Roman was insecure, that much wasn't new. He's always had insecurities about himself. He need validation from others to know he wasn't just a screw up.
He did everything he possibly could to impress the others. Even going as far as not telling jokes or using nicknames. He complimented instead of insulted and thought of more logical ideas and dreams instead of fantasies.
"I see you got your list done, good job Roman," Logan gave a short nod to Roman as the prince gave him the list at the monthly meeting. The prince beamed with a bit of pride. "I especially love the court room idea."
"I-I figured you'd like it Spe—Logan." Roman quickly corrected himself before he could upset anyone with nicknames. "I was thinking that you could maybe be the lawyer o-or the judge, a-and Virgil and Patton could be jury duty while Deceit is the defendant or prosecutor?"
"Wouldn't you want to be the judge? They're high in power and you are the self proclaimed prince," Virgil spoke up, causing Roman's smile to fade. He noticed how Roman shifted nervously.
"I-I just figured you guys would like a chance to shine.." Roman replied quietly, "sorry.."
"And you didn't include yourself into the scenario. Kiddo, are you alright?" Patton asked concerned. Roman nodded quickly, just wanting to please them. Patton hugged him anyways, causing the prince to tense up.
I don't deserve a hug.. Roman thought but let the puffball hug him anyways. He didn't realize tears were falling until a gentle hand wiped them away. "I-I'm sorry.." he choked out.
"Hey, it's ok.." Patton murmured, tightening the hug a little. Roman shook his head and wiggled out of the hug before standing up.
"I-Im going to go see if Joan has any ideas they want to give.." Roman quickly left. He appeared in Thomas's living room and put on a false prideful smile. "Hey Joan! I was wondering if you would like to add to the list of ideas?"
"I'm sure I can think of some. Wanna join Thomas and I? We're watching Frozen." Joan offers, patting the seat next to them. They frowned a little when Roman declined the offer and sank out.
Roman hated upsetting people. He wanted to make them proud of him. He was going to do his best to get everyone happy and proud!
Even if it kills him.
