Virgil frowned a little when Roman respawned at the last save point. "Roman, you've tried this fight eight times, give up already!"

Roman coughed up blood as he leaned against Virgil. "I'm not... I-I'm not giving up until you're free.." He murmured in response. He couldn't see anything but he didn't need to. Virgil was his eyes and his heart will always choose spare. 

They entered the throne room once more, the snake-like flower on Roman's shoulder hissed at the king. Roman entered the fight once more, getting weaker by the minute.

But finally, after multiple deaths, Virgil had been able to defeat King Patton and they were almost free. However, Roman could barely breathe. The flowers had taken over his body and he struggled to do anything. Virgil caught him before he fell, holding the prince-like male in his arms.

"Roman! Roman, please stay awake!" Virgil shouted, tears filling his eyes as Roman's soul exited his body. The bright red soul was shaking and he knew he had to put it back in roman's body to save him. 

"Virge..? Can you... smile for me..?" Roman asked, wheezing his words out. Virgil forced himself to smile as he held his dying friend. Roman reached up blindly and held Virgil's cheek. "Virgil, I.."

Virgil cried harder as the male in his arms went limp and the soul shattered. "Roman! Don't leave me! We were supposed to go up there together!" He shouted in the darkness of the barrier. 

The snake-like flower, Janus, appeared with the other souls and the barrier broke like magic. However, neither Janus nor Virgil cared that they were now free. 

They just wanted Roman back.
