The Hellion Pack
"It's kinda awkward that Luna Sienna thinks that you're carrying Greyson's child..." Rina whispers very quietly to me as we walk down the hall behind Sienna and Faith who are wrapped up in a deep conversation.
"Why is that awkward? It's the truth." I whisper back.
Rina's jaw drops, "Um... What?"
"Damien and I never had... you know... we never did the deed..."
"Then why the hell did you tell the whole squad you were pregnant with Damien's child?" She whisper screams at me.
"I had to, it was either keep the secret and guarantee the baby's safety, or secretly tell people, risking the secret getting let out. I just couldn't put the baby's or Greyson's life at risk like that." I quickly respond.
Rina sighs. It's an unhappy sigh. She's clearly not thrilled with me right now. I can't blame her. She is my best friend and I kept this from her for a while. To be fair, I did tell her at one point I never would have sex with Damien, and she should've believed that. But I guess there was that long span of time where I didn't have my wolf...
"I'm a little pissed." she sucks in a deep breath and lets it out, "but I'm really happy for you. I wasn't sure how to feel before, you know, when I thought it was the devil's baby, but now that I know, I truly am happy for you. This is exciting."
A small smile spreads across my face as I place my hands on my belly. "It is exciting. I'm really glad that you and I planned to run away, Rina. Thank you for coming with me."
She laces her arm through mine and leans her head on my shoulder. "Of course. I'd do anything for you and Leo. I truly love you guys. I'm also really glad we were prepared, speaking of, I have your to go bag in Leo's room. Don't forget to grab that."
"I won't, thank you."
Sienna and Faith finally make it to a door in the hallway. Faith pushes open the door and stands to the side, allowing Sienna to walk through. A breeze of fresh air and a burst of sunlight filters into the hallway, blowing my hair a bit. The smell of the outdoors is refreshing and relaxing. What quickly follows that relaxation is a burst of sound. Chattering and laughting rings through the air.
Rina and I thank Faith as we walk through the doorway. The sun is shining and bright. I have to squint my eyes a bit as we walk out into the large back yard.
As we do, my stomach sinks a bit.
There's something faintly familiar about this place. I'm not sure what it is, but something about this yard feels nostalgic. I mean, I guess it has a similar feel to my pack house's backyard?
"Leo!" Rina shouts enthusiastically from next to me and immediately sprints away from me.
I follow her with my eyes as she collides into an elated Leo. His eyes are glowing as he wraps his arms around Rina. They're so cute together. Happiness shakes my heart for them. I want nothing but joy and good things for those two. They're family in my eyes.
Then my heart thumps excitedly in realization.
If Leo is here, that must mean-
"Lucia," a deep and happy voice floats into my ears. I turn to my right to find a smiling Greyson approaching and fast.
"Greyson," I smile happily. I ignore the masses of people watching us as I jolt forward and wrap my arms around my handsome mate. I nuzzle my head into his warm chest as he wraps me in a bear hug. "I missed you so much." I mumble into his shirt. His scents floats around me, filling me with happiness and comfort. I could stay here forever.
But soon his arms loosen around me, and the white noise I was once ignoring funnels into my ears and I realize we're still being watched by many strangers. I quickly untangle myself from him and jump backwards.
"Sorry..." I quickly blurt our. I glance up at him with embarrassment in my eyes.
He laughs, reaches out his large hand and ruffles up my hair. "No need to apologize. I'm glad you're awake and doing well. Last night was a long one for you."
Memories of the celebration float through my head. I shudder as I remember the screams and terror that was running through my pack after the attack. Obviously, I haven't been filled in on any information regarding pretty much anything... but I can easily conclude that the attack was this pack against my own. Judging by Greyson's stance as Alpha's son, I'm assuming he was one of the biggest contenders in convincing this pack to attack my old one.
My heart pounds nervously in my chest as I think about the people I left behind. Raymond, Derek, Ruben, Milena and even Catalina. Are they okay? Did they make it out of the attack?
"What are you thinking about?" Greyson asks me lightly as his hand slips down my hair and caresses my cheek.
"The squad and a few others in the pack that I left behind..." I whispers to him.
He sighs, "I'm sorry Lucia. All those guys are very skilled. I have no doubts they're fine. The raid didn't last much longer after I got you. Our mission wasn't to kill the people in your pack... we had another thing in mind... I'll explain everything to you later, I promise."
"Everything?" I interrogate him. After all, apparently he's been withholding a lot of information from me since the beginning.
A small, cocky smirk creeps it's way onto his face. He nods his head, "I really mean everything this time. I swear."
"I'm holding you to it." I tell him straight up. "If you lie to me again, I have every right to beat you up."
"That you do," he laughs and drops his hand down from my face to my hand. He wraps it in his own. "I think the first thing you deserve is a proper introduction, since I've withheld that from you my entire time knowing you..." I growl a bit under my breath in resentment. I'm sure as hell not happy he lied to me, but at least this is a start to him making up for it. "My name is Greyson Alvarez, son of Alpha Aaron Alvarez. This is my family, also known as the Hellion Pack," he motions around at the whole backyard and the many people around us having their own conversations.
"Well, Greyson Alvarez. I certainly haven't fully forgiven you yet, for lying to me. But, I really am happy to see you, and happy to be with you again. I was so worried when you were kicked out... I have many questions for you." I glare up at him, so he knows I'm not letting him off the hook so easy. "So many I doubt they can be answered in even one night's time."
He sighs, "you have every right to still be upset. But don't worry, every question you have will be answered, since we have forever ahead of us."
I roll my eyes at his corny line about us being together forever, even though it makes butterflies erupt in my stomach. "You're so cheesy." I tell him, as my cheeks turn pink.
"Only for you," he winks at me. I roll my eyes in response.
"A feisty one you've got there son," A new voice erupts from behind Greyson. I look up to see Alpha Aaron approaching.
"She sure is," Greyson laughs as he looks down at me with loving eyes. I could just stare into those green orbs all day.
But instead I turn to greet our new guest. I bow slightly "Alpha, it's a pleasure to see you again. I'm truly very sorry about my lack of respect earlier. It'll never happen again."
A deep laugh rumbles from within the Alpha's belly. I glance up to see him smiling. "Now if I have my son's mate calling me so formally all the time you'd think I'd be a drill sergeant! Please Lucia, just call me Aaron. I only give this privilege to my favorites so please don't disappoint." He tells me happily.
A favorite? Is this the type of treatment I get just because I'm Greyson's mate? It almost seems unfair, but it really does make me feel special.
I smile, "thank you sir... I mean Aaron. I won't let you down."
"That's my girl! Now why don't you two come around with me, I'd really like to show everyone what we raided another pack for." He motions for us to follow as he turns and starts to walk towards a large group of people.
Greyson tugs me along by my hand. I follow but glance up at Greyson, "what is he talking about?" I whisper. "What does he mean show everyone what we raided for!?"
Greyson glances down at me with a smile. "It's you of course. Well, and Rina too."
My eyes widen in disbelief. "You guys raided to go get me?" I groan,"are you crazy?"
"Crazy about you," he whispers.
I growl and roll my eyes, "You've gotta cut out the corny act. It's getting old fast."
He laughs, "I'm sorry but you're making it so easy."
I sigh and roll my eyes, but a warmth fills my body. I squeeze his hand a bit tighter as we approach the group Alpha Alvarez wanted to introduce me to. The Alpha turns, smiles, and quickly opens up my night to long curious talks with people who were once strangers when the day began.
