Zander Nowak

"Zander, come on! We're gonna be late for school!" 

I groaned and turned on my pillow, willing her silently to go away. Before I could yell at her, my door slammed open and in came my twin sister, Ashtin.

"Hellooooooo, brother!" I felt weight slam on my back and I hissed in pain.

"Get. Off." I mumbled into my pillow.

"Or. What?" She mocked, and I turned my face. She smirked at me.

"Or I'll take away your laptop and delete your Tumblr." I heard her gasp and get off quickly. 

"Ok, ok, sorry. But seriously, get up. We're gonna be late, and Kathryn's gonna whoop our asses."

I sighed and sat up, rubbing my eyes and getting up. I stumbled over to my closet and pulled out a black sweater, ripped blue skinny jeans, and white Vans. After getting dressed, I smelled coffee. My wolf purred in delight and I grinned, too.

I ran downstairs and grabbed to mug Ash handed me, greedily downing the drink. She ate a pear and drank her smoothie. Freaking healthy people. I'm pretty sure she's in more shape than me. We finished our breakfast and ran out to our cars. Ashtin got into her black Aston Martin Vantage while I climbed into my Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4, which was a dark blue. Looking at each other, we raced to school.

-Fifteen minute time skip brought to you by my anxiety-

Ashtin pulled in first and got out, hollering in victory. I groaned and pulled up beside her, sticking my tongue at her as she did a little dance. We both stopped when we smelled the familiar scent of Kathryn, along with James and another new scent. Sure enough, the blonde girl approached with James and some girl. New girl had long black hair and bright blue eyes along with freckles.

Kathryn stood in front of us, golden hair up in a messy bun. She smiled at us, and spoke.

"Guys, this is Maria Vasquez. She's an Omega, and she'll be joining our group."

I smiled at her and flashed my gold eyes, showing her I accepted her.

Kathryn (Full name: Kathryn Amelia Orland) was kind of like our Alpha. Even though she used to be a Beta, she was replaced, but she was still bitten. After everything in her life went to hell, she came here. To the small town of Green Pines, Wyoming.

*I made that place up, if it references a real place it's purely coincidence.

Ashtin and I were Omegas and our aunt was an Alpha, which is who we lived with. Our parents didn't want us, as they said they weren't ready for kids and couldn't deal with Omegas anyway, so she took us in. Our Aunt was Alpha Jennifer Nowak, and she controlled the Dark Water Pack, which was the territory we lived in. We had grown up here, and thankfully no one had tried to enter by force in all of these eighteen years. 

James was a normal wolf who had moved here with his moms and brothers. His official Alpha was our aunt, but we all just kind of followed Kathryn at school.

I had History first period, with Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a cool guy, and he liked making us do fun projects. None of my enemies were in that class, like Ethan Dole or Rya Summers. They were cousins, and it was annoying how they acted like they ruled the school.

They weren't really bad people, just obnoxious and loud.

I shook my head and sighed, heading to class. Once I arrived, I sat in the back and almost tipped over when a Korean girl ran past me really fast and sat down at a nearby desk. I realized it was Kimmy Park, one of my human friends. She knew about wolves though, being mated to Kathryn she was allowed to know. She grinned at me and I smiled while rolling my eyes.

Mr. Wilson walked in and began class.

"Ok, boys and girls, today we are going to be talking about Ancient Roman Government. Does anyone know one form of government that they had? Yes, Mr. Daye."

While everyone spoke, Kimmy moved to sit by me. 

"Hey, I heard some new guys moved into a nearby town, and wanted your Aunts permission. They might like have dinner with you guys or something."

I sat while staring at her.

"How do you know that?"

She shrugged. "I keep in touch; I have my ways."

I drew back at her mysteriousness. She was really ominous sometimes.

At lunch, the whole group sat together at a circle table in the back. Kathryn between James and Kimmy, Ashtyn next to James and Maria, and me sitting alone on the other side. I picked at my lunch of mash potatoes and chicken, thinking about what Kimmy had said in History.

Were they wolves? Why else would they ask for my Aunts permission?

Were they rogues, or did they have a pack? 

Why are they here?

The five minute bell rang and I pushed my food towards James, knowing he would eat it. I got up and went to the bathroom to splash my face with water. I was thinking too much again, my head hurt. 

Zander, are you alright?

Yes, Micco. I'll be fine.

I'm a bit curious to meet these new wolves, what about you?

I'm sure they'll be ok.

Me too. I appreciate you, Zander.

And I you, Micco. And I you.

The long school day was over at last, and Ashtin and I headed home. We pulled up to see that our Aunt was here. With a matching thump, we each got out slowly. Aunt Jen is hardly ever home, she usually stays at the Pack House to watch over her pack. We headed inside after unlocking the door, and our aunt rushed towards us.

"Hello, loves. Will you please go get dressed in some formal wear? We have guests coming." Her British tone slipped out a bit, and we nodded. That meant she was worried. 

I headed to my room and got dressed in my dinner clothes, which is an outfit reserved for guests. It was a dark button up with sleeve rolled up to my elbows, black jeans, and black shoes. I combed my hair a bit and just dabbed on a bit of peppermint cologne on my neck. Not enough to really effect my scent, just to make me smell nice. I heard the doorbell ring and Aunt Jen open the door, when a slight scent of pine, mint, and rain flooded my senses. It smelled really good. Micco purred in delight. Just as I was wondering what it was, Aunt Jen yelled, "Loves! Come see the guests!"

I headed down with Ash, who was dressed in a tight fitting black dress that showed off her legs. Her ombré hair was slightly curled, and she did a bit of dark lipstick, but nothing too unnatural. We headed downstairs and the earlier scent hit me with strength.

I looked around, but froze and turned slightly red when I heard a deep, husky voice claim:

"Him. He's mine."
