Thoughts:

Lear: First chapter and I'm getting Cinderella vibes.

Roland: What is Cinderella?

Lear: *glaze darts to Roland* You never heard of Cinderella? And you call yourself an expert on humans.

Roland: *looks dumbfounded* So -- who is Cinderella?

Lear: Technically it's not a 'who'. It's a fairytale story. You should read it. It sends a nice message.

Roland: I shall. I don't think I like her so-called father too much.

Lear: He is a problem. Right from the start. He's power hungry.

Roland: An you-know-what

Lear: Mr. Roland! Language!

Roland: What? I'm sure a lot of Izzy's fans would agree with me about Samuel.

Lear: What Samuel did is terrible, but I've  had seen worse. Sure he's still following long forgotten traditions, such as relations with other family members, but I can't help but feel like he was made into the monster he is.

Roland: It's no excuse to treat others like that. Though I suppose the way he grew up does play a factor. But he's an entitled a-

Lear: Mr. Roland!

Roland: Butt. He's an entitled butt. *folds arms over each other*

Lear: *sighs* We can agree that you don't agree with Samuel's methods but he is a cruel king known as such. I wouldn't have expected anything less.

Roland: *picks up a cookie* Ana is such a sweet girl in comparison to her family.

Lear: *takes cookie from Roland*

Roland: Hey!

Lear: *bites off cookie* Ana is a very likable character. She has some honorable qualities to go along with her nice demeanor. I can't help but feel like she was a little too good for the world she lived in.

Roland:*gets another cookie* She was a strong woman who has been through a lot. But you know Azarel did a lot of changing. If I had to say: I feel like the story was more about his changing than sweet Ana. Ana did remain the same throughout this story, but Azarel, he did some heavy changing.

Lear: Azarel was a unique character I'll admit. He showed flaws that complimented him and that shows the cruel reality he has to live in.

Roland: It's tragic that he lost everything in the end.

Lear: Don't be quick to judge.

Roland: I'm not. I'm just saying how sad this book ends. It's a tragedy slash hopeful story. The author does a good job in tugging the readers along.

Lear: She gave us hope, and then took it away. *shakes head*

Roland: Bear was my favorite character.

Lear: O'course he was.

Roland: *looks at Lear* What does that mean?

Lear: You favor animals in these kinds of stories.

Roland: I liked Ana if that helps *looks back*

Lear: My favorite was Azarel. The redeemable character.

Roland: You would go with the bad guy but actually good guy character.

Lear: They are so much fun. Besides, the story wouldn't of had that deep emotional aspect without him.

Roland: The scene with Ana cradling a wounded Darcy had me in tears. *wipes eyes* It was written wonderfully.

Lear:I liked the fight scene between Azarel and Christopher. Then, Ana using her awesome powers.

Roland: Do you think Azarel and Christopher could ever be friends.

Lear: I don't know, but they have a long time to think about it.

Roland: Maann! I can't wait to dive into book two.

Lear: Patience Mr. Roland. We're not finished with our review. What did you think about the story?

Roland: It was a nice change as the vampire genre usually contains the steamy aspect of things or those horrible scary vampires like those vampires with no identifiable body Ana runs into.

Lear: That was a clever part of the book. The blank body vampires. I just wished I knew how they fitted into the whole plot. I feel like they have a significance to the story.

Roland: I love how the history was woven into this story. It was natural.

Lear: Though there were a few areas where the author could go into more details like the death scene for Ana. I would have liked to learn her final emotions as darkness overtook her.

Roland: I predict Darcy will, if possible, will be a great match for Christopher.

Lear: Even the romantic but she can't.

Roland: Sure she can. Anything is possible in the world of fiction!

Lear: *sighs* If I could ask the author one thing, I'll ask her where is Christopher.

Roland: I'll ask: what was the present Darcy got for Ana.

Lear: Overall, I enjoyed the story. It had action, blood, and horrible things.

Roland: Romance! Don't forget the romance. I loved to see a half witch half vampire character. Not many authors are able to pull off the two aspects of one's being well but this author did a good job.
