Chapter 27
*~*Two Years Later*~*
"Damn, woman! Hurt me hurt me!" David playfully grabbed his chest upon seeing his wife, her full figure encased in a tight and low-cut silver sparkle dress. She showed him the side slit that stopped at the top of her thigh, matching stilettos topping off the look.
"You don't think it's too much?" She asked nonchalantly, getting a final spritz of hairspray and perfume from the stylist. Her heavily-lined sultry eyes glowed a soft chocolate brown, roaming up and down her husband's body.
She moved the dress only slightly so he could see she wasn't wearing panties. David smiled and pulled her into his arms, dropping his lips to hers. The stylist blushed and averted her eyes, giving the couple as much privacy as possible.
"It's perfect, baby," he whispered against her lips. She chuckled and rubbed her nose to his, taking his bottom lip between hers and nibbling playfully.
It had been three weeks since they'd received David's most recent tests from the doctor showing his cancer had gone into remission. That night had been the most wonderful and happiest time the family could remember in many years, drinking and celebrating with a large house party.
Tonight, however, it was just David and Leesha in New York preparing to attend the Tony Awards. David's newest musical, Diana, had been nominated for ten awards including Best Musical. No kids...no grandkids. Just the two of them.
A knock came at the apartment door and David reluctantly parted from his wife, watching her saunter back into the master bathroom.
"Hey, what's good, boss man?" Mike greeted cheerily, taking in David's tuxedo complete with a black bow tie and shiny dress shoes. "Lookin' sharp!"
"The wife's almost ready. Second Tony Awards, man. Never thought I'd live to see the day," David replied, pouring himself a glass of whiskey.
"Is that the new wig?" David nodded and showed Mike his bald head underneath. "Whoever made it did good."
"They'd better," he laughed, "Cost a couple grand."
The stylist came out with Leesha who twirled to show off the finished product. Mike whistled. "Looking beautiful, Mrs B."
"Thank you, Mike," she said with a smile and greeted with a hug. "I'm so happy you're able to join us tonight."
"Just a little eyeliner for you, Dave, and we'll be done," the stylist piped up, holding up the eyeliner pencil. David swore to himself but looked up at her with his eyes wide. As much as he detested the need for makeup, their stylist had done a great job giving some life and color back into his complexion. "Perfect," she declared.
Leesha grabbed her silver handbag from the coffee table and entwined her arm with David's. Walking down the hall and out to the car, they looked more and more like the beautiful power couple others were envious of. A strong and handsome rockstar with his gorgeous and business savvy wife on his arm.
"I didn't think we'd be doing this again," she commented once they were safely in the car. "You know...the whole red carpet thing..."
"And yet here we are, babygirl," David smiled, peering through the tinted windows as they rode further down Broadway. The tall skyscrapers lit up the night like twinkling beacons. It took less than fifteen minutes to arrive and, as expected, photographers and journalists were at the ready.
David stepped out first and held out his hand to his wife. Cameras flashed in their direction, everyone knowing Leesha just as much as David. They smiled and waved, posed for photos and answered questions. Some of the gathered fans even asked for Leesha's autograph and a selfie, which she obliged kindly just as her husband did.
Journalists were all asking about David's health and his thoughts of having another musical on Broadway nominated. They ignored family-related questions and moved into the photographer area, posing in front of the Tony Award background.
David caught Joe running up to him during one shot and the photographer caught the two men hugging joyfully. They were ushered through the lobby and found their seats, offered glasses of wine, taking in the celebration and talking to everyone who stopped to say hello.
Leesha curled into David as the house lights dimmed and the ceremony began. One by one, awards were given to actresses and actors, orchestrators and directors. David perked up when the announcers for Best Lyrics called for the nominees. His photo and video popped up during the production of Diana and he squeezed her hand.
"Good luck," she whispered and he gave her a quick peck on the cheek.
"I couldn't have done it without you," he said, thinking back to all they'd been through together. He'd written the words for that song many decades ago but had been unable to finish the last few lines, until that unforgettable night with his wife.
For a brief moment, he wondered if it was all worth it. After a couple of songs from the shows he couldn't care less about won, the announcer's voice started for Best Original Music and Lyrics.
"Let's see if this is your night, baby," she whispered.
"And the winner for Best Lyrics is...David Bryan and Joe Depietro for Diana!"
The two jumped up and kissed each other, Leesha clapping and crying as David hobbled up to the stage with Joe. They were handed their awards and Dave wiped away the tears that flowed down his cheeks.
"Thank you," he sniffled into the microphone. "After all the turmoil of the past decade, I couldn't have pushed through it without the love and support of my beautiful and amazing wife Leesha...my six beautiful children: Colton, Gabby, Lily, Ethan, Ellie and Sam...You've all made me the proudest Father. My publisher, John Titta, and of course my writing partner, collaborator and best friend Joe DePietro with his passion for writing and storytelling."
The audience was definitely feeling the love in the air and wrapped it around themselves like a blanket. Jeanna de Waal and Roe Hartrampf walked away with the Best Leading Female and Best Leading Man awards. David won Best Original Score and Best Orchestration with Joe and the Lead Orchestrator.
The final award of the night was also the biggest. Best Musical. Everyone held their breath as the nominees were shown on the big screen.
"And the Best Musical award goes to...Diana, A True Musical Story!"
The theater erupted with cries of joy and applause. David was helped to the podium, his eyes fixed on Joe as the man crushed him once again in a hug.
*~*Later that Night*~*
While David was getting undressed back at the apartment, Leesha stepped out onto the balcony. The cool night air caressed her skin and she let the towel slide from her body. The only illumination came from the cityscape below and the dim blue hot tub lights as she powered on the jets.
She leant her head against the edge railing, watching as a shooting star raced across the hazy night sky. Beside it, another streaked across the sky. And then another. The annual August meteor shower made for a perfect end to a memorable evening.
The odd LED lights illuminated some dots of movement while some stayed darkened, perhaps in hopes of some privacy.
Lifting her head, she peered over the balustrade at her bustling city below. The trailing lights of a departing jet contrasted against the bursting display, as if the plane itself had ventured too close to the colorful fall.
It felt like only yesterday she had traveled through her own personal storm from Kentucky all the way to New Jersey...and now reveling in the busiest city in America. She had accomplished so much. Co-Owner of a booming business with her best friend, married to a fine rockstar that was once out of her reach and created a beautiful family with him.
She shivered and slipped under the hot water, a smirk came to her lips as she shifted in the whirlpool and briefly closed her eyes. It had felt amazing getting back out with her husband, feeling his arm wrap possessively around her waist and guide her along the red carpet.
The two of them smiling for the flashing cameras and answering weird interview questions. Nothing could have dragged her away from that moment even if she had been given the choice to walk away.
Her fingers swirled through the hot tub jets, the water coming up just past her shoulders. She turned at the sound of the sliding glass door and there he was...naked as the day he was born. His arms folded against his chest as he smiled that award show smile.
The girls at the tanning salon had done amazing in helping David's skin glow once more to a healthy complexion. Even though he was still a skinny 145lbs, she was sure nobody would fault him for it. Slender suited him after all. He was thankfully defying the odds and nearing full strength again.
Leaning her head back onto the edge, she kept her eyes fixed on him as he stepped out onto the balcony. David paused to look over the city. His bright eyes suddenly darting to something that caught his attention, a small smirk crossing his lips.
"Come to finally join me, Mr. Broadway Rockstar?" The corner of her own lips twitched up in response as she pushed her breasts up and out of the water, her nipples hardening. "You like the view?"
"It's a damn good view from here, baby," he chuckled and slowly climbed into the tub with Leesha's helpful hand.
"I thought your hair wasn't supposed to get wet?"
"Baby, I've got three more at home. Just wanna feel like my old self tonight," he replied, sliding over to her and crooked a finger under chin.
Pressing his lips against hers, she couldn't help but smile. The kiss grew deeper and steam rose up around the pair as their hands began wandering across the other's body. Her hand fell between his legs and gave his flaccid manhood a playful squeeze. It twitched in response underneath the hot water.
"He didn't take long to wake up," she giggled, grinning from ear to ear.
"Hmmm..." David moaned against the side of her neck, "I may have taken a little...pick me up..." Letting his hands wander across her bare back, he grabbed a handful of flesh and squeezed. A deep whine pushed out from between Leesha's lips.
"Did you now? It's been...awhile..."
"Over a year...I know," he sighed. "Since we were gonna be alone, I wanted to make love to my beautiful wife."
Letting out a weak laugh, she drew her legs up and hoisted herself over his lap, knees on either side of his hips. Her legs hugged tightly against his sides as she ground her hips softly against him. Every slow carnal movement brought a little more vivid color to David's face.
His hands clamped down around her backside, drawing her even closer against him as his lips worked across her soft sweet skin. She wanted this night to go on forever and at the same time she wished they never had to move from this spot.
It was the first time in so long that they were able to enjoy each other without worry and be intimate again. She knew it wouldn't last, but by the Gods let her savor every moment for as long as she could.
Tomorrow was another fight, another struggle to survive, but tonight was for loving and being loved.
"I love you," she groaned, gripping her hands in his hair. Though it was a wig, it brought back a flood of memories. The two of them tangled in each other, their breath mingling and soft moans reverberating through the night. "You know that...right?" Her hips crashed against his own as a long moan escaped her lips.
"I love you too, babygirl. Always have....always will..."
Letting out a cry as his cock massaged her clit, she arched her back as the heat between them became too much to handle. David guided himself inside her and tilted her head back with his palm against her back. She sank down and buried him to the hilt.
His lips fell along her neck, nibbling and suckling. It made her insides burn up with passion as he let out hungry growls from his chest with every thrust. Hot water swirled around their bodies as the moon ascended into the night sky.
"Fuuck...baby...harder..." she managed to gurgle through the messy kissing, loving and animalistic noises. His hands were tightly gripped around her supple thighs and the pace he set made the water splash all over the both of them.
"Fuck...ride me, babygirl," David groaned.
Her back arched and sweat started to bead itself on her cheek. The fire between her legs spread throughout her entire body. She dug her fingers into his shoulders, desperate for relief from the ecstasy mounting inside of her.
"Oooooh...David! Fuck me!" His hands gripped her ass as he forced himself deeper inside of her, hitting all the right spots.
Her legs trembled and her body writhed as she came. She could feel the muscles in his arms and chest tense up as a low grunt pushed past his lips. The water started to slop over the edge of the tub, splashing over the railing.
She could feel her orgasm coming, and it was going to be a big one. She grit her teeth and bit into his shoulder as the pleasure overtook her, riding her stallion and taking him into oblivion with her. Her loud moans echoed into the night.
David's arms wrapped around her tightly as his cock throbbed inside of her, filling her up with his hot seed and growled, "Oohh shiiit..."
She collapsed on him, panting. He kissed her forehead and stroked her damp hair. "I love you, babygirl," he breathed into her ear.
"I love you too," she whispered back.
Together they floated in the hot tub, basking in the afterglow of their lovemaking. The tub lights illuminated their bodies and reflected off David's eyes, causing them to glow brightly. They were together, and that's all that mattered.
"What would you think about going on one last vacation?" David asked, his fingers trailing along his wife's shoulder and steam spiraling up into the cooler air. "I mean...we got lucky with the remission but...just in case..."
"Don't say it," Leesha interrupted, pressing her hand to his lips. "But...yes to the vacation. Maybe a nice month in St Barth?"
"Perfect," David smiled, kissing her forehead. "Perfect."
