natasha forced a dry chuckle, "One would think. Can't really blame him though, an ex-assassin with no moral compass who blindly tells lies for whoever's in charge. I'd be the perfect double agent."

Steve frowned, "Except you do have a moral compass, and you don't blindly follow orders from authority. If any of that was true you wouldn't be here right now."

Natasha didn't respond to Steve. It was obvious that his words were causing an internal battle to rage inside her head.

"You know why I trust you so much Nat?" Steve started, startling her by placing his hand above hers, "Because everytime I'm around you, you do the right thing. You're so dedicated to fixing your past mistakes that you'll do whatever it takes to make sure you don't make anymore choices you may regret."

Natasha looked up at Steve and shook her head with a small laugh, "You're optimistic attitude on everything is infuriating."

Steve grinned, "Sorry, force of habit."

Natasha shook her head, to hell with caution. There was a chance they would die that week anyways, "You said you trust me right?"

Steve nodded, "I do."

"Good," Natasha whispered, leaning forward slowly to kiss Steve, feeling her heart rate spike when he began to kiss back.

Natasha wrapped her arms loosely around his neck and sighed into the kiss, she needed this. She needed to feel loved.

Steve eventually pulled away and looked at her in shock, "Not that I'm complaining but what was that for?"

Natasha shook her head, "For being the one person who trust me as much as I trust them....and because you look hot as hell right now."

Steve smirked while his cheeks reddened, "A building just fell on top of us."

Natasha shrugged, "You still look good."

Steve laughed and considered going in for another kiss but hesitated, he wasn't sure that it wasn't just something Natasha did on a whim. He had no idea if it meant anything to her.

Luckily for him, Natasha made the move for him, grabbing his chin and pulling him back to her lips.

She kissed him so passionately that Steve thought he might pass out.

When she pulled away, Natasha couldn't help but laugh at his face, "You alright Rogers?"

Steve nodded, "Better then ever."

Natasha grinned and pulled Steve down onto the bed, "What's our plan?"

"Sam said we can stay as long as we like, so I figured we could sleep some tonight and make a plan in the morning."

Natasha nodded, "Sounds good."

Natasha curled up besides Steve in the small bed after kicking off her shoes.

"Do you want me to take the couch?" Steve offered.

"Are you kidding me? We just made out and you think I'm going to make you sleep on the couch?"

Steve blushed, "Well, I wasn't sure - um - if it actually meant something for you."

Natasha smiled, "It did, but I figured we should wait until after this mess is over to talk about it...that alright with you soldier?"

Steve sighed in relief and nodded, "Yeah. Just don't leave me hanging and disappear when this is over."

Natasha laughed, "I won't."

She gently kissed Steve again and pulled away slowly, holding his hand gently, "Night Steve."

Steve smiled, "Goodnight Nat."

Hey guys. I hope you all enjoyed this. Like I said in the other chapter, this can be a part 2 to Debris.

If a part 3 is requested I will do it but it's going to be another 30 chapters or so, so keep that in mind if you request it.

Other than that, please comment and vote if you enjoyed!
