Old Friends, New Foes
As Kokichi panicked, wondering where the tall H/Cet could've gone, Shuichi slid down the hole slowly and pulled the couch above the hole to hide their tracks. Once the bluenet reached the bottom, he pulled out his phone and illuminated the area.
"Kokichi, it's okay I'm sure they just walked off on their own." Shuichi placed a hand on the small boy's back.
Kokichi grabbed the detective's hand and hugged his arm, "Maybe we can just leave them to die and we could cuddle right here." He smirked.
"W-What!? We have to find them Kokichi, they could be in danger!"
"Says the person who was 'sure they just walked off on their own.'" The grape teased.
Shuichi couldn't muster up the strength to explain what he meant, and decided to just walk down the dark corridor. Kokichi hugged the detective's arm with all his might, most likely leaving a couple of bruises with his surprisingly strong grip.
The detective shined the phone's flashlight around the corridor, making sure to investigate every inch of the corridor. Water dripped, and strange noises accompanied the duo on their adventure to find the other detective.
"They died didn't they?"
"Don't say stuff like that..." Their voices echoed off the wall.

"Hgnn...!" Y/N blinked open their eyes only to see a cement wall. With confusion flooding their mind they recalled what last happened to them and shivered at the thought.
"Do you want to die!?"
"Yes."
"Nagito, stop saying that. She'll actually kill you."
"As long as I'm a stepping stone for hope, I don't mind!"
The voices were quiet, then got louder and louder. Y/N looked around the room to find nothing to hide behind. Y/N stood up and braced themself for a fight.
Soon 3 people joined them in the cement room.
"Looks like they're awake." The girl said.
"What do you want from me?!" Y/N hissed.
"I think we deserve a 'thank you.'" One of the boys said.
Y/N brought up their fists and glared at all 3 of them, "I'm not thanking anyone until I get an explanation."
"Fair enough." The girl motioned for the detective to follow her. Still feeling skeptical, the H/Cet followed them slowly. Soon they reached a cozy room with bookshelves and a fireplace, the two boys branched off somewhere and the girl invited Y/N to sit down on the couch.
Y/N shook their head and leaned their back on a bookshelf, and raised an eyebrow at the girl. She sighed and started explaining, "My name is Maki Harukawa, famous assassin, known for-"
"-killing famous men and women around the globe, also known for being hired by the infamous yakuza lord Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, birthday February 2nd. You don't need to tell a detective that specializes in underground Mafia, Yakuza, criminal organizations, assassins and spies." Y/N smirked.
Maki's eyes widened, "Good to know I didn't save an imposter." Maki sighed in relief.
"Are *they* gone?" They whispered.
"Yeah, sorry about that, right now Kuzuryu thinks I'm kidnapping you."
"It's fine, as long as you don't commit any real crimes you'll be fine." Y/N joked, "So... Do you know why he's trying to kidnap me?"
"Not really, he just asked me to kidnap the 'person who always hangs around that little D.I.C.E. shit.'" Maki quoted.

"What makes you think that the Yakuza is the culprit?" Y/N asked, almost in utter shock.
Shuichi placed a couple of photos on his desk and motioned for the other detective to lean down. Their eyes scanned the photos and the blue-haired detective pointed at a picture of the body, "See this one photo? Look at the marks on her body."
"What about it?"
"So far we've assumed that the killer was one person, Mrs. Kirigiri speculated that it was an abusive ex, or a single person beating her, but if you look at it carefully, all of the marks are different shapes and sizes, different wounds, and even different blood splatters..."
"Go on..."
"These types of wounds would suggest that there were many different weapons hitting her, and I highly doubt someone would bring that many weapons for a single attack."
"Since the attackers were more than one person, we can assume they were a gang of some kind... and the only gang that matches up is the Yakuza!" Y/N exclaimed, wrapping their head around the conclusion.
"Exactly! Due to her connection with case 264B." Shuichi grinned.

Y/N walked into the bar, loud shouting and music filled their ears as they cringed at the sudden noise. They resisted the urge to cover their ears and made their way over to the counter. Their eyes glanced around and finally landed on the certain person they came here for.
"Hello there."
"Fuck off." She cursed, taking a large swig of the beer.
"That's no way to greet an old friend." Y/N chuckled, tapping on the female's shoulder.
The brunette turned around begrudged only to be pleasantly surprised, "Y/N?"
"Seems you've recognized me. I hope you don't mind but let's take a walk outside."
Maki sighed, pushing her drink to the side and glared up at the detective, "This better be worth my wasted drink."
The two walked out on the moon illuminated sidewalk.
"How are you doing? Especially after the... break up and all." Y/N spoke softly, feeling hesitant to approach the touchy subject.
"Everything's shit, my whole life got fucked up. I didn't realize how much I depended on him until he broke up with me and launched himself into outer space." Maki grumbled, almost inaudible, yet the fury would still make you shit your pants.
"I'm going to get kicked out of my place if I don't pay tomorrow, that idiot was helping me pay, but he had to pay for himself, but now that he's waaaaaaaay up there he can't give me any money. And before that the idiot fucking called me 'too clingy,' and that he would 'come back to me' when I resolved my issues." Maki said in a mocking voice.
Y/N was all too familiar with the drunk rambling Maki, it *was* them who drove brunette home from the bar every night.
Y/N stopped on the path and gave Maki a grin, "What if I gave you a job?"
Maki gave a puzzling look, and Y/N continued, "I really need your help with a new murder case I'm helping my co-worker with, for this murder, the culprit is the..." Y/N leaned in, making extra sure nobody heard them, "...Yakuza, and I need you to help me gather evidence. In return, I'll give you enough money for groceries and next month's rent."
"You want me to... double-cross the Yakuza? I know I'm a skilled spy, but that'll put my life at very high risk."
"Oh, It's fine-"
"-BUT I WANT THE JOB. I was just complaining for no reason." Maki cut the detective off.
"That's all I needed to hear."

Present time.
"I overheard Kokichi talking about the Yakuza before, but this sounds like they have more association than I thought." Y/N sighed, running a hand through their hair.
"The big question is what are you going to do about it?" Maki mumbled.
"Let them kidnap me."
"What!?" Maki exclaimed, jumping up onto her feet.
"It'll be a lot more helpful if I know what they want from me, and I still need you to cover as the 'Famous assassin hired by the Yakuza'."
