Dance With Me
Natasha teaches Steve how to dance one night after a mission in his apartment on his record player.
The song they are dancing to is the video above. It's called, "I've never been in love before" by Chet Baker.
Steve had spent most of his day training. His body was sore and when he got back to his small apartment, all he really wanted to do was relax.
So he had turned on his record player, picking out an old album from his childhood and sat down in his chair reading a book.
It wasn't until a knock at his door came through the room that he got up, and even then, he considered pretending he wasn't home.
Steve sighed and set his book on the table, walking to the door with the intentions of sending whoever it was away.
He opened the door and couldn't help but smile when he saw Natasha standing on the other side of it, her hands awkwardly figetting at her side as she stood there with a sheepish smile.
"Hey," He said, opening the door wider, his own way of inviting her in.
Natasha stepped in and smiled at him looking more unsure of herself then he had ever seen, "Hey...sorry to drop in out of the blue, I was just passing by."
Steve shook his head, "It's no problem, you wanna come in and have a drink?"
Natasha nodded, "Sure. You sure I'm not inturrupting anything?"
Steve shook his head, "I was just reading. This will make my night much more interesting."
Natasha smiled softly and followed Steve into his kitchen. He poured them both a drink and stood across from her as she sipped from her drink slowly.
"How'd your mission go?" Steve asked. She had gotten back from a mission that morning and hadn't seen her since then.
Natasha shrugged, "As well as expected. We got the information so I can't complain."
Steve took a sip of his drink and nodded, "You can always complain to me."
Natasha smirked a little, "Don't worry Rogers, I won't burden you with my problems tonight. We just had to deal with a few assholes."
Steve nodded and offered her another drink, which she downed quickly.
"You have a strange taste in music Rogers."
Steve frowned, "Strange? I think you mean classic."
Natasha shrugged and walked over to the record player, bending down to examine his record collection.
"Impressive. You've got quite the collection going," Natasha admitted, fingering through the records.
Steve nodded, "Thank you. I've been working on it for a while."
Natasha found one that she knew and picked it up, looking up at Steve hesitantly, "May I?"
Steve nodded, "Sure."
She stood up and put the record in, standing up and smiling, "You know how to dance Rogers?"
Steve shook his head, "No, never got the chance to learn how."
Natasha took the drink out of Steve's hand and set it besides her own, grabbing his hand and Lea him into an open space in his living room, "Well its never too late to learn."
Steve smiled and Natasha placed his hand on her shoulder, holding the other one at their sides, "Just follow my lead."
"Chet Baker?" Steve asked as Natasha and he began slowly dancing.
Natasha smirked and nodded.
Steve smiled, carefully watching his feet to make sure he didn't step on her.
Natasha's hand left his shoulder for a moment as she directed his chin upwards so he was looking at her, "Relax. Don't overthink it."
Steve nodded and did as she said, letting himself get lost in her eyes as they danced slowly in his living room.
Natasha smiled up at him, "You're getting the hang of this."
"I've got a good teacher I suppose."
Natasha grinned and let go of Steve, twirling gracefully before grabbing his hand and resuming their amateur waltz.
Her head moved to rest on his chest and his heart fluttered.
The music had changed by now but they didn't notice, they were in their own bubble. Nothing could have disturbed them in that moment.
Natasha listened to Steve's heartbeat and felt calmed by it. His presence alone normally calmed her, but this was something more.
She had never trusted anyone as much as she trusted Steve.
"The reason I came here tonight wasn't just because I was passing by Steve," Natasha said as they continued to sway back and forth.
Steve nodded, "I figured."
Natasha sighed, "On my mission today. The Hydra operative got in my head. He told me that what I was doing was pointless because no one could ever love someone with a past as bloody as mine. I here because you're the only person I know who makes me feel like maybe he's wrong. Like maybe I could be loved."
Steve frowned at the pain in her voice and pulled away so he could lift her chin and look into her eyes, "You are loved Natasha. I love you."
Natasha searched Steve's eyes for a moment but found nothing but admiration and love.
"I love you too," She whispered, the words feeling foreign but also comfortable because she meant them. She loved Steve more then anything.
Steve smiled and brushed a piece of hair behind her ear, "Can I kiss you?" He asked hesitantly.
Natasha managed a small laugh, "Did you really have to ask?"
Steve smiled and bent down to kiss her softly, the music still filling the room around them.
Natasha melted into the kiss and wrapped her arms around Steve's neck.
She had never felt more at ease then she did then.
Steve pulled away and Natasha already found herself kissing the feeling of his lips against hers.
"Can you stay here tonight?" Steve asked.
Natasha nodded and Steve smiled and kissed her again, "I love you so much Nat."
Natasha smiled and took his hand, leading him into his bedroom and kissing him again, this time with more fire.
"Prove it," She challenged with a smirk.
