Rescue Time?
I run up the stairs, taking two steps at a time. As I go, I pass by a couple who are dressed up in fancy and elegant attire. The woman, sporting a sparkly pink dress and her hair up in a fancy up-do, looks offended as I pass by her. The look on her face tells me that this hotel is for the rich and snobby. I can't help but roll my eyes at her as I fly up the stairs with a gush of wind rushing past them.
I reach the second floor in a matter of minutes, my eyes scan the walls for the little plates that signal which rooms are in which direction. I find it in an instant and identify that I need to go right in order to get to room two hundred and one.
I run through the hall, panting at this point. My heart racing in my ears.
The floors are all carpeted, with an elegant design running through the entire way. The walls are a creamy yellow. Picture frames with beautiful and elegant paintings inside dangle and hang on the walls. This hotel is very nice and put together. Clearly they pay a lot to get the best interior decorators around. It's almost surprising it has a trashy night club on the first floor.
In a moment I reach my destination. My feet skid to a stop before a door. The little plastic tag laying on the wall beside the door reads '201'. I reach for the doorknob, turn it, but as I suspected, it's locked. I jiggle it again to be sure, but it doesn't budge. From inside the room I hear Zack say something.
"What was that?"
"I don't know but let me go." Liana hisses, I can hear her squirming.
"Shut up you stupid mutt. I'm not letting you go anywhere. Once I'm done with you, you're going straight to the higher up hunters. They will decide what to do with you." His tone is cocky and laced with danger, clearly meant to intimidate her.
I frown as anger pulses through my veins. My wolf growls loudly in my head. Her stance turns offensive and aggressive as she gets into protective mode. She squirms to life, standing with rage pulsing through her veins. A surge of energy runs through my muscles. Stepping back from the door, I lift my leg up high, and slam it down hard onto the doorknob.
A loud crack of metal rings through the air around me. The loud bang erupts as the knob splits from the door. It falls to the floor with a heavy clank and bounces around near my feet. I kick the door open, rage filling every bone in my body.
The only light filtering into the room is from the hallway. Zack has Liana trapped beneath his grip on the bed. He is holding her arms above her head with his left hand, and has stripped her top and bra off completely. His legs straddle her waist and her thighs so that way she can barely struggle underneath him. I growl angrily as rage bursts throughout my body like oil being lit on fire.
My legs move beneath me as I storm up to the bed. Zack stands, finally releasing Liana. She sits up from the bed and covers herself with her arms. I can see her cheeks are pink with embarrassment and anger. She knows Zack is just a human, but he was still able to over power her.
Zack smirks at me as I stop and stand before him. "You came to play as well little one?"
"I only came here to kick your sorry ass."
He laughs at that. "You came to kick my ass? For one thing, you're a mere girl, I don't know how you would expect to beat a man like myself. For the second thing, your werewolf powers won't help you now. That concoction we gave you at the bar is spiked with wolf's bane. You won't be able to shift or use your strength for a while."
"I wouldn't need my werewolf strength to beat the likes of you. You call yourself a man, but look at what you're doing, using your strength to over power a girl into doing something she doesn't want to. To me, that's the puniest thing a little boy like yourself can do."
He grunts angrily and reaches out to grab the front of my shirt, bunching it up in his grip. I allow him to bring me closer to his face for a moment. "Stop talking," he whispers to me, "it's ruining your pretty face."
I frown. I reach up my right hand and wrap it around the hand that's holding onto my shirt. "I," squeezing hard on his hand, a small crack echoes around us, "could give," I rip his hand from my shirt and he groans in pain, his eyes turning to shock, "two shits about your opinion."
I give him a hard shove with my free hand. His whole body flies through the air. I forgot how light and easy to move humans were. He slams against the wall and slides down, hitting the floor with a thud. His body left an impression on the wall. Looks like I pushed him harder than I thought I did. I walk over to him. Squatting down to his level, I gently lift his chin up. His eyes are closed but he isn't groaning. Either he is a master at hiding his pain, or he passed out. Too bad, I wasn't done having fun with him.
I release his chin and it falls lifelessly to his chest. Standing, I turn to Liana. Her eyes are wide with terror. I notice her body is shaking. Granted, I know being put into a situation like this is scary, but isn't she a service girl? She should be used to this kind of treatment.
I approach her carefully. "Are you okay?" I ask her, my voice gentle.
Her body trembles as she holds herself. She looks into my eyes and all I can see is fear and relief. "I... I will be okay..."
"Good, now I need you to get up. It isn't safe here. Pull yourself together and run to the van. The others will be waiting for you."
When I get up to the bed, I grab the lower half of my shirt and pull it up and over my head. I proceed to hand it to the trembling girl. Shakily, she reaches her hand out and grabs it from me.
"You're giving me this?" She asks as I release the shirt from my grip and she gets full possession over it.
I nod, "he tore yours up. Now put it on and hurry down to the van. I will be there in a bit."
I turn on my heels. My legs move quickly. As I get to the door's opening, a weak voice calls out from behind me. "Lucia?" I turn my head around, looking at Liana. "Thank you." She tells me.
I give her a soft smile and run out the door.
"Derek, what floor did you say Catalina was on?"
"Somewhere on floor five. Lucia we sent in a recruitment. He will be waiting on floor five. Hurry up."
"You got it."
I rush up the stairs. This time I don't pass by anyone. In a couple of minutes I make it up to the fifth floor. I push open the staircase doors and huff from the run. To my surprise there isn't anyone waiting for me like Derek said. I rush out into the hall and start looking for Catalina myself. I round the corner and suddenly bump into something hard.
"Oof." I say and steady myself. Rubbing my head to soothe the bump that is sure to grow, "what the hell, watch where you're go-" My eyes look up to make eye contact with dark green ones.
My wolf stirs in my head. My heart pulsates at an erratic tempo. Leaving me stunned, and a bit speechless.
"I could say the same thing." His deep voice is comforting and sends shivers down my spine.
I snap out of my daze. "Greyson... You're the recruitment?"
He smirks, "surprised?" I nod. His eyes fall from my face and trails down to my body. He frowns. He grabs his sweatshirt, unzips it, and tears it off of himself. He quickly drapes it over my shoulders. "What happened?"
I fit my arms into the sleeves and zip it up. "Long story, any leads on Catalina?"
"I've already checked the other hall, this is the only one left."
"Odds are, he will be one of the end rooms."
"Why is that?"
"Because, he is working with the Hunter's. Only the end rooms have access to an outdoor emergency escape. He is sure to have all the special treatments from these Hunter's. Especially if he is giving them what they want."
"And what do they want?" Greyson asks as we hurry down the hall.
"Information that only a Werewolf like himself could know."
"Like the whereabouts of packs and who the leaders of the packs are."
"Exactly. Considering our pack is infamous in the Werewolf community, I wouldn't be surprised if the Hunters already have a good amount of information on us."
We reach the end of the corridor. Greyson and I listen for any sort of noise coming from either room. It doesn't take long before we identity Catalina's voice. After all, it is extremely annoying and easily recognizable. She appears to be screaming but her voice is quickly shut up. I look over at Greyson who has a worried expression on his face. Something is happening in there. We need to get her out. Now.
Simultaneously, Greyson and I kick the door. With both our strength, the whole door falls off the hinges and slams to the ground. We walk into the room. To my surprise, I see Catalina on the bed, but no Rodger to be seen. Catalina's mouth now has a cloth stuffed in it, making her unable to speak. She is tied up to the bed post.
Her eyes are wide in fear and she is frantically shaking her head. I don't know what's going on.
"Go untie her." I command Greyson, although I didn't really have to. He was already on his way.
I notice the window open in the room. "Shit. He escaped." I hiss under my breath.
Greyson gets to Catalina's side. He quickly undoes the cloth from her head, freeing her mouth.
She springs up in a frantic state and screams, "no he's in the bathroom-"
It all happens so fast.
My face turns to the left at her warning. Rodger springs from the shadows of the hotel bathroom with a blade in his hand. He aims directly for my heart. With the luck of receiving Catalina's warning, I'm able to deflect the blade from hitting its target. Instead of hitting my heart I deflect it downward. Unfortunately, my timing is off and it ends up piercing into my lower hip. I grunt as the blade slices deeply into my skin. The gash is thick and oozing with fresh blood.
"Lucia!" Greyson screams. Agony laced into his voice.
My vision starts spotting black. I'm losing blood, and fast. I groan and pull his hand from my hip. The knife slices at my tender skin as it gets pulled from my side. I waste no time as I knee him in the groin. His body flops down and his face reaches toward the ground.
It's clear that he wasn't expecting me to fight back so quickly.
I forcefully push him to the ground. I take his hand behind his back and press my knee between his shoulder blades. He groans under my grip. I place more pressure on my knee.
"Shit," he hisses. "Let go of me you wrench."
I growl and press even harder, satisfied by the painful groans he makes in response. "Let go? You stabbed me you bastard."
Luckily for me, it was just a plain knife. With my werewolf blood, I can feel the wound already starting to mend itself. Although that doesn't help much considering I have already lost a good deal of blood.
"What do you want from me?" He hisses, his face pressed hard to the floor.
I waste no time jumping straight to the point. "Tell me where Harvey is."
"Harvey?" His one eye darts toward Catalina then back to my own face. "As in Harvey Jones?"
I growl annoyed and dig my knee harder into his back. He replies with a painful groan. "No shit Sherlock. Tell me where he is. Now."
"I haven't seen Harvey since we parted ways." Then a small smile forms on his lips.
The action startles me a bit. My body unconsciously shivering, uncertainty shakes my bones to the core. Yet I hold back and show no fear on the outside. I only frown harder.
"What the hell are you smiling about?"
"Nothing."
I growl and bend his arm further up his back, mangling it in an odd direction. A satisfying and unpleasant snap rings through the air followed by Rodger's painful howl. Tears well in his eyes.
"I asked you a question." My voice low and deadly.
His breathing is ragged and sharp. "I was only thinking that Harvey is the least of your pack's problems."
My pack's problems? "You know my pack?"
"I know Catalina was easily accepted into a pack made up of Rogues. Considering you're with her, you must be in the pack too."
"Tell me what's a bigger problem than Harvey." I demand rather than ask.
"I can't believe I'm being ordered around by a girl..." I twist his arm further, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He says repeatedly in pain and I lighten up my grip. "The Hunter's Society. They found you -- well -- your pack."
"They know where we are..." I state.
If they know where we are located, then Hunters would waste no time attacking. But if that's the case, why hadn't they attacked yet? What was holding them back?
Unless...
Oh no.
"Salvador isn't here tonight." I state aloud. My thoughts piecing together the mystery. "The whole club is being run by mostly humans, not hunters tonight..."
Derek's voice crackles through my earbud. "It's happening. Tonight."
I drop Rodger's arm. It falls to the floor with a loud thud. "They are invading the pack house. Right now."
Rodger smiles and starts chuckling. My heart races wildly in my chest. It's erratic beat filling my brain with nervous thoughts. Rodger laughs again. Instinctively my arm wields back and flings my fist forward into his face. His laughter forcefully stops and his face falls to the floor, unconscious.
I stand up. In the next moment a hand lands on my shoulder. I turn to my left. Greyson stairs down at me. "We need to patch up your wound."
I frown at him, "we need to warn the pack."
Derek crackles into my ear, "I'm trying to call into the Alpha but no one is answering. We need to get back sooner rather than later."
"Keep calling Derek and wait for Greyson and Catalina to get to the car."
"What about you?" Derek asks.
I turn on my heels and jog out of the room. My legs gain a spark of energy. I begin to sprint. I reach up to my ear a grab hold of the ear piece. "I'm going back on my own." I pull it out and crumble the ear piece, heading straight for the stairs.
