That Unfortunate Day

3rd person:

When the twins turned 5, Lucia decided that she wanted a place of her own. Not that she didn't love the new pack and the bonds that she has built with everyone, she just knew it was getting close to the time when the Alpha would pass his title on to Greyson. Lucia wanted a space where she and the kids could escape from the eyes of everyone in the pack.

Greyson and Lucia went home shopping and in a matter of months, they owned a cute little home in the middle of... well no where. They had only a few neighbors, but besides that, their little neighborhood was quite stranded.

Lucia took the twins and Greyson to the new house. They pulled up in their black SUV. Lucia hopped out of the passenger side and opened the back door. Dawn was sitting there, she looked up at her mother with her deep green eyes. They were so strikingly identical to Greyson, it always made Lucia smile. The young girl was clearly nervous. She knew they were "moving" but wasn't exactly sure what that entailed. Lucia, sensing her nervousness, gets down to her level.

Lucia gave the young girl a stunning smile. One that was filled with comfort. She offered her hand to her young daughter and whisper some relaxing words. After a moment, Dawn grabbed her hand willingly and followed her mother out of the car. As soon as Dawn's feet hit the ground, she released the hand and grabbed Lucia's leg nervously. Greyson went around the other side of the vehicle, but was already headed towards the house with Liam. Lucia on the other hand, had another plan in mind.

When they had pulled up to their house, she saw their neighbor standing outside with a colicky young girl in her arms. Lucia and Greyson had met the woman, Missy, when they were looking into purchasing the house. She was a decent amount older than Lucia and Greyson. She had her brownish-grey hair pulled up into a tight, grandma-style bun. The woman was slightly plump and her cheeks seemed to radiate with an ever-existing smile. She was a very kind older woman, who fosters two young children... well, did foster, she had apparently adopted both children at some point in her fostering.

After introductions and allowing Dawn to play with the neighbors son, Lucia and Dawn joined Greyson and Liam in their new house.

It was two stories, yellow with a tiny white fence in the front yard. They only had that one neighbor who was super close, the others were somewhat far away in the neighborhood. It really didn't take them long to turn that small place into their home. The twins shared a bedroom on the first floor, as they hated to be separate. They made the other bedroom on the ground floor a guest room, then they made the upstairs their sanctuary. Greyson made a small nook, he called it an office but Lucia laughed at that since it was so small. It was a place where he could do some paper work that his Dad would often give him regarding pack house matters. Lucia was able to build her dream home, including her dream bedroom. Of course she had a few helpful inputs from Greyson along the way.

Everything was... well, perfect. At least in Lucia's eyes.

So of course she wasn't expecting anything out of the norm to happen on that cloudy day. A cold breeze blew as the sun hid away from the days activities. Lucia was planning on taking the twins with her to go to the pack house. Greyson had stayed the night, helping his Alpha parents with some miscellaneous activity that had had them busy for the past month or so. She was feeding the five-year olds breakfast, unsuccessfully may I add, when Greyson walked through the front door of their quaint home. The kids screeched in happiness and dashed towards their large father. He scooped them both up into his arms, gave each a kiss on the cheek and returned them to the floor. They were laughing and giggling in happiness, tugging on his pants, wanting to be picked up again. He had his mind on other things, like greeting his beautiful mate who was covered in waffle bits and sticky from syrup that the kids had tossed around.

He strode right over to her, swooped her into his arms and kissed her. She kissed him back with equal passions but had to break it due to the children. She laughed as the kids booed and pulled on their pants, clearly wanting attention. Each took a child, Lucia swooped up Liam and Greyson took Dawn.

Lucia questioned Greyson, wondering why he was home so early. He told her that they were finally able to wrap up the whole mishap that had been keeping the Alphas busy for so long. They decided a nice day at the park would be a great way to celebrate Greyson's free time.

After the kids refused to eat, Lucia and Greyson packed lunches and put the kids in the car. They drove to their local park. It was a bit chilly, but that surely didn't stop the kids from having a blast and running off to the seesaw without their jackets on. Lucia and Greyson chased after them, finally managing to get them to put on another layer. Once that was done, all that was left to do was to simply watch the children and just enjoy the day. There weren't many families at the park. Lucia leaned her head on Greyson's shoulder and sighed in content.

She can't believe what her life has become. Once she was running a rogue squad. She barely even considered herself a girl, much less a woman. Now, after childbirth and other hardships, she realized just how proud she was to be a woman. She accomplished more in her squad than anyone else, and even outside of the squad she was able to create a huge family and handle it with ease.

She wrapped her arms around Greyson's waist and wiggle in, nice an close to his warmth. His body practically purred at the touch of her. He followed the kids with his eyes, they were playing with a ball on the grass in between the woods and the playground. Satisfied that they were content at the moment, he pulled his wife up to his level. He looked straight into her eyes with clear hunger. She smirked, knowing exactly what he was thinking.

In the next moment, he was kissing her. She melted into him. Her hands went to his cheeks, and she neared her body to his. She groaned as he whispered some seductive words in her ear, which only enticed her more. They couldn't separate. They were locked together, creating a deep desire that lingered between the two of them. They stayed there for a while, just enjoying each other's presence. They wanted each other, but alas, they were in public... maybe if they snuck over to the car-

A scream echoed all around them, breaking their kiss.

Greyson's heart drop but Lucia's reaction was pure instinct. She bolted up from the chair, looking around for her children.

Gone.

They were gone, no where to be seen. Greyson joins her now, and they search the area. When they realize there are no more families around and no more children, they begin to freak out. They break off into different directions, calling for their kids.

Lucia heads straight for the woods, Greyson towards the other side of the park. She bolts as her heart pounds in her ears. It takes her a moment, but she locates a large shadow coming out of a bush. Instinct takes over. She shifts mid run. Notices then that Dawn is on the ground crawling away from the shadow--no, a wolf. Lucia tackles it to the ground. Dawn screeches and runs deep into the woods.

Lucia wrestles with the large mangy wolf. It reeks of something familiar to her. They wrestle until he is pinned to the ground. She glances in his eyes. She doesn't recognize them but finally put her finger on where the smell came from. Her old pack... the Igor pack.

Before she could tear into his throat, and cause the damned wolf to bleed out, she is cut off by a loud cough. Lucia is sure to keep the wolf pinned to the ground but glances over her shoulder. Her heart stops as the large black-haired man emerges from the woods. Immediately she recognizes Damien Dyer. His devilish omen pours off him in waves, and he can't contain the evil smirk from riding onto his lip. Clearly, he knows something she doesn't--yet. He motions to the woods, signaling for one of his other men to step out from behind him.

Although the man who emerged is very rough around the edges, with large muscles and darkness in his eyes, that isn't what makes Lucia submit. No, it is the little boy thrashing about in the mans arms. It's her son, Liam. Lucia steps away from the man she was pinning and shifts back to her human form, before Damien.

He smirks down at her, but before she can even say a word, Damien wheels back his fist and slams it across her face. Having been trained to withstand punches. Lucia struggles on the ground and looks up at Damien. Then he releases a fully blown kick to her gut, so hard, she spits out blood. He brings down his half shifted hand and clobbers her face with his claws. She slumps onto to forest ground.

In the distance, Dawn hides in the bushes. She could hear the black-haired man laugh. She was about to cry out but was too filled with fear. Instead she began hyperventilating. She had seen wolves before, many at that, but none had attacked her. She lost her brother in those woods and had no idea where he went. Even her Mom seems to be in trouble. Dawn managed to steady her breathing but the tears wouldn't stop.

It wasn't until a wolf nose popped into the bushes that she realized she was in immediate danger again. She let out a loud scream, actually startling the wolf when she sprinted out from the bushes. She heard it following behind her. It's steps crunching against the dried leaves. She was so terrified. She cried and crumbled to the forest ground. She had expected to be pinned to the floor as she heard the wolf approaching with a growl, but it never happened. She glanced behind her shoulder, to find the wolf who was stalking her pinned to the grass and covered in blood. Her eyes were wide with fear. She had never expected to see blood, and so much of it.

Another, familiar wolf, her father, was standing above it, blood pooling from his mouth. He shifted back to human form, wiped the blood from his lips and scooped his daughter into his large, protective arms. She was crying at that point; devastated to say the least. She had buried her head in his shoulder and sobbed for what felt like days. Greyson was searching for something in the woods. She could only assume her brother and mother.

After a while, Greyson came to a halt. She felt him tense, heard a draw of his breath, and almost, what she could have sworn as the beginning of tears. Dawn had calmed down enough to try to lean up and see when he was looking at. What could make him, her big strong father, so shaken up? Greyson didn't allow her to turn her head. Instead he gently pressed her eyes back into his shoulder, blocking her view. He turned away from whatever it is he was looking at, and started walking away. Dawn, the non-obedient of the two twins, snuck a peak behind Greyson's shoulder.

She wish she hadn't tho, because what she saw was a massacre.

Two bodies, a woman's and a little boy's, were smeared in blood, no, pooled in blood. The faces and bodies so clawed up and tethered that they were practically, unrecognizable. Dawn cried and Greyson realized his mistake of letting her lift her head. He cradled her in his arms. Held the weeping child, until they got to the car and drove away.
