Doctor's Appointment
Dr. Zoe is a very beautiful woman. She's young, probably in her early thirties. Straight blonde hair that falls down to her shoulders. Her office if large and very conveniently located, only about 8 miles away from the pack house. The waiting room is filled with humans and werewolves alike. She must be an amazing doctor to have so many human patients as well as werewolf. Honestly, I'm shocked there is even such thing as a werewolf doctor. My last pack didn't even have a nurse. The whole office is bright and cheery. Even the individual rooms have bright light blue walls with happy posters regarding health, babies, and anatomy.
One of the nurses leads me into a room and now I'm lying down on a health bench with my shirt raised to right below my breasts. Sienna left me to be with Dr. Zoe and is patiently sitting out in the waiting room. Dr. Zoe is setting up the ultrasound machine.
I tap my fingers on my exposed stomach nervously. Are these 'check ups' supposed to be this nerve wracking? What if something is wrong? What if I somehow hurt the baby? I was doing a lot of activity before I realized I was pregnant.
"So, Lucia," the Doctor interrupts the silence and my nervous thoughts, "how long have you been pregnant?"
Wow, that's a good question.
"To be honest, I have no clue. I didn't find out I was carrying until about a week ago."
"Really?" Dr. Zoe asks. She pulls the ultra sound machine over and closer to me. She wheels her chair next to me and places herself in it quietly. She moves with such grace. She pulls out a liquid gel. "Could I trouble you to move your hands?" She asks.
I notice I'm still tapping my stomach nervously. "Oops, sorry," I admit sheepishly.
"Now how much do you know about werewolf pregnancies?" Dr. Zoe asks me.
I shrug, "Just about as much as I know about human pregnancies, which is not much, if at all anything." she applies the cool gel and I flinch from the cold. "That's chilly!" I remark.
Dr. Zoe giggles, "Yes, yes it is. Since you don't know much I'll fill you in on some important things really quick. Firstly, unlike human pregnancies, werewolf pregnancies are shorter in duration. In between 7 to 8 months." She presses the scanner handle on my stomach, rubbing the cold gel everywhere. "Also, it's important to take vitamins, no drinking, and most importantly, rest."
"Got it... Which vitamins?" I ask as she looks at the monitor.
"I'll prescribe you some so you get all the right ones..." Her voice sounds confused towards the end of her sentence. She's staring at the monitor very intently.
"Is everything okay?" I ask nervously. My heart palpitating in my chest. My biggest fear is coming true, isn't it? I must have done something to the baby.
"Everything is... doubly okay..." She whispers.
"Excuse me?" I ask, confused. "What do you mean by that?"
She turns to look at me. "It's not a common thing... but... Lucia, you're having twins."
I freeze. The air around us goes cold. I don't know what to feel for a moment, then a bunch of emotions come flying into my body at once. My head scrambles around in chaos.
"I'm what!?" I gasp, can I really handle two?
"Yup. Looks like you're having twins. Would you like to know the genders of each baby or would you like to wait? "
"I... I think I'll wait... I need to talk to Greyson about this... I really wasn't expecting to have two... heck I wasn't even expecting to have one."
She giggles. Clearly it's not her first time viewing such shock in a patient. "Very well, I'll mark it in my file but I won't tell you. On another note, each of them are very healthy and their heart beats are strong. You look to be about three months pregnant." She informs me.
I sign in relief at their healthy state.
Dr. Zoe spends the rest of the time explaining specifics on the rest of my pregnancy. Things like how I shouldn't shift after a little while to make it less risky for both myself and the babies. How I should walk daily, just not over exerting myself. She says Greyson and I should start looking into baby 'gear'. She also mentions that werewolf babies are far harder to take care of than human babies because they become more self-reliant earlier on.
Now, I don't even know how to deal with a human baby, so this is going to be completely new to me. On the bright side, there are other mom's in the pack and the doctor is very educated on the subject. I think I'll have an easier time raising the twins here than anywhere else. I'm glad Greyson's a part of this pack. Now my kids will be too.
"Anymore questions?" Dr. Zoe prompts me.
I shake my head left and right. "Nope, not yet at least."
"Well if you ever have any, don't hesitate to ask, alright?"
"Alright!" I agree quickly. No doubt I will be taking her up on that offer.
"Check out is at the front, I'd like to see you in another month to check on the progress."
"Sounds good to me," I inform her.
We both stand, me from my seat on the medical bed and Dr. Zoe from her swivel chair. It doesn't take long for Dr. Zoe to help my clean off my jelly stomach. Once that is complete, I pull my shirt down. She grabs her laptop and turns to me, sticking her right hand out.
"It was a pleasure to meet you, Lucia. I look forward to seeing you around the pack." She says with a dazzling smile.
I give her a large smile back and meet her hand with my own. I shake it hard. "Same goes for you, it was a pleasure." I'm not used to people being this nice, but I'm really enjoying this place.
The doctor opens the door, and steps out into the hall. I follow behind her, leaving the door open, signaling that the room is empty. The doctor turns right down the corridor, and I turn left towards the lobby.
As I'm walking down the hall, one door shoots open, and a dirty blonde girl comes sauntering out of the room. Her left arm has a large bandage running up the side of it. She notices me coming in her peripherals, and stops in her track. She looks up at me with brown eyes.
She squints them at me and goes, "you! What the hell are you doing here?" She growls. I take a step back with the immediate and unexpected threat, instinct to protect the babies. What's good with this chick and why do I always have such a hard time getting along with females?
"What are you talking about? I don't even know you." I growl back.
"You," she points at me with her uninjured hand, "are the brat that was at that damn rogue pack house. Why are you here?" She takes a threatening step towards me. Deciding I can take this chick, I take one threatening step right back at her. Now were face to face.
Our heights are so similar. Her eyes, just like mine. It's like... it's like looking in a mirror almost.
We both freeze simultaneously. I look over her face again and she looks over mine.
"What the fuck," we both say at the same time.
"You're a blonde me," I tell her and take a step back.
"Uh, no, you're a brunette me." She fires back.
I look at her eyes closer and think about what she was saying earlier about meeting me at the rogue pack house. Holy shit. "You're the white wolf," the words spill from my mouth.
"No shit Sherlock." She growls at me. She cocks her head to the side, "you look less similar to me from a distance."
Her wolf is white... I don't see those, well, ever... I'm the only one I know about. How is that possible? And we look so much alike? I'm so confused...
"My wolf is white..." I tell her. Her eyes widen.
"What?"
"I just don't see white wolf's often and your wolf's white... and we look similar..." My head is racing. "Were you born in the rogue pack?" I ask her.
She laughs in my face, "Hell no. I was born and raised here. My family has the genes for female white wolves. My mom has a white wolf too." She tells me. "I'd say you're the weird one..." she tells me. Momentarily she freezes, her eyes widen in disbelief. She looks like she just realized something. "Wait, what's your name?" She asks me, in almost a whisper.
"Lucia." I tell her.
She lets out a deep sigh and touches her heart, "Okay cool. That's a relief."
"What is?" I ask.
She shakes her head. "Nothing..."
"So what's your name?" I ask the girl.
"Emily," She tells me. She clears he throat and adds, "but why are you here?" She asks, less offensively this time.
"Greyson brought me here."
"Grey did!? No way, hold up, so that means you're Grey's-"
"Mate." I cut her off and stand tall. I don't like the way she calls him Grey like that.
"Relax, down puppy," she giggles at me.
I cock an eyebrow up curiously at her.
"He's my brother, relax, I couldn't see him in that way even if I tried." Oh, so that's why she calls him Grey.
"Wait, you're Greyson's sister?" I remember him telling me about his sister, but I thought she was younger.
She laughs, "Huh? Greyson doesn't have a sister. I meant he's practically my brother. Since Leo is my brother and Greyson and Leo have been close since they were young."
"Wait, but I vaguely remember Greyson telling me he has a sister..."
She thinks for a moment. Something must pop into her head because her eyes widen, "Are you talking about Dawn?" She asks me.
"I'm not sure, he didn't tell me her name." I think back on the matter, "I think he mentioned her turning ten this year or something?"
Emily sighs, "Oh shoot. I didn't know he still though about her that often..."
"What do you mean?"
"Dawn died when she was younger. She had some type of rare thing where her wolf was too strong for her body. She was an omega with Alpha blood or something like that...Greyson really treasured her. I wouldn't recommend bringing her up all that much." She tells me.
"Oh..." His sister passed away from something like that? I can't imagine how painful that experience must have been to go through. Especially if he was really close to his sister. "I wonder why he didn't tell me?" The words slip from my mouth unintentionally.
Emily shrugs. "It's not something anyone brings up lightly, yah know? Death isn't an easy thing to talk about. Especially when it's so closely related to you."
That's true... I don't just casually bring up the fact that my Mom died. It's personal and strange to talk about... Something I mostly keep to myself. It makes me sad though that he hasn't talked to me about it.
"You look troubled, I'm sorry." Emily says to me, looking up into my eyes.
I shrug. "I'm fine, honest. Just a little saddened by the news, is all."
She nods her head in understanding, "that makes sense. It's shocking to hear about. Even with our healing abilities, werewolves can still die from sickness..." She takes a moment to let me think. Then she suggests a new idea, "you know, I heard that Greyson and Leo both brought back their mates. I've been resting and healing since getting back to the pack house but I've been dying to meet my brother's mate. Do you want to go meet her with me?"
I laugh, "Meet her? She's my best friend, I know her all to well."
"Really?!" Emily's eyes burst with excitement, "Is she a good girl? Is she pretty? Is she nice? I always pictured Leo with someone who had their shit together, but maybe he'd be better with a crazy girl?" She starts rambling.
I laugh, "Rina is a really good person. She's super pretty and definitely has her shit together. They make a really cute pair." I tell Emily. Then I think about her, since we've been talking about me this whole time, maybe I should ask her a question. "What about you? Do you have a mate?"
She laughs, "me? Oh hell no. As if I could ever be that lucky! But I'm still searching!"
"It's good that you don't seem down about it!"
"Of course I'm not. I don't need a man to make my life complete." She tells me with pride as she folds her arms over her chest proudly. I laugh.
"Wow, you sound just like me," I tell her honestly. That's how I used to feel before I met Greyson. I honestly never even planned on being with anyone until he came around. Even with Greyson, I still have that mindset. Sure, life is plenty better with him in it. Without him though, I can still function and be complete. It's just not nearly as fun or satisfying.
"So you're comparing us again?" She asks with a cocked eyebrow.
I laugh, "no no, just found another similarity is all."
She smiles, "Well, I'm glad that you seem like a good person. I really got worried when I heard Leo and Greyson found their mates in that rogue pack... I thought they'd come home with savages."
"Who said we aren't savages?" I taunt her.
She laughs, "I trust my judgement... Will you take me to meet this Rina chick though? Since you guys are good friends it might be less awkward if you come."
"Of course! Sienna is waiting for me anyway. Want to head off together?"
"Perfect!" She comments, "So, you're already calling Luna by her first name? Pretty familiar for only being here for a day," she remarks.
I hold my hands up defensively as we walk towards the waiting room, "Hey, she told me to call her that. I really would like to call her Luna."
Emily smiles, "I'm joking. It's good to see that the Luna trusts you too. You know, I think we could be good friends, you and I."
I turn to the blonde haired girl and give her a smile. "I think so too, Emily."
