Red and white are typically the colors of love and purity. In Korea, not only do they symbolize that, but they are also considered auspicious. Hand made by her mother, she wanted her daughter to be successful in finding love. She hoped wearing this modern take on the tradional Korean hanbok will bring her daughter good luck. She knows that first impressions are everything and you can never have too much luck on your side.

Although she knows nothing about the royal family, she figured that she would keep with the meaning behind colors in her tradition. Koreans devoutly believe white to be a symbol of humility, knowledge and purity, and its usage implies devotion to all things natural, pure, and non-decorative. It's also fitting for a man whom she knows nothing about. She can only hope he is noble in every way not only that, but he holds true to values that would bring honor to his family. She also decided to act a little black, because black and white together mean harmony, balance. Black means formality, dignity, rules, although it can mean death and darkness, when balanced with white it continues to balance things out.
